Derail from Darth thread: Meta/Evidence

If by hard you mean it requires a lot of time investment, sure. But then again, you could camp Fafhogg everyday for 2-3 years and never even sniff a Ridill. Their are only a handful of things having a Maat's cap proves:

1) you have no social life
2) you have no job
3) you have no obligation to school
4) any combination of the previous 3
5) multiple people play the same character ~24/7
6) you used one of those exp-for-you-if-the-price-is-right websites

Yeah it's possible that you could buy a lot of the items (either outright or purchase the lotting rights to such items) that people hold in high regard. However if you do this, it significantly lessens the accomplishment in the eyes of the community. If you farmed up every single gil legitimately to buy that item, then you could argue that the achievement is just as meritous as if you had camped it yourself. However, if you just used gil that you bought from IGE, then I think most people would agree that it completely invalidates any sense of accomplishment that you may hold.

I'd argue about the no job/life/school thing. It doesn't take a long time to get one job to 66, and Maat's Cap has been around for several years now, not to mention, the game has been up and running for 5. Thats a lot of time to spread things around. That certainly doesn't mean there aren't people who shirk responsibility and play this game nonstop, however.

Also, I'd like to throw up another item on the list.

7) Powerleveled by your friend/linkshell, a party members friend/linkshell, or by yourself using another persons account.

In short: No. Maat's cap isn't difficult to obtain. Just time consuming.

Like Valandil said though, even if some things I listed are purchasable, it still takes work to raise the gil to do so. Gilbuyers lessen the accomplishment, I do believe I stated that in the first place, but only for themselves. Just because SephirothCloud123 bought gil to buy his Osode doesn't mean LockeSabinXYZ's Osode means any less.

The slowest of levelers can eventually get a Maat's Cap on their own. But they're not going to get any worthwhile HNM item through the same method.

Ok how long do you think it would take an alliance to learn fafnir if they could fight it once a day?.Not long. But since it's hard to claim/camp it,it requires alot of time before one is able to get it with the points.Pretty much everything in this game is time consuming besides i guess dynamis/BCNMs/salvage and assaults.Because in those, your strategies and tactics are a bigger concern than time.Point is that most of the stuff in game is based on how much time you have on your hands, and that's what maat's cap is about. Then again it's not related to the topic

Jesus, you're retarded. One person is all it takes to get a Maat's Cap - Yourself. One person cannot ever hope to achieve a Fafnir kill, let alone a Ridill, by themselves.

Even if all you kill is Easy Preys, nonstop, you'll get a Maat's Cap eventually.

Both are time consuming. One is difficult, the other isn't. End of story.

Im sitting at work bored out of my mind and just read 21 pages of nonsense....do i get a t-shirt?

One person is all it takes to get a maat's cap rofl?.Is it just me or you stopped thinking before posting.Who can solo 15 jobs to 66?, you have to make most of your parties to level fast. And its very very hard getting all those good combos to work. And we all know that some jobs have a very hard time getting invites if you are depending on those. And i'm sure it's not easy to find someone to help level your charecter even on one job. There's always a chance of killing Faf once and getting ridill the first day of camping. There is no such chance in getting lucky and leveling 15 jobs to 66.So now it makes u what u were calling me =0.Can't just discredit someone getting a maat cap,it's a huge accomplishment.

Your missing on of Skaws points:

Even if you all you kill is Easy Prey.

Meaning that anyone could level any job 15-66 easy. It would just take so much time.

Yes, getting a Maats cap is an accomplishment. But it is easy to do, so long as you dedicate the time.

If it's so easy to do then how come maat's cap is far more rare than all the abjs and ridills?.And beating HNMs (Atleast most of them) is kind of easy too.I bet 3 attempts and any alliance can learn how to kill him. What matters is having the people who have the "time" available to wait for the thing to pop and to camp it.The same thing which is "time",is required to get a maat's cap.i didn't miss any points

...wow. You really are that stupid.

Leveling 15 jobs takes time, but you are guarunteed to get there eventually. The reason it is "more rare" than the abjs and ridills is because it takes that much longer to get the cap than to get the abjs and ridills.

It doesn't matter how much you "learn" to beat an HNM. Even if you do get the claim, there is no certainty of getting the drop, or even winning.

In most cases, it will only take one jackass to fuck up the battle and cause a wipe.

Actually unless i've missed something people still don't know what to do with AV. A better example would be fighting Fafhogg and someone casting a -gaIII spell.

TIME AND SKILL ARE NOT RELATED. DO YOU UNDERSTAND IT NOW?!

Good point. My mistake.

Really, its basic party mechanics at its best. If you don't work as a team, your doomed to fail, regardless of what you are fighting and how much know-how you have of the target.

thats common knowledge. getting a maats cap does obviously take time but it takes skill too .. if u dont think so then ur wrong; it takes alot of skill.now if u just sit there in every pt and leech, thats different, but that simply doesnt happen. i wont compare maats cap to anything because a maats cap is very rare and you cant compare it too much.

the point is... getting a maats cap takes a fuck load of time but obviously it takes skill too.

anyone who says that its not hard to get a maats cap is wrong.

No. No it doesn't. You can gimp your way to 75 without learning how to play your job right. I've pted with more than enough shitty lvl 75s to attest to this. Once you're lvl 75, Maat is a joke regardless of your job. It does NOT take skill to get to 75 and kill Maat. If you have the free time, it's a simple rinse and repeat process with each job.

Totally agree. And for the record time = experience.Experience is where skill comes from in FFXI for the most part.I'm not argueing weather its right or wrong to buy a velocious belt off of RMT but the fact that Maat's hat is just as hard (Time consuming / skill requiring) as any of the other harder to obtain items.Actually it might be even harder. There are tons of stuff out there but i've only seen one maat's hat so far.
