Yeah the title kindof says it all, I'm stuck...on Mid-Boss.
I'm at battle 6-6 I believe (the third fight with Mid-Boss) and I've just gotten my ass handed to me three times in little less than an hour. So I ask everyone, Any suggestions? I have a feeling that I'm just going to have to shut up and do some powerleveling on mission 5-3 (which I figured out in a very short time is a sucky and time consuming way to level, though it does work..) but I was hoping to avoid alot of PLing til I got Gordon and Jennifer at the end of Chapter 9.

The basic "routine" of 6-6 happens to me as follows:
I'm surrounded at the beginning by things that I can't currently remember the name of...but regardless I'd say there are about 9 of them. They're not too hard (and Mid-Boss and his two Gargoyle Cronnies leave me alone for the most part) but I'm only able to take out about 2-3 of them before my turn is done. On their first turn they maul my mages and then put the rest of my party to sleep with Demon Powder (I believe the attack is called) and then I either A) Can't wake up and get slaughteredAny in a few turns, sooner if Mid-Boss and the Gargoyles join in. Or B) I'm able to wake up one or two people and put up a meaningless fight til Mid-Boss joins in and slaughters me. One way or another, it ends badly for me.

Any suggestions as to what I should do? I'll leave my levels and such at the bottom of the post.

While I'm here I'll ask a few more questions.
1. I'm really looking forward to Gordon and Jennifer (Thursday and Kurtis too, but I probably won't end up using them). Are they worth the effort?
2. Anyone else find it odd that as much as Laharl talks down to Mid-Boss, Mid-Boss usually puts up a pretty fucking good fight. The three fights with him have been my hardest ones so far.
3. Does Mid-Boss join you eventully? (Simple yes or no would be fine, I really don't want to ruin the story that much ^^.)
4. I really don't like Monsters, Are they worth using?
5: Transmigration. I understand how it works for Laharl and the Story characters, but how does it work exactly for the created vassals? If I were to do this with say, my Ronin, I know she would revert to level 1 but would she stay a Ronin with a few new ability points or would she be given the chance to move up to say Samurai or Bushi instead of staying a Ronin?

Anyways, thanks for any suggestions and help you can give. I know its a bit of a long post. ^^

Sorry im not helping but im just wondering is Disgaea worth buying?

To be honest, it kindof depends.

If you liked, say, Final Fantasy Tactics, then yes I'd pick it up without a doubt. If you're hardcore into leveling and making your characters as absolutly strong as they could be, then yes. There are people that have spent over 600 hours playing the game just leveling up.

But otherwise, its a pretty old looking RPG that does have a pretty decent but very funny story. Personally, I'd have to say its worth picking up. But if you have gamefly or some online rental thing, I'd rent it first just to see for yourself as its pretty hard to find a copy anyways without ordering it online.

(Its early sorry if that is kindof jumbled...)

Here's the answers to your questions:

1) Gordon with an Axe can do some great damage, just need to reincarnate a few times to improve his ATK stat. Jennifer is a standard fist melee unit, Thursday has a sweet 150% apititude in all stats except RES (he has 50%), but he's limited to monster weapons, and his personal skills are somewhat basic. Kurtis is another standard unit with monster only weapons, I won't spoil what happens with him though.

2) LOL, wait till you open the bonus dungeons, you'll wish for the days of Mid-Boss, and the item world becomes much harder with the high level weapons.

3) Nope, he never joins.

4) Some of the high level monsters are useful, Dragons are usually the best monster units, as they tend to have the best stat growth overall.

5) Yes, when you reincarnate a created character your given the chance to change them completely, only limit I believe is Humanoids can only stay Humanoid or Prinny, never into monsters, and vice versa. This is how you can make a mage learn all 4 schools of magic or teach characters spells they can never use originally. Or you could go the Master/Pupil method with standing next to them and using it till it reaches level 1, then it becomes yours permantatly.

Well, besides the leveling route, the only things I could suggest is this. Visit the item world and try to get the specialist "Amnesiac" (sp?) He boosts your sleep resistance, get a few on Laharl or you other main characters.

Another thing you can do, as soon as the fight starts, lift up the enemies that are sleeping you. This forces them to attack the unit they're being held by, this should stop the sleep attacks for a turn or 2. Remember though, you can't attack and then lift, so you'll have to make a sacrifice or 2, if you got another question just send a message, good luck!

if you want a good way to powerlevel.. the zombie level with like.. 20ish zombies :P throw them on each other, they get up to like... 250 if you combine them all and you can kill him (prolly not maybe.. dunno your levels and such) and get good levels.

YES AND HELL YES! Good game when you want to get away from FFXI. It's addicting as hell too.

I like the tutorial section in part 2 lol when it asks " Do you want to go through the tutorial?"

1. Yes
2. Hell no

Lmao

WTF pwned Mid-Boss.

I guess leveling was all I really needed. Though I had forgotten about lifting up enemies and holding them through the end of the turn too, so that was helpful.

And after all day playing I just got Thursday, Jennifer and Gordon.
Great, great, great storyline additions. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they play out. Currently on Chaper 10-1.

