Well that isn't exactly fair. I mean, you can get outclaimed by someone and get pissed that they get the drop you wanted then just fabricate a story about it. I don't talk to him or check him, for all I know he's had one for months and this is all a big sham. I'm not saying it is, just saying that isn't really the best "proof" in the world. I honestly don't care one way or the other, this just looks like it could be the first fun topic on the flameboard for a while!
 
I like how you insinuate that I'm making this up, then that begs the question: if he has it already, what was he doing there, solo? Are you suggesting camping 24hr NMs that drop a rare/ex you already own is a popular pastime these days?

Yeah that statement was a bit far fetched, Shyrra corrected it pretty well. If no one can claim they helped him with KA for the belt, then so be it.

For all we know he could have stolen it from them like Byakko's haidate.

Oh yeah, no doubt. Just saying, you can easily kill KA with 2-3 people and I don't recall Darth really posting on these boards much so it's safe to say his friends might not either. *shrugs* I don't care really, just want some proof since RMT's pretty serious accusation to put on someone.

That's for sure, I remember seeing screenshots of pre-patch Nin/Whm soloing it. All I know is, I'd be pretty pissed if someone tied me with RMT.

A. Have you seen the players you gotta level with on the way up there?
B. I didnt say it was the most difficult task but that doesnt mean it isnt an accomplishment. Stop trying to trivialize it because by that standard ridill and e body or even black belt aren't worthy of notice on somone and those damned things require far less effort to obtain.

Regardless, it takes quite a bit of time no? I think his point might have been that its a shame to see someone who has the patience to acquire Maat's cap to go and buy stuff from RMT..
 
Ever since the autumnstone purchasing fiasco of a few months ago it has become pretty obvious that:

A) if you buy gear or items from RMT with gil no one gives a shit

B) however if you buy their gil with RL dollars you're the devil

Ethically, there is absolutely no difference but I guess that's typical ffxi hypocracy for you.

I didn't say it didn't take time. I said it wasn't difficult. Too vastly different things.

You can get all 15 jobs to 66 by yourself(linkshellless) with realitive ease. Thats not the case with anything relating to a "HNM" with a high demand, rarely introduced item.

Yes, I consider Speed/Velocious Belt, or a Ridill and Adaberk, a Kirin's Osode, a Black Belt, a Hecatomb Harness, Ares' Cuirass, etc., more of an accomplishment than a lowly Maat's Cap. Ones proof of a collaboration of players working toward a common goal(or just buying it off RMT, which diminishes the achievement,) the others just proof of enough personal free time and drive that anyone can do on their own.

Sure, Maat's cap is worth bragging about. But it's not worth as much as just about anything endgame besides Genbu loot.

My position on the Autumnstone 'fiasco' was that I was camping Ulli at the time and encouraging RMT to camp him (and cheat, of course) was making my life difficult, therefor making the buying of Autumnstones a Bad Thing.

I ain't campin' King Arthro, so I don't really care that much. I'm sure there are legit players that are bothered by the (probably cheating) competition though.

RMT will get their money one way or another, though relegating them to the low-margin menial work of FFXI is obviously the ideal solution.

That isn't proof. Not by a long-shot. For all we know, you made up that crap on the spot. (It sure as hell sounds made up).

And additionally, are you going to suggest that a screen capture of /tells is difinitive proof? It's not much more harder to fake than creating random dialogues up and typing them in.

Perhaps you're too new to know about the whole taisaijin/refresh incident of old?
