Discussion: scheduling reality. ALL leaders, please read.

Hey LS leaders,

So as many of you have noticed, we've clearly reached the saturation point on Tuesdays and Saturdays. I still think we can all coexist fine, but we'll all have to make concessions.

Here are just some ideas I'm going to toss out.

Problem: There's been kind of a "tradition" of "1 xarca + 1 glacier per weekday per month per LS". The spirit is good, because it makes scheduling straightforward for both the Tues+Sat LSs and the Tues only/Sat only LSs, and attempts to give fair allotment to all. The common logical fallacy has been the misinterpretation of the aforementioned tradition as "2 glaciers + 2 xarca per month per LS". Putting 2 xarcas on a saturday in a month means you've just taken 50% of all available xarcas for that month. Even if you have no xarcas on Tuesay, you're screwing over the Saturday overlappers.

We are at the point where even if the tradition is observed in the strictest sense,, we don't have enough xarcas and glaciers to go around. So, what do we do?

1) Sat+Wed LSs:

Please consider moving more of your northlands towards the wednesdays. There are far less LSs on that day, and it would help the others a lot on Saturday.

2) Sat+Tues LSs:

I think we should make the "1 xarca + 1 glacier per weekday per month MAX per LS" a rule just so that we have a baseline to go off of. We also need to accept that at this point, the average will be more like "3 northlands per month, with no more than 2 of any zone" The rule will prevent excessive going back-and-forths, so it's a start.

3) In general:

As far as AF drops go, Tavnazia is superior to glacier and xarca per unit of time spent in there. I know the currencyis a critical function of a dynamis LS, but I strongly urge you to try to make tav an option. My LS has gone through some member turnaround, so it's not an option right now, but once the new people have access, we will try to substitute as many xarcas as possible with tav. For our LS, xarca is really only a necessity for fragments or member restrictions (too many on roster, or too few with access to tav).

Try the dreamlands, yes, I will tell you now that the average coin drop is less than cities, but it's short and sweet.

As a linkshell that only runs on Saturdays I agree with this. I try to give my shell 2 icelands but sometimes isnt doesnt work out. I am willing to work with other shells as our run time is at the end of most of them, but even if we schedule an iceland run my shell in particular has to battle the Ged and his shells, as they will just up and steal our zone if we are even 1 min late entering.

Too top all of this off there seems to be a new saturday shell starting.

I agree Saturdays are rather crowded. I realize that Wed is a good day because there are only 3 shells. And I will make an effort to try to put our Glaciers on Wed but I can't promise or make Glacier a Wed only zone because we do have people that only run on Sat and this would leave them out. Basically when I am making our schedule I try to look at what we did on which days for the previous month and switch them so our Sat only people are not missing out on any zones. As far as replacing Xarc with Tav it is not something we are really looking at because we attempt a win everytime we do Xarcabard as we have many members interested in Shadow items.

I agree as a community we need to come to a agreement that 1 Xarc + 1 Glacier per day thing espically on Sat.
