I played the demo, but now I'm not so sure I'll buy it. The idea of playing as a taru and whipping Cloud's ass has appeal... as does playing as Squall and whipping Cloud's ass... or any character whipping Cloud's ass, but the demo felt like a plotless Crisis Core. Fighting games don't usually excite the pleasure centers of my brain, so this isn't a huge disappointment, but I wanted to like it more.
I wasn't expecting much else other than a Crisis Core battle system where you could fly around and run up walls, which is what Dissidia is, though I like the nostalgia, and a lot of unlockable crap to get in the game when it releases.
I also love how the costumes/ex modes look.
It's fun to me overall and that's all that matters.
There's some plot there, it's just the forces of Cosmos against Chaos, but it's mainly a game for the fans. It's also thought to be a prequel to FFI.
If Dissidia sells well enough overseas and they do a sequel they want to do it with other characters throughout FF history.
I'll be beating it all with each of the characters, though my favorite in the demo was Terra, so I can see myself maining her when it releases, plus she's the heroine from my favorite FF, so it works out.
