is it just me, or have the average player become more lazy, self-centered, assholish and crappy?

This is something I have noticed the last few days while *TRYING* to level Summoner. And today it was especially noticable. I've been seeking for a total of 12 hours, been in three parties.

First party gathered together in Jeuno, then went to Crawlers Nest. We fight a total of three battles (which took aproximately 30 min, btw...), and then the DRK lvled. Directly after this, the leader and the DRK left. At which time the other members just said {Disbanding party}. Forgetfull as I am, and pissed of, I decided to take my rage out on Carbuncle and sent him 1 vs 1 on a IT Rumble Crawler. He, offcourse, died. Which resulted in me HP'ing to Jeuno.

A couple of hours later I got another party. This time in Crawlers Nest too. Once again, the party leader suddenly remembered he had an important meeting after taking notice that the melees just sucked, resulting in 5 min battles agaisnt something that shouldn't take more then 1 min tops (VT beetles should *not* take 5 min ladies and gentlemen). So he left, and the others decided that they would leave too. Another three-fight -> Disbanding experience...

Third and last party today was a real experience -.- After fighting things for 30 min, and raking in a whole 1k exp, the WAR decided he would be better of dead. Went and attacked a spider, died, HP and disbanded. Rest of the party followed, resulting in another waste of time.

Anyone want to sell 12 hours of their life? I want mine back.

Nope.

I think it's not that the people are crapping out, it's just that us SMNs have bad luck. At least you actually got parties, I used to just hang out in Jeuno all day to get one party and get a whopping 500 EXP. It's a curse... plain and simple.

Yeah, tell me about. Ive been 55 for about a month now. Not because I havent been trying, but because I dont get pts or when I do they disband very soon after. Oh well, such is life, I'm the one that wanted to lvl DRG.

Nothing to do with the class really. I had the same problem on my RDM at that lvl. Usually pt's getting me killed before getting exp, then disbanding. For now I try to find friends who have alts the same lvl as mine to lvl with. It usually gets rid of this annoying problem >.<;

I've been having the same type of experience. I'd been thinking about it for a while, but had been hoping it was just me being used to longer term parties in the 70s - I'm afraid that's not the case.

Last night I wanted to level my 23 RNG. Got a party, it went for about a half hour of actual in-Qufim-combat. Backup tank levels, party leader and backup tank leave almost immediately and without warning, transfering leader to me. I'm sitting there with 2 japanese players, a N/A tank and myself. We get another japanese player, and another DD/tank and start going in Lower Delkfutt. Things go fine for a half hour, then the original tank announces he has to go on r/l errand, the other n/a player suddenly has linkshell business he has to do. Leaving me with three decent, polite Japanese players, one of whom has only been there a half hour.

After not finding a decent replacement in the next twenty minutes, I told them I couldn't reform a full party, and we disbanded by agreement - but I don't think they were very happy - especially the one who'd only been there a half hour. I know I wouldn't have been, in their shoes.

If I can't stay less than three hours, I let people know at the start. When I do have to leave, I try very hard to give at least a half hour's notice- an hour if I can. I haven't been successful at this 100% of the time, but I really do try to do others this courtesy, so the parties that do get put together will result in some MEANINGFUL experience for everyone in them. And yeah, it pisses me off when others don't show that kind of consideration and leave others holding the bag.

It all comes down to pty set up. If you have a crappy pty.....then thats all it is and nothing is gonna save that. Some ppl see it earlier on and try to get out of the mess without seeming like a total asshat...which infact....they just make themselves look even worse.

I would like it better if someone just out and said it, "Hey...this pty sucks, i'm sorry...but I dont want to waste my time, goodbye."

Some ppl dont like waiting for the right type of ppl (and i'm not just talking about the right jobs....which that is important....but also good quality players ). They want to get the pty started and get over anxious.

One time I took a hour looking for the perfect members for a pty.....that netted me about 6k exp per hour. Sure, i've had better exp...but thats still totally worth it vice forming the pty in 10 min and then having.....well.....the experiances you have had. It sucks and I do feel for ya and hope that you have better luck in the future.

