Dear God.............................This is just sad

Meh, my dad's friend has been selling those things in the local mall for years, he has his own small hemp-based company. He has all sorts of candy and other assorted goods. He also has some certain "goods" that he doesn't sell at the mall >.>

Addicted to.... marijuana?
*sigh*
Marijuana= NOT addictive.

That's like sayin "I'm addicted to Choclate". It's not addictive, it's just desirable. If you break out in cold sweats, hurt all over all the time and start hallucinating from going without a substance, that makes it addictive.

Bob Sagat said it best.

"Marijuana is not a Drug. Cocaine, now that's a Drug. I used to suck dick for coke. Ever suck any dick for some Marijuana?"

Whats worse is everyone's reaction to it.

We live in such a damn knee-jerk culture.

Pot is only illegal because it is non taxable. That's the only reason. Its effects on the human being is better than that of someone who is drinking. That has been proven and is often the hot topic at hand with legalization of the drug. However, it still remains fact the only reason it can't be made legal is because there is no way to tax it =/ There is nothing wrong with it morally or in a whole just unlawful in the U.S. and Canada only, I believe.

These things are pretty interesting but I bet unless you're from Amsterdam you couldn't finish one off :p

The BC provincial government is actually starting to get more aggressive about trying to pass legalization.

Larry Campbell said:
Legalize it. This is a 3 billion dollar industry in BC. I say we tax the hell out of it.
(/cheer)

Disclaimer: I was trying to find the newspaper article with Larry's little spiel in it, but I think I must have tossed it. That may not be a word-for-word quote, but it puts out the same message.

I don't see the point of people getting all uppity about marijuana... I mean, there are numerous liquor ads on TV, busses, magazines, and more. As Strid & Trippyhippy said, the negative side effects of marijuana are far less dangerous than those of booze.

I imagine there is still a lot of belief from the older generations that dope makes people become sex-driven maniacal killing machines, which was the (fake as hell) propaganda publicized strongly from the 30s to the late 50s. I remember watching a short TV commercial broadcast sometime towards the end of that time period, in which there are two young guys playing some innocent board game at home. One of them busts out a joint, so they get high. When they finish, one of the guys starts hallucinating and stuff, then grabs one of his dad's guns out of the gun locker. The next scene shows him standing over his dad's body, the barrel still smoking.

The following text covering a background clip of the boy being arrested said something to the effect of, 'Marijuana. The Devil's drug.'

if marijuana is the devils drug, then what the hell is coke?

i just agree with Larry Campbell. all the stoner kids at my school cant be any different from other high schools, hell, the goverment would get more money then they get from taxing most anything else.

You're right that it's not chemically addictive, but it can be psychologically addictive--just like anything else (coffee, chocolate . . . FFXI^^;). People can develop very strong psychological addictions to marijuana and can display symptoms of chemical withdrawal. Cases this severe are rare, however.

Just a heads up.:P

Serious? I've recently started renting a house with 4 other stoners, and usually not a day goes by that we aren't uh... retarded. I've noticed I'm a bit more tired at work the next day, but it's miniscule and not enough to concern me. Aside from that, repeated exposure hasn't seemed to affect me much... mind you this has only been going on for about 6 weeks, so perhaps long-term my skin will go green or somethin cool like that.

But seriously, I can quit any time I want. >.>

/em gets high and just sort of... wanders off.

Long term effects of weed are alot more serious than short term effects.

Proof? I'll believe it when I see a full report conducted by certified and respectable medical professionals.

If it's been done, there certainly hasn't been much reference to it in the legions of pro- and/or non-legalization campaigns around here.

I don't want to be rude Krono, but you sound like you've adopted the American stance on marijuana and how it should never exist, and that it does have severe detrimental effects. In all fairness, I will admit I've adopted the Canadian hippie stance on how nobody should live without it, and that it has minimal detrimental effects.

A good report would certainly clarify which of these beliefs is more correct.

Edit: (Found it!) http://www.drugs.com/Marijuana/

So ultimately, those who smoke suffer similar issues as cigarette smokers (primarily higher risk of chest colds, bronchitis, pneumonia). Aight, so there you go... you were right.

There are none. I know people who have smoked weed ever since they where "knee high to a grasshopper" and are old as dirt now and I know a lot of people who have never touched the stuff. What's the difference between the two? One side smokes pot the other side don't. Other than that there is no difference intellectually, physically, or mentally. People who are against it seem to always find some "harsh effects" it creates on people but the folks it is a reality to and has been for a good 30-40 years are snikering their ass off at you.

Heh... spoken like a true stoner. Check my edit above, there is backing that there are negative long-term effects.

It's the same with people who smoke cigarettes - some started when they were 7 and still do it at 82. Some people start at 7 and die at 7. Personal biology rules supreme in the field of randomization, once again.
