And to hone in on the point I am trying to make..

You can change your job any time, and eventually gain the ability to select a support job. With a support job, you can effectively "hold two jobs at once." Want to be a warrior who can cast white magic? How about a monk with black magic? With support jobs, the combinations are endless!

As your adventures progress, you may find that new jobs become available. Why not try your hand at learning the ways of the bard, ranger, or beastmaster?

Now that you have heard it from the people that made the game, why don't you moaning close-minded people just realize and accept with grace that any combination can work with the right person behind the keyboard.

I am sure everyone noticed it...but people who actually DO that are low in numbers because

1. No one would ever invite a Mnk/blm.

2. Why WOULD YOU WANNA BE ONE.

that is all.

Ha ha ha ha.... That is so damn funny... Like the shit they have in bradyguide...

I whole-heartedly agree with SE! Play whatever you want, I don't care, your MNK/BLM ass can sit in Jeuno for as long as you want with your flag up.

Have fun and enjoy!

If you could effectively solo to 75 excluding BST, that statement could have some legitimacy.

Its funny that i stumbled onto this topic at this time cause i was going to make a topic in a similar vein... it mainly had to do with the reason that you absolutly, positively, under no circumstances, even if you wanted to, cant do SHIT except maybe fish... w/o a party. Its retarted, i know ppl who quit and either go to WoW, or just dont do anything cause "I cant get a party for X amount of hours/days/weeks/MONTHS" or cause "I need a full party of High lvls for this quest that i would like to do." Not to mention the fact that there are jobs, great jobs, that ppl dont want cause they either "dont do enough damage" or their sub isnt exactly the one they want, or the ever-present tey are {too weak}... that last one really pisses me off, using the auto translator cause they dont want to admit that they dont feel like letting someone in cause they dont wnat to work someone in to the SC or that they dont want to work a lil harder for the xp they recieve. And i dont mean things like thf/brd i mean jobs like Monk or Dragoon where they get overshadowed by jobs like Ranger or War/Mnk over Nin/War. And i know that there are just times when the party needs certian job combos for specific effects, but its becoming more and more biased and ppl get tired and quit because of this. It cant be that hard to make it so that you can party by yourself and still get decent XP... i mean WoW did it fairly easy, and look at all the ppl they got from FF! I mean if they made it so that anything over EP cant hand you your ass why not? Ppl would be more inclined to solo other then just use BST when they want to get xp on their own. Sorry for the rant style post but its been 2 days that a ls member has beed contemplating quiting cause he cant get invites as a DRG, and its really bumming me out, when i hear that ppl want to leave cause of stupid shit in the game i feel bad for them. i mean they pay money to a company so they can have fun and feel entertained, not so they can get depressed over being last picked in kickball at age 22+, it makes NO SENSE.

/shrug

Maybe they meant pre-party levels. I stuck RDM on my WAR when leveling her to 10 and felt like a badass dia'ing gobs before chopping them down :) Or curing myself if I needed it. ***AGAIN this was when I was soloing a low level job....not seeking a party - but it was still good times <3

I just want to point out that yes you are correct. This is a party-centric game. If someone does not like it, then they should leave for WoW or something else. There's nothing wrong with that, this game just isnt for everybody.

This is absolutely true. With support jobs, you can indeed be a MNK/BLM, and yes, the combinations are unlimited. Does it say anywhere in there that they're useful job combos? Anywhere at all?

All they're saying is that it's possible to do, not that it works. They picked ridiculous combinations -on purpose- in order to emphasize the point that you can sub anything on anything, not that there's any reason you'd want to in a party.

Well, maybe the were low on thf last night, but someone in my LS was thf/bkm (don't ask why  thf is 41 by the way) not looking and got 2 invites in 10 minutes.....

Chances are with a weird combination you'll spend one week seeking, but this goes to show that you could still get invites, if people are desperate enough.. :?

This came off like you were trying to ridicule me so.

I don't think anyone was trying to ridicule you - you aren't the one who wrote the little blurb, SE was....

The problem is not the party-centric gameplay (if somebody just wants to solo then FF isn't the game for them), the problem is lots of people adhering to some rather fascist rules about what's "right" in the game.

Take the mnk/blm example that's being kicked around. Sure, it's going to do less damage than mnk/war, the blm spells are going to be resisted to hell, the magic bursts are going to be weak, etc.

But the question should be... so what ? It's still mostly a mnk and if the player wants to have a bit of fun with his sub, there should be no problem with that.

Clearly, a party of "good jobs" will xp faster that one that includes one (or several) of "having fun" jobs. But that means good players and good site selection too, which isn't always how it goes down.

I could understand a "discrimination" against sub-optimal jobs or job combinations from "perfect" parties. That's usually how it goes for good statics and many Js.

But anybody who says "no, noob, i won't invite your mnk/blm" and then fails to get *at least* chain 5 consistently for 2+ hours is just dumb.

Elitism requires being elite. People should have the good sense to either *be* it, or just let everybody else have their fun.

I'm in the mood to nit-pick today. The combinations are not endless. With 15 possible main jobs and 14 possible subs for each, there are only 210 combinations.

I'll agree with that.[/b]
