Watching the vid through again I saw that they didn’t at 3:44 he is asleep, bio’d and poisoned (from the poision pots he used at the start of the fight I assume unless Diabolos has put on a stronger poison)

At first he had stoneskin and wouldn’t be woken until this has gone of course, but he is then hit with a ranged attack and stoneskin wares off shortly after.

For just a few seconds he is asleep, is that just delay between stoneskin coming off and him waking or does he wake due to sleep waring off?

Poison pots would wake you back up

You don't wake back up, even with poison, which is why many people, myself included, went 1/19 when this first came out. The only effective way to do it was just manaburn him in <1minute.

You CAN get lucky though, and not have him do the dreaded Nightmare move at all. Thus why you can, theoretically solo this as a sch also, keeping in mind i've also lived through the move.

So yeah, luck plays a major role in this, as it does in many solo'ing campaigns.

I'm still trying to pinpoint the nuances of his strategy (does he cast Enblizzard at the beginning?)...

He uses them as dummy spells (barwater, enblizzard, barsleep etc). Diabolos casts dispelga. During the fight you can see they didn't do much. He ended up getting his rereaise dispelled

He is asleep while poison'd bio'd and w/ stoneskin. Diabolos uses Nether Blast and does 0 DMG. SS is still up. Diabolos moves in and hits him with a close ranged melee move. He loses 139 HP and wakes up but doesn't move. The sleep icon disappears slowly due to the server lag retardation effect. He then stuns sleepga II and runs away.

chatlog:

Diabolos hits Vol for 139 points of damage
Vol is no longer asleep.
Diabolos starts casting sleepga II

The thing about his Nightmare move is the fact that you can apply every DoT in the game to an enemy then use Nightmare and the enemy will still be asleep with all the DoTs in effect.

Yea, that's the main thing about the fight. He'll either use it a lot (unlucky) or never (lucky). With the poison potion + bio dot he was getting hit @ 40/tic

602 -> 562 -> 522 -> 482 -> 442 -> 402

Till he cured it with his panacea (expensive stuff lol).
