It isn't a political debate, just a joke. If you don't like me having freedom of speach you doucher go live somewhere else if you don't like it here.

The day you join up to defend those freedoms you oh so love, maybe then I won't care...but when you give nothing positive back to society, why the hell should you be allowed the sit there and criticize those who do?

oh and PS douchebag I didn't capatlize very word in the sentence, it was all caps and the flood monitor did that...

Because of something every first grader in the U.S. should be able to tell you about. No public service required.

How does not joining the army mean you arent giving somthing positive back to society? And why the hell shouldn't he be allowed to criticize people? That little thing called freedom, you know the ones thousands of people have died for hundreds of years for...or people that disagree with somthing lose that freedom...

Never once was anything said about joining the Army was it? Stop assuming shit. The point was if you're not doing anything to change the society you live in, then how do you feel you can criticize it? You're just going to sit back without a clue in the world and jump on the "Fuck Bush" bandwagon. Oh yeah an point of clarity, I dont even like the guy; but he is still my president elected by the USA.

War today isn't exactly defending our freedoms anyway. Member? Operation Iraqi-Freedom! Spread Democracy around the world! Thats kinda stretching the impact on our freedoms at home >.>; I'd much rather see people at home creating NGO's (Non-Governmental, in many cases non-profit, Organizations) and trying to improve our own backyard. That to me would be defending freedom much more than killing the insurgence in Iraq half a world away would. We're spending millions, hell billions, to destroy and rebuild a country that is half a world away and incredibly insignificant to the average freedom-loving American. Especially when we take into account that we have so many people at home who are impoverished and could really use the aid.

I'm not joining the military, nor would I advocate it. I pleaded with my best friend in 2004 not to join it. But its her choice to do so. Fact is though, I honestly don't think she did it to defend the country.... she did it so she wouldn't be put in financial debt in 4 years as I am. Never really came from a well-to-do family. But that was a good alternative for her because it ensured that she'd be fully taken care of. She's gone to school on a military base, to learn how to repair aircraft and helicopters. Practical for life? Not really. But if she makes a 20 year career out of it, she quite possibly will be in better shape than I will be after half a decade of college education.

How is learning a skill like that not practical for life? There are plenty of civilian jobs that deal with aircraft, and the fact that she has a military background only adds to her desirability on the job market. So what is your major in college that is practical for life? I'm interested to know.

Political Science major. International Studies minor. Enrolled in the Honors program at my school. I want to get involved in political outputs. Very interested in international issues and foreign policy, but state and local issues are pretty valuable to me and its likely where I will seek employment. Overal moderate. Registered Democrat but considered claiming an Independent title. I don't support this administration, primarily for its lack of focus on domestic issues. I hope to be working within the public sector to improve public life AT HOME. I'll be working for freedom without pointing a gun at an insurgent.

That's a pretty ambitious goal. Too bad you'll probably make about the same amount of money as someone who does point a weapon at insurgents, for about 10 years I'd say. Good luck.

<------------military. did you know the majority of all casualties overseas for all nations canada usa britain and the other countries in afghanistan and iraq... THE POSITIVE MAJORITY have been from friendly fire. from American troops specifically. i don't think we'd even have such a big war issue if we trained our troops not to shoot friendlies. america has the highest friendly fire rate in the world by a longshot, america has 93% more friendly fire incidents than the runner up (britain).

I laugh at Bush, he's a shitty president.
