TV Deadliest Warrior

"At the end of the day this came down to weapons. Shaka's spirit would have won him the fight if it had actually happened."

I'd like to see his spirit go through a claymore.

Next week's episode, IRA vs Taliban... I don't know... Seems like a weird season finale match-up.

In long range weaponry the Taliban packs the deadly 747 Passenger Airliner; 487 tons of explosive power.

I think their computer simulation software is flawed though, how does it account for tactics, stamina, or desperation?

I mean you can kill anyone by dropping a house on them with a crane, but so can a sniper, which one are you gonna see coming though?

This is pretty much the main argument against the show. We spoke on it earlier in the thread. There is no way the sim they have is doing anything accurate. I mean the tech says several times per show.. "I will need to create or adjust something in the software for something like this..." When most times that something... Is something the sim just can not calculate.. lol

All day marathon on sunday, ending with the new episode.

Like TheOsyris said, the sim sucks. They've outright admitted that it doesn't give any weight to debilitating or disabling attacks; pretty much the only thing it's good for is based on if the weapon can kill in a single hit or not.

I don't know this show don't seem very accurate it fun watch but i don't take there findings seriously.

The fun is in the ballistic gel man.. Its just so sweet to see them destroy that stuff.

Yeah, I don't think anyone takes this show seriously, it is just fun watching things smash gel faces off.

I don't take the results seriously, I just can't, the sims are just too standard, same landscape / battle grounds which is just not accurate enough a portrayal.

I do take the weapon demonstrations seriously as they're demonstrated by professionals.

What I enjoy the most are the bodies.. when I get to see some :drooling:

I dont even take the weapon demos serious Cheebs. They just look cool.

I mean remember Sam vs Viking ep..

The Katana cuts through two pigs which they said is equal to two humans...

Then the Viking takes an axe to the gel torso and it goes 75% through...

And then they claim the Axe was just mind blowing damage. The freaking Katana went through two people!

I dont know why they even used the pigs.. They should have shown each weapon on the same target, the gel dudes.

No no no lol, you've misunderstood me, I don't take THEIR takes on the weapon demos seriously, sorry I should have said that the first time =) I take the demos seriously in the sense that I can see the damaged caused for myself and use my own judgement.

lol There have been quite a few cases in comparative demos that I totally disagreed with these guys. Personally all that comes down to opinion it seems. I do agree with you regarding the Katana va. Great Axe demo, and yea I thought the same thing when I watched those pigs get sliced threw like butter. I think the Great Axe was taken to the 'head' iirc, partially to the neck and shoulder area, took the huge red haired man 2 swings to get the damage he did inflict to the torso. So yeah..

Well who doesn't like watching them disembowel someone with a axe or bash some head in with a shield or my personal favorite blow washing machine up with a soviet F-1 grenade.

Oh i get ya now Cheebs and i agree on that part lol.. That Axe or any weapon would do just the same to me as it did to the gel.

Indeed. It's bound to happen with shows like these anyway.

Even had it been set up where professionals of said team would battle stopping short of contact when a death blow is delivered to provide the win ratio. Mind you.. things like throwing knives and such.. guns... that would have proven difficult to execute.

I really enjoy the show but I do wish they'd be more consistent in their testing. Use the ballistic gel bodies for comparable weapons. The Shaolin vs Maori fight was so messed up in their testing. I agree that the Shaolin would win, but they really didn't test the lethality of some weapons correctly. The white wax wood staff, even in the hands of a reasonably strong layman, could shatter a skull with a direct hit. Instead they show how it can break clay pots? Then they use a completely different medium to show that the Maori's club can do more damage and use that to say it's definitively better? I think it's just kinda offset.

Either way, slow motion decaps and ballistic body mockups getting kabobbed is always fun, so I'll keep watching for the squish factor.

Oh and Samurai vs 13th century Knight is about the best guess I'd say for a fair fight.

This is exactly the thing i am talking about..

I guess they are trying to keep people interested by showing different cool objects being broken/sliced. But what it does is hurt the integrity of their sim even further lol.

Result of last night's finale, Taliban vs IRA, in spoilers, in case you haven't seen it yet.

Spoiler:
The finale last night ended pretty much like I thought it would. I really didn't think they were going to have the Taliban win. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, and personally I don't give a fuck, but I imagine something like that would piss off a lot of people.

I couldn't believe the IRA brought a slingshot to the table. They don't have anything better for close range fighting? Fuck, at least have it fire a tiny grenade or something. The flamethrower and the pipe-bomb w/ the bag of nails attached to it were pretty awesome, though. I also thought the gun-jamming test was cool.

Yea but the slingshot would not be used under the same circumstances as the Talibans close range. Most likely (they had mentioned snipering) it would be used for stealth attacks, which would make it a good weapon.

Personally I think that was another really shitty match-up. It made no sense to compare a sling shot used in stealth to a bayonet.
