Disagreement with Banning

But i thought we were doing some community standards bullshit where we had to be nice to each other...
 
That's also why there's a section specifically devoted to real life discussion. 90% of the site IS devoted to game related topics, but that particular section is not. People who don't care about other people's lives(as in people on a game forum, not necessarily in their own lives), shouldn't go in. Although it's still open to everyone... not much can be done about that.
 
On the other hand there's something called self-control. When I read the post all I thought was "emo." People tried to justify it or whatever, that doesn't matter... the point is that if you don't have anything appropriate to say to someone that is a bit troubled just be mature and don't say it at all.

It's not like Blackchaoshero said or did anything stupid, and I'm sure he's already dealing with enough shit as it is. However, I do agree... I don't think his post was worth a one-week ban.

Number 1 rule of the internet.

Don't post about anything that's emotional to you. You will get offended and in the end it's your own fault.
 
I thought the number 1 rule was "pics or it didn't happen."
 
Nah, it was worth the one week ban. It was a classless jab at a serious situation. A lot of his posts are pretty stupid, now that I think about it.
 
i dunno, i didn't get offended or say a word. was my thread. Keits got banned for less.

*edit* never forget, it may be 4 years later but we can always bring it back to keits.
 
This is a judgement call really. It was a serious discussion about an unfortunate and serious situation. I agree something should've been said or done, but a week ban seems a bit much. I probably would've just sent a pm and talked to him about it and ask that he keep such comments to himself in the future, personally. But since there's really no set of rules for this site anymore and is 95% moderator judgement call, seems okay to me.
 
Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same boat with you on the decision, Rappa. One week seems over the top but eh, whatever. It's just a week, lol.

I wasn't really active at QCDN when Keits was active however...I recall the community back then really disinterested me because it was too easy to offend people unless you sugarcoated everything.

Hell Vang used to offend people for saying stuff that's become the norm now... like... "use food or you are a gimp."

who is keits? WHO IS KEITS?! you new people... jeez. the first instance of a mod running amok, dude gave himself a pc+3 and said sculli sucked and dude gets banned.
 
are we sure sculli isnt around anymore? In this case, black wasnt even offended and the other guy still got temp banned. Was someone offended for black? And all the locked threads... why lock em? Too much moderation and not enough boobs.

well, was a bit of a serious topic, the next 5 of 6 posts were people telling him off, prolly got the post reported a few times... we've all seen teh stuff and laughed at the jokes, i guess he just didn't see the fine line and walked across it, then again, does anyone actually miss him?