Yeah. I notice lots of times now that parties try to invite me. Lv60'ish parties usually party in far-off areas, like Valley of Sorrows which takes like 30 minutes to get to. So there I am, going there. We get there half an hour later, then we fight 3 monsters and disband because 2 or more people have to go.
I thought it was just me who had bad luck like that because everyone else I talked to said that yes, it was just me. Too bad I'm not. Sorry to hear about your misfortunes.

I get the same thing with my Thief all the time now....30 minute parties when someone decides they can "do better" someplace else. I also get invited as a replacement alot of times only to party for a few minutes so someone can level and then they disband leaving me alone in places like Cape Terrigan on the upper levels of Boyahda Tree. I'm loving Thief, more so than Black Mage actually, but I'm struggling just to get a reliable party now because so many people are selfish and don't give due notice before leaving.

Take INITIATIVE!

thats the only way to get consistent good parties.

If you want a party, make your own, and KNOW who you are inviting.

Thats the ONLY way to make good exp whenever and wherever you want to.

I learned this early on with my first job to 75, paladin, because I had trouble getting invites post 60. Learning this also helped me with my THF to 75 afterwards (all you thieves know what im talkin about).. and believe it or not, it also helped me with my bard to 75. I wasnt quite satisfied with the parties I was getting as bard, so I still made my own lol.

That's kind of the problem. I party in EU times, and most people playing then are JP players. And as you may or may not know, JP players more often then not say {Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass} if you invite them. and thus, the only choice left for me is to seek. That is, unless I want to spend counltless of hours startign a party. Although, that is also hard since most people leave after an hour and decide to seek instead.

Were not all crappy selfish and lazy
Im always looking for a party and i always stay til the end except once but that was important but still not all people are bad.

But i have an example,
I was in Yhotunga Jungle and got lost lol so i asked a blm who was alone and doing nothing i asked Warp II please?
And he replies no im busy
and i go doing what?
and he says checking my equipment....
and im like sorry for disturbing you
and he does a nasty emote and leaves

I guess you have to have a knack for it. Every once in a while, ill even lead a primarily JP pt.. I do admit its more difficult, and some wont even give you a chance.. but usually if you just add alot of stupid ^^ faces and show youre a nice, easy-going guy, they will give your PT a shot.

if you've ever talked to me in-game you'd know that's all I do XD

FFXI was going down the pooper when I quit and it still is. It's not what it was, and it never will be again. The new generation will be XBox Live kids with the 360 launch, which will make it all much worse than it already is. "lol u wanna take dis to halo 2 bi0tch?"

The old generation is fading away, and the ones that are back 10 to 1 will be gone soon. Also a bunch of new MMO's coming out soon, that will take a lot of people in itself.

Ever wonder why most MMO's never last more than a couple years at most? It's because somthing new comes out/the players get fed up with the bullshit that comes along and quits. This one in particular is past its prime, and is now on the spiral downhill to the inevitable crash that ends the game. I don't predict this game being very popular at ALL by next Christmas, could be wrong, but I doubt it.

As the game gets popular, the general IQ and skill level of the players gets lower. The thing about this game is that it is not incredibly easy and when you have people that just plain suck it turns the whole experience sour.

The problem might be with the job class too? If there is a White Mage or Black Mage or Bard, Summoners and Red Mages get picked last.

The job I seeked the longest with was Summoner, I got pissed off and just solo-ed and asked a friend to PL, yes, I solo-ed from 21-34...and during those hours, I was seeking and NEVER got an invite. ;_; I must have the worst luck ever.

only thing i can say is when i lvling low lvl jobs and i have few left is that alot of the new ppl coming in are younger group and there parents always drag them away to do stupid crap. i just wished that if u have parents dont lvl jobs that are important lol.

When you get a group that clicks, and everyone seems pretty vocal about how good things are going, propose a static party. I've gotten faster and more consistant exp since I entered a static party than I ever did with pickups. I had to return to pickups over the last few days to catch up to my static and it was a hard reminder at how inconsistant the quality of the average pickup party is. If the party you're in is great, and everyone agrees it's great, and you all know you're not likely to see another great party in a very long time, what do you have to lose in proposing to make the great exp a regular thing?

Your so right about all the stupid ^^ faces, it does help with the JP. =P

It also helps sometimes if you throw in some stupid JP sentence you learn off allakazham.
