Disk Drives

Well, my main drive(C) has always given me bother, and never shuts up about having low disk space, so I decide to move POL and FFXI to my secondary drive, which is bigger (H).

Being the dumbass that I am, I moved it wrong and so when I tried to get on FFXI, me feeling chuffed with myself for making a great decision, and it didn't work.

So I had to reinstall all of the disks, POL, FFXI, both expansions.
*sigh* Sucks ass.

Currently in the process of POL updating version and then I'm gonna have to register everything again.

Did you just cut/paste (drag/drop) the whole directory from one drive to another?

If so, that would definitely explain your issues

Yeah, I did. I got a heavy verbal beating from my dad about it, saying that I should have used the swap files and page files, which I have no clue about. I'm halfway through checking and unpacking the files in the FFXI files update, had no problems re-registering, my content IDs were all fine and still running so, I've reinstalled it on the bigger drive, and this isn't likely to happen again, thank god getting FFXI withdrawals.

Swapfile pagefile (Huh?!)

If you want to move a program or game to a different drive, usually the easiest way is to uninstall / reinstall. The game didn't work because your Windows Registry was still pointed to your C:, whereas the game files were on H:. I'm not really sure what the pagefile has to do with that, unless your old man was suggesting to move the pagefile to a different drive, which usually clears up 500-1500mb and only requires a reboot.

Not saying that he doesn't know what he's talking about... after seeing that Ren & Stimpy episode (where they go to America to live with little Timothy) last night, I'm afraid of everyone's dad.

you could have saved yourself a LOT of work, if you just had modified the registry entry for the PlayOnline viewer and the game.

Ah well, it's all reinstalled now, just waiting for everyone else to wake up to test if it's working(I go to early morning swimming, so me and my dad are up before everyone else )
