Been fishing for this guy for well over an hour now, and neither I nor the 4 people beside me have pulled him up once.

Just wondering whats the longest anyone has ever had to wait for this loser?

Also:

Should he be soloable by a 72 dnc with haste/eva setup, by fishing up other mobs I'm generally walking into the fight with 250-300% tp too.

My theory on Devil Manta is that if someone fails to reel him in when he's due, the ten minute timer until he is due again to respawn resets. I notice that with more people down there fishing, the longer it takes usually to catch him. Can't really back that up other than my experience, but I've gone from catching it in ten-minute intervals when its due again to waiting over two hours.

As for dancer, no clue :P

Lol, I have the opposite experience that Serigala has. When there alot of people it gets fished up about 20mins, but if im solo or duo it takes about 40mins+. I don't do this very often though its been months since ive went on a fishing run for it.

Thats kinda how it works. If you hook the manta but fail to pull him up, the timer will reset.

For future reference. what bait/hook?

Fly lure and any rod for big fish.

First and foremost.

You'll have a really hard time getting angel skins without Treasure Hunter.

It can easily take over an hour to catch it, especially when there are very few fisherman.

Experience of having a clue of what's on your line is a huge help. Knowing that a manta may exhibit traits similar to a crabs stamina, for instance.

With dedication, patience, and a will to farm everything (Phantom Worm, Yowie, Arachne, Amemet, Coffers) farming Kuftal easily puts other areas to shame. However, not everyone can kill those alone, which makes it more appealing to some.

I often left my friend's MNK72 down there to level sync my THF so I could equip Octave Club for a little fun. Everything (aside NMs) is Decent Challenge or weaker and should pose no threat.

Thanks, from what I've gathered fishing this it seems like what you say, there's a 10-12 minute window to hook the manta, if no one actually hooks him then theres a 10-12 min wait for next window.

0/5 on the drop, but he is killable. Puts up a bit of a fight though D:

Thanks for the replies

No, that's wrong.

It's a 10-12 minute window from the moment someone hooks it.

If no one ever hooks it, it's window would be up until someone does.

Even if you hook it and lose it, it assumes it died and starts over.

I know there is probably a preferred bait to catch the manta, but let's say I am fishing up some cave cherax using meatballs, would the manta bite, even if it's less frequently?

Nvm, just reeled one in like 1 minute after I posted that. XD
No drop though. lolTH

Three simple tips for Angel Skin success:

1) Know your enemy. There are Crabs, Pugils and a Manta in the pond:

- The Crabs always have low Stamina, and the rod rarely moves.
- The Pugils have medium to high Stamina, and tend to fight back a little, sometimes a lot.
- The Manta has a varying Stamina similar to Pugils, but will ALWAYS fight back.

The Stamina of the Manta really can be erratic. I have hooked up Manta before that have the Stamina of a Crab. The Manta always fights back. If you're not sure, fish it up anyway; better to be safe than sorry!

Also, there are five ID's in that pond; Pugil, Pugil, Crab, Crab, Manta. If the two Crabs and two Pugils are already fished, the next !!! is the Manta for certain.

2) Try to camp this Manta when there are a few other people present. The more people there are, the more chance this is fished up, and thus, the more chances you will have at killing it.

3) Persistance. You'll get drops if you keep trying.

I found that Wooooodum's post on this page helps a lot. Especially the bolded. I didn't know about that until reading his post, waiting for about 6 people to show up to the fishing hole, having 4 people fighting 2 crabs and 2 pugs, and sure enough the only other person who was fishing a monster up got the manta.

While that's true, it's a bit inaccurate. The next !!! might be the Manta but it may also be an unstackable fish. I'm not positive if this is an unstackable fish, but a message displayed, "lack of skill," may also pop up.
