Short story-ish... enjoy.
Departing
I wish I could have some influence over my life. I wish I could take into my hands the very essence of my fate and guard it, as I have never been guarded from Time. Old, so old is my soul that I seek nothing more than to end it. So old, in fact, that the very thought of death makes me tremble, for I have evaded it for far too long.
Of course, coursing through my veins is the very essence of Life, and so I would end Life by ending my soul's existence. Such a paradox... Words are my creation, words are my damnation, and so I Damn the Word that was first uttered. That evil word, that cruel word. Mine, it is, the responsibility of Life, and I have often wondered how it would have been in another's care.
Since I am short on Time, another creation of mine, I think it about time I end this foolish invention, and have eternity be mine.
Such enmity, there is, against me. Such indignation that would startle the senses of those that have sent me. The ones that are truly responsible for not warning me of the Calamity. Oh, yes, such deep Calamity as could be expected from such a simple utterance of the First Word, which I will not repeat ever again, until my soul (and Life!) are parted from this world.
Blame me, o cursed ones, blame me for your follies! Blame me for your grievances, blame me as you have always sought to do, blame me as you have always wanted to. Blame me, blame me, o children!
Alas, it is my own fault. I, indeed, shudder at the indignity that I have caused over those that command me. I wish naught more than to End in Quiet Rememberance. In the shallow embrace of Mother.
No, it is not as you think, my friend, I am not who you think I am. Not at all. I am just the opposite in your heart. After all, the Greatest Secret is still very much a secret. But, dare I reveal it? Dare I anger my commanders? Dare I?
If Life is due to end along with me, I see not the harm in it... Yet, I am hesitant to do so. I am too much of a coward to even ponder it for more than a second. O, bitter invention, how it takes over my life! Oh, tormented soul of mine, destined to live such woes, such hatred...
To tempt... that was my command --that is not the Great Secret-- and so I have done, exquisitely so, divinely so, as only one of the Children can do. Such hatred has been reserved especially for me, and such ignorance accompanies it.
Why do I have to hide this? Why am I tempted myself so as to not tell such a monumental thing? Is this a device to further delay the Inevitable Death? Is this all just my imagination?
O, filthy Words that have been my companions, please, end my despair! I do not wish to be forsaken, for that is my very name. I do not wish to end... It is not my fate. My soul is too accustomed to live. My heart is too loving of Life so as to end it.
Such decisions, such irony. I tempt myself. I do such a good job...
