Decidence

I completely ignored your statement, as it... well... I didn't really care to read it. At any rate, don't harsh my mellow while trying to learn something and not paying attention to what I thought at the time was a joke made by you.

I love to see statements like this coming from a RDM...
Who surely melee'd in exp with fishkabob.

Just because the thread is called Decidence doesn't mean it has to become a flame. ; ;

I've just seen melee (yes in parser >.>) do more damage and kill mobs quicker with atk+ and str+ foods. Then again, this is with merits and most of the time things are tough-vt so accuracy wasn't that big of a problem.

nobody said decidence was dishonest

hes just an elitist jerk D:

I...assume there is humor in that, but I fail to see it.

At any rate, he sure don't seem like a bad guy to me. A dedicated player to his LS, if anything at all.

Like Neosquall said, when sushi was put in the game, mob evasion never increased.

ATK/STR+ food > all. And it'll remain so for EXPing.

The only time I can viably see Sushi being worth the price tag, is HNMs. But then again, against Simurgh, I'm out hating food users when I'm not even using any.

So it has come to my conclusion, Sushi is worthless. Atleast, to Monks.

Edit: Oh, right. I guess it's useful for skilling up a weapon.

I don't think I'm alone when I say this, but it definitely seems like Decidence has made efforts to be a good guy and take the high road, especially lately.

That good attitude doesn't go unnoticed, and it's contageous.
Props, Deci.

I personally think it's useful for crap that's always been a pain in the butt to hit due to stupidly high eva (i.e. Torama and THF mobs, which I avoid like the plague..)

Also, sushi + BRD = huge att and acc boost, though at the same time BRD could be playing an acc song while you eat att food..but I think it's more beneficial to do it the other way? I dunno..

But otherwise yeh, att food > acc food in any other case.

Ish ftw! *strangles Ish* XD

The problem with the sushi hype, is that most of the people that are faithful to it, are unaware of the downfalls vs. meat.

Sushi Accuracy Caps are low compared to Meat Attack caps. Best meat will net you a max of 95 Attack. Best Sushi, I'd be suprised if it breaks 40 Accuracy.

So. What you could do, is drop 40 attack from your gear, and load up on 40 accuracy, and eat meat. Guess what? You'll get the same ACC as your precious sushi(probably more than it,) and have more attack than you originally did. But, alas.. most sushi users load up on ACC+, then eat that crap. It's appalling, really.

Sushi Monks may out TP me by 5-10% TP(Congrats, you can squeeze 10 Skills vs. my 9, too bad as a MNK, you should be waiting on your SC partner in a traditional PT.) But they're doing 1/2-2/3s my melee damage.

I heard somewhere that sushi caps at +32 acc (about 210 in a skill?). So yeh, a Coeurl Sub or Bison Steak can give virtually twice as much attack as the acc those'd give (and Hedgehog Pie gives a ton of att and 5acc to boot...)

A big problem I've been seeing is people are just obsessed with landing the hit and not caring how much damage it does..got stuck with a THF who was constantly hitting for 0-10 on Dia II'd Alastors, made me wanna cry.

That THF is poop then. After the Alastor was Dia II'd, they should have been hitting for more, or at least not 0s...Alastors aren't even the most physically resistant gobbies.

About 1/2 the time I use sushi, it involves ranged accuracy as well.
It's great for THF solo.

The problem with food debate is when you have a BRD in your party its easy to get attk 600+ and it seems at that point adding more attk is diminishing on returns. I agree. I parsed out my DMG on sushi vs attk. I typically do 200-300 more dmg a fight on avg using attk food. However as a DRK in a standard party setup you need TP as fast as you can get it. Misses hurt...alot. Acc food is the way to go.

And in cannon parties I like to stack attk equip with get a Minuetand haste song and use sushi. So far I seem to maximize my DMG that way.

to stay on topic.... I've never really had any problems with deci, he goes to the flameboard and speaks his mind and he has an intense loyalty to his ls and his buds. I respect that.

to continue the sideline discussion....

my monk gear, level 62.
Spartan cesti
tiphia sting
temple crown (shu'up, not coughing up for empy pin.)
spectacles
Spike earring x 2
SH with Temple body for chakra swap in.
Okote/Temple gloves
Dual woodsman rings as well as str and vit rings for swap in, working on mind rings ><
amemet mantle+1 (low bid this a bit, b^^d the guy didn't care)
Brown belt (2nd best belt ever, i love it.)
Usually use republic subligar but i have af pants and mst sitibaki+1 for common decency
kung fu shoes

I believe this has a net set up of acc+31 with acc rings in and attack averages +42 to +52
Parsed out over a trial of 40 battles each sole > meat chief on certain IT mobs. by about 300 a fight. Sc partner was a thf. in other instances chiefs did parse higher on IT mobs.

let me explain why this is and hopefully everyone can one day understand attack. this all came to me through parsing, experimentation and a mages insight (it helps me notice precise nice even fraction resist tiers ect...)

you have a base damage. you can test this effectively by hitting boreal hound. str will raise your base damage. their vit will lower the damage they take, the reverse of your str. now, to get an accurate reading of how your damage on an average mob works is this. you take the monster's def which gets a random +- an unknown % which varies every swing, kinda like in blitzball in FFX shot vs catch, and the same thing with your attack. There is a formula that compares your attack after these +-'s are factored in, i'm not a developer and i don't know the specifics but, the ratio cuts your damage down into tiers the way elemental magic damage is tiered in resists. With this in mind you will find you have a reasonably consistant average damage on exp mobs of the same type. when you increase your attack or lower the mobs defense you change your damage tier. With +5 attack from the subligar i can move up a tier and do an average of 20 more per hit sometimes.. other times i can toss on the Okote and then add in the amemet mantle and it's not enough to raise my tier to the next level.

If you think a different way, say, a crafter you can think of it in hq tiers, if you're below hq cap it's a longshot freak occurance to hq, same with landing a higher tier hit.
ATT+ food is a large att bonus, using meat chiefs cap at about 90 att, sometimes it's enough to put me all the way up a tier, other times not, often leaving me just below making seamingly freakishly large hits occur occasionally.
Sushi for me makes the difference between missing here&there and never missing, with some of that nice shura stuff at the end of my road combined with all that ACC+ like Ohat i'm sure sushi will hopefully be obsolete for IT's as well.

at mid levels Meat is ok vs IT if you have madrigal up, it works about the same most fights. without a bard... well, let's just say it isn't pretty. stick with sushi there. MEAT is almost(this is my escape clause left in place for torama's on lightningsday, bloody evasive bastards) always best against VT's Swapping between str+ and att+ gear when using sushi can make all the difference between an impressive display on a crab or wasting a slot in the party.
A good indicator for you to use when balancing your gear (and you have to do this EVERY SINGLE MOB with sushi) is /check the mob. if it cons high def put your attack gear on one piece at a time and see what's the least str+ gear you can take out to get the attack over that def. if you get it right you'll lose the high def comment, if you have enough att+ you might get it to read low def. This achieves peak damage.

If you read that and understand hopefully you'll be a more effective melee.
feel free to pick that apart as you like and point out anything you feel is wrong. with extensive testing however i'm about 97% sure that's all right.

to deci: no regrets here :) good ppl are good ppl

to kat: rawr ;)

to odon: ; ;

to everyone else: huh? if you're going to derail, make it something that's interesting to read about, instead of which food monks should use, make it about crafting, cause that shit is cool.
