PC Diablo 3 Beta Preview (Very accurate)

Bumping because it's a little over a month away from release. I got to play the Act 1 Beta and I quite enjoyed Monk and Demon Hunter.

I don't think I'd wanna play the beta. Doing the same thing over and over would prolly bother me XD but I've heard it's fun. But they also have changed up a TON since it started.

It all depended on the stage of the beta you got invited into. Like the beta weekend they did to stress test the server was the same beta I played in November-ish.

Ya I ended up playing during the open beta too >.> I played each and every class at least once through. I still am just as lost at what class I wanna play. They're all so fun :( but they're no Necromancer! :O I loved his cocky attitude in Diablo 2 and his abilities.

Blizzard is implementing an AH for this one and the biggest shocker is that they're making it 2 fold. You can use in game gold, or use real money. They take a 28% cut from all transactions, but this is really unexpected for me. The RMAH is run by blizzard themselves and there are price caps to be set for each item. they did their homework when looking to put this in place.

28%? Awkward number O.o

Mind = blown.

Mine too, with how shitty this game handles on moderately high end computers... Having to set core affinity to 2-3 and shadows to medium on my PC is down right infuriating. Even then it doesn't run perfect. If I load it up on a 7 year old dual core bought already put together with a 9500 GT tossed inside, it runs flawlessly.

My deep hatred with "always online" can not be expressed in words :\

It's likely not due to your computer but due to always online server crap...

Oh, it has nothing to do at all with my PC. My PC is a fairly high end build, built 3 weeks ago. I have no problem at all running the most demanding games on ultra with 60+ FPS. It's also nothing to do with the DRM.

There are two things floating around, unfortunately the more likely issue seems to be the most ridiculous of things. Consider this, the people with this issue all have fairly high-end to high-end machines. The fix, until Blizzard patches it, which they've said they are working on, is to load a certain 7 GBs of the game onto a flash drive and then run the game. I haven't tried this because honestly, I don't feel I should have to go through all the trouble. People with older machines are having no issues with the game, so this seems odd to me since HDD technology hasn't really changed for your standard HDD (note I'm not talking about SSDs).

The second idea is that the game is poorly optimized for quad cores. I do get a little bit of a performance upgrade when I turn off affinity for Core 0 of my CPU, but it's a farcry from fixing the issue. I also have many friends with quad cores on older machines running the game just fine. So again, color me puzzled.

I really have no idea what it could be. If I put everything to low, I get stutters, same as if I leave it all maxed save for medium shadows. When I then bump the shadows up to high it's even worse. So I have no idea what it is. My PC should crush this game with everything on the highest settings.

Meh, I'm still mad they even have always online especially when I play the game single player and don't bother with anything online-wise.

And the only reason they did this crap was to encourage the use of the RMAH. They know that if they had an offline single player mode many MANY would use that cause no one likes the type of crap they've had to deal with over the first week and still will have to deal with later (many still have tons of lag spikes here and there through-out their gameplay, myself included, forums have tons of threads made every day and Blizzard deletes em all). They knew that it'd be like D2. Sure a lot played it online, but most played it offline (4 million sales, 4 million were never online). Instead, they want people online to have access to RMAH (as single player offline would have to be unable to use the RMAH) so they might periodically spend a buck or 5 here and there. Blizzard wants that kinda money that F2P games get.

Bleh... really hating Blizzard these days. More and more greedy decisions just to dick over the consumer and make more profits. I think I'm done with Blizzard games until they fire their business leaders or at least change their policies.

Also, I'm sick of so many Blizzard defenders claiming games are a service. GAMES ARE A PRODUCT!! The use of the Blizzard SERVERS are a service. Stupid stupid people :|

I whole heartedly agree with you, but my dumbass bought the game anyway. It's just hard for me to pass up a good time anymore, since more and more developers are making games I could give two squats about. Will I do it again? Probably not, at least not with Blizzard. No telling how many times back when I was trying to play the game, before the stuttering got too bad, when I'd log on after a night of TERA to play an hour to wind down and the damn servers would be offline for the next 2-3 hours. It's just silly really.

To be honest, if you want to play the game, and will primarily play offline, I'd pirate the hell out of it and find a crack. At current nothing about this "product" warrants even a $20 purchase, much less a $60 one. I'm really regretting my purchase, to the point of if my issue isn't solved next week I'll file for a refund, which they have been giving. I should have just been patient on Torchlight II, no doubt in my mind it'll be a far better game and have far less restrictive, if any at all, DRM attached to it.

Ya, I feel dumb for getting it too >< I had it pre-ordered I think before they even announced it'd always be online even for single player, but I don't remember. All I know is i had it pre-ordered for awhile and wanted to see how the story would go (bleh cliche) and enjoy a good ol' hack and slash. I definitely am done with Blizzard cause of their business practices. Sad, cause I really used to love Blizzard. I'm done with EA too as long as games require that garbage Origin and cause of EA's business practices. And Capcom I've never really been a fan of (though apparently Dragon Dogma's Day 1 on disk DLC is not that big a deal, still the fact it exists pisses me off) and oye... it seems the only ones worth a damn are Indie or CD Projekt Red or very few.

If only reviewers cared more about the entire product, i.e. technical issues, mis-steps, etc, instead of being invited to Company X's convention every year... Diablo has far too many technical issues to score anything above mediocre, and that's just in that single department.