As for using them in my party...:
They're not bad at all ^^. I don't really use monsters, so Thursday stays in the character board thingy with Hoggmieser and everyone else I don't use. Gordon is starting out a bit slow, but I believe that's because he's not too high a level with Axe yet (though his S ranking with it is a welcome surprise, I was expecting A or B). He still pwns though. Jennifer is actually quite surprising. I figured she easily wouldn't be enough to replace my Brawler. Surprised the heck out of me with her power and such, so she'll defonetly stay in my party. (I should mention too that I just saw a scene with an NPC named Kurtis that seemed pretty interesting ^^)

Anyways, I've started thinking about getting started on the characters that I want to work on for "end-game" of sorts. I was thinking something like:
Laharl
Etna
Flonne (I <3 Flonne)
Gordon
Jennifer
Divine Majinn
Angel
Healer
Thief
-something I'm not quite sure of yet. Any suggestions?-

Alot of my friends have suggested looking into getting a Ninja or just keeping my Ronin for the last spot.

Well that's about all. I appreciate the help from everyone. If I need more I defonetly know where to post. Thanks a billion!

How high is your thief? Only suggestion i have is replace that with like a ninja or a DD mage, but only if it is really low. Having my high level Thf with me on the last fight is one of the only reasons i won (Stole the boss' testamate which was very nice to have.)

But do you already have the Majinn and Angel class? Those were the last things i had to get and i basically gave up because it got too hard to level my people up high enough and i basically just got sick of it. Not a walk in the park.

And final suggestion is get disgaea 2 if you havent already.

Some late advice...
1. Get Phantom Brave.

...That's all.
And for a second I thought Vang posted this, and I was ever gonna drop that he liked such a cutesy game.
But you're not Vang. You're not Vang at all. My dream is destroyed...

I've just started leveling my Thief (I Transmuted him or whatever) again, so he's not very high. But I love stealing everything in sight, so he's a must have.

As for Majinn and Angel, No I don't have them yet. But when I play I take some time out to level my other batch of characters in effort to make life leveling to get the two classes later a little easier.

Just ordered Disgaea 2 yesterday ^^.

Once I'm done with the Disgaea games, I actually plan on getting Phantom Brave and a few of the other Nippon Ichi games.

As for not being Vang, I'm sorry I destroyed your dreams Mishy.

That seems like a good enough line up for endgame, just remember to not let your thief lag behind since you need him to acquire the best weapons endgame.

Your line-up will probably change once you've started getting the other hidden characters, so chances are you'll be dropping probably Etna and maybe the angel for them. I would say more, but I don't want to spoil it, needless to say their special attacks are useful for clearing large groups of enemies.

Honestly, it seems endgame better to just focus on 3-4 main units and make them into powerhouses, 10 units is way too timeconsuming, but if you got the patience, go for it.

My main time I remember was Laharl, Divine Majin, Thief, *1st hidden character*, and of course a Prinny!

Couple more questions for you Pupusa and everyone else.

When does so called "end-game" start? Do I play through the main storyline, beat the final boss and then get to play the game somemore after I beat it (like given the chance to save after the last boss and go just mess around like I rule the place)? Or do I stop doing the storyline before the last boss to do all the leveling, getting classes, finding ultimate weapons, ect stuff?

Something I don't quite understand. Why is thief so important? Do they just have a head over heels better stealing success rate? (Hell are they the only ones that can steal for that matter? I've never tried it with anyone else.)

Which weapons are usually considered the best? I've realized that sword is pretty reliable and to be honest I've come to rely on Flonne and her bow skills quite a bit too (except friggen' Delta shot, which is worthless). Otherwise though, most everything else seems to have its perks at times but mostly tend to annoy me. Have I found the cream of the crop in Sword and Bow? Or am I missing something with the other weapons?

I should mention that patience isn't something I'm so hot with so I'll start thinking about lowering my "end-game" party size. I know I'll defonetly want to use Laharl and Flonne, everything else is up in the air though. Probably a Majinn or Angel and a Thief will join in too, with a 5th to be decided later. Gordon is really really awesome as is Jennifer, but everyone I've talked to tells me to wait and try and get the hidden characters and see how I like them.

Anyways, thanks again for the help ^^

Endgame could be considered once you've gotten into the Cave of Trials. You need to vote for it in the dark Senate, and even then you need to persuade by force (I think you can get it through votes, but its very difficult).

You also unlock other dungeons through the dark senate, 2 which give you those 2 hidden characters I mentioned earlier.

Thieves are important because they are the only characters in the game who can have a 99% steal rate. No matter how much you train the other characters, the highest they'll ever get it 50%. You need a thief because all the best equipment in the game is stolen, usually from a hidden boss or a item god 2 on a level 100 item.

Swords are considered the best usually, with fists and axes being useful right alongside them. Bows are useful also, but they're damage output doesn't hold up well at the end. Hell, the very best weapon in the game is the Yoshitsuna, a sword with stat increases in everything (including movement) and attacks from 3 spaces away, so swords easily takes the top spot. Axes can lower an enemies defense, useful for starting combo chains, and fists force enemies to move, incredibly useful for the item world later on.

Once you beat the game your given a New Game+ option. You get to keep all levels, items, created characters, and money you earned, but storyline character still have to join you in thier original parts in the story, so you won't be using Flonne or Gordon's crew again till you've reached their parts again. New game+ is mainly to view all the hidden endings in the game, I think there was 8 in total, but the thing is meeting the requirement for one disables another one, so you need to make 2-3 playthroughs I believe to view them all.
