Simple question, it's not on ffxiclopedia.

Do defoliators use incinerate? I'm thinking of bringing my static there, but we have a PLD so incinerate would blow.

Also, I know some diremites (or perhaps all) have additional effect: drain on their melee hits. This would likewise suck for a PLD...does anyone know if they do this, and if so, if it's bad enough to not bring a PLD there?

Thanks.

That's good news, what about defoliators? Do they drain life like they do in ENM?

That camps balls anyways, whatever the alternative is, its better

Eff U Jo! Colibri all the way...You crazy...

I like the defoliator camps they're usually not nearly as crowded and you can use food. they seem to do normal crawler moves I don't remember them doing anything special.

also there's no reason a pld can't handle a little incinerate just don't use BQ ring or jelly ring and keep barfira up.

Defoliators don't drain life. They're just crawlers with a fancier paint job. I used to fight them on BST (with a jelly pet) and never had any problems.

One of the things that suck about the defoliators is the pulling though. Puddles of water all over the place and if you're not careful, you end up losing them on the pull.

I don't recall the diremites having drain effect, but it's been a long time since I was there last. If you can stand the spam of the slow that overwrites haste, that's probably their most annoying thing.

NINs have a harder time taking incinerate since they have less HP and it goes through shadows anyway.

Pasuk from Test Your Mite doesn't drain life with his hits, he drains TP. To my knowledge no regular diremite has that ability. His only draining is from the actual spell.

I meant diremites.

I asked because colibri camps are sometimes taken and I want a viable alternative. It seems crawlers are pretty squishy when I keep cocoon off, so I'll keep that in mind as an alternative.

Thanks fools.

The diremites there don't drain anything with melee hits. They're just tough as nails, and take care if you have a Dark Knight. Their dark resist is through the freaking roof.

Defoliators were great exp though, but only if you have a Red Mage/Bard/Blue Mage.

DRG is good poking at Defoliator >.>

But ya, Defoliator just like regular crawler you see outside of Aht Urhgan. Only it look uglyer and pain in the ass to pull cuz of puddle of water like what Zyn said.

I tanked them both for a couple levels on my Paladin. Pld can eat food with them which makes them easy as hell. Like was said earlier, the worst part of the diremites is the thread move which overwrites haste. I was fortunate to have a whm that kept me hasted and a rdm that kept me refreshed so I was able to do most of my healing. I only took minimal cures from them the whole time, and that was usually after a really bad poison breath from the defoliators when I was lower on hp to begin with.

Do your Paladin a favor and let him eat food =P

Peace,
Shmed

When i camped those monsters we were just in the tunnel where the ugly hp draining plant could not see us. There are 2 camps with those crawlers that i know of. A good skill chain and mb takes them down fast. Distortion did well on them if i remember right.

i never knew of this camp to be a problem of any sort. we already know how to counter everything they toss at us from our crawlers nest days. as for the puddles pretend JAWS is lurking in them and no problems. :)

oh and watch for bugs. i hate bugs.

Fighting Eruca in Mount Zhayolm, I had this WHM once tell me "If you want Barfira, you have to come to me."

Uhhh >_>;
