Wall of text so here's a short version for those who just want the punchline:
I beat COP 4~2
The full story:
The pain:
I needed this for years, really. Years ago, I also screwed up and asked Bygrid the stylist for Samurai gear. Beastmaster overcame my SAM and got 75 first and I really wanted a Gaudy. I even solo'd my gaudy subligar but couldn't turn it in until sam gets in. MANY times I'd go for sam and the alliance would swear to get it for me. Each one was the same. "Oh it's too hard to get so we'll get that one last". Then each and every alliance was "too tired" to go for mine. dirty F*&$K3rs. Though some did hang with me and give it a valliant effort.
Old school:
Jueno shouts for 4~2 "BLM ONLY". again "dirty F*&$K3rs". I didn't have BLM and didn't want it at that time. My many attempts at melee groups w/tank, mistmelts, etc. always failed. Then I'd see shouts later on in Whitegate for it but it was always during some LS event. I also missed a run a friend hosted and they won. This was pissing me off.
Today:
Well last night, my Dynamis shell once again left me hanging with no lamp so I said "F-it" and went to do my own thing. I took a stab at shouting for a 4-2 run and got two fast responses. Turns out all 3 of us really needed it and all 3 were WAITING FOR THE SHOUT. That was a PLD and a BRD. I was BLM. I shouted for BLMx3 and no dice. Kept getting MAT telling me he wants it but his BLM is 40.
Yes I'm laughing at your Mat but you did very well in the fight. Our strat. was the old freeze sleep freeze routine and you can't get that at 40. Our BRD called in a favor and got a BLM buddy to pop in and another BLM answered the call. So we grabbed Mat as a 42 whm... (laughing again). His job was dedicated PLD healer so it was doable.
The travel:
all caps because you all deserve the accolade... THIS WAS THE FIRST GROUP TO GET TO THE BC W/O BICKERING AND W/O EXCESSIVE AGGRO. This group ruled! We had one single aggro and who cares.
The fight:
no mistmelts! I laid out the strat and crossed my fingers. Renz, our pld grabbed hate. I called a time and Codine, Graybl(name?), and I timed-nuked freeze. Ouryu went to 78%
but he was slept and we were getting MP. Second round of Freeze put it at 54%. I was terrified we'd not make it because I've lost many times. This was my first nuke attempt and didn't know how it would go.
Ouryu started resisting sleep so the Kanye(BRD) spammed lullabys on it while we rested our final round of MP. So I called the next time along with "2HOUR BLM" because we couldn't wait for MP. It worked!
The fight sorta stopped and I had no idea at first what happened. WE JUST WON IT.
Moral:
Start your own parties even if you are too timid or lazylike me.
Now we can get better subligar runs, swift belts, more COP etc.
