That's true. But Terra was his mind slave (With the crown on, of course), so I'd lean more towards her. Esper Burst mode would be cool. :D
Though honestly Celes would be great too, of course. I liked pretty much every FFVI character, so I'd be satisfied with anyone. xD

But man, Zeid and Shadow Lord would be awesome.. We can hope I guess. D:

Both are up in the air in my opinion, since they pretty much reverse roles halfway through the game. Terra is the main character for the World of Balance. And in the World of Ruin, Celes fills in for that.

Personally, I'd rather have Celes, because I don't think Riot Blade would have the potential of being as awesome in a 3D fighter as Spinning Edge could.

You're right, both could be considered the 'main protagonist' at some point. The hero side of things is in desperate need of females, let's hope they both get in. Again, we can hope right?

Edit: Now that I think more about it, Celes was the second magitek knight after Kefka, and it was because of Kefka that she advanced so quickly because he took a special interest in her. It could definitely be either of them, for sure.

FFIV has finally be announced for Dissidia:

The character countdown is almost over now, people. With the confirmation of Cecil and Golbez as Final Fantasy IV's respective light and darkness ambassadors, we now know the identities of most Dissidia alumni. Final Fantasies I through IV and VIII through X are now complete, while villains for VI and VII have also been revealed.

All that's really left is to figure out who the heroes of VII (no-brainer really ... unless a Caith Sith surprise is in store) and VI (more difficult to gauge considering characters shared the spotlight equally) are. That, and what's the fate of V -- in or not? Lots of conflicting reports on that one so we'll wait and see. Maybe TGS is the time to get those last inkling details before the big release this December.

Cecil can also switch between Dark Knight and Paladin on the fly apparently.
 
I vote Barret for the VII hero. Not because I don't want cloud, but because I want to play as Mr. T.
 
I bet it'll be Zack D: but Aeris is the real hero! then again, in FFX Yuna was the real hero of the game/world.. ah well
 
Cecil swapping between the two jobs would have been very cool in FFIV, but being able to do it in Dissidia will make up for it!

Cloud will more than likely be the hero from FFVII, simply because it's a 20th anniversary game, celebrating the first ten games. Zack had a prominent role in VII, but it wasn't until Crisis Core that he stole the spotlight. Even if it really should've been on him in the first place.
Though I'd love to shoot some people up as Barret. Luckily there'll be some 'hidden' characters (Probably Zack, hopefully more of the female heroines as well).

Man, can't wait for this game. D:

Square Enix had a new trailer for Dissidia: Final Fantasy to show in their Closed Mega Theater at Tokyo Game Show. Since we’re looming in on Dissidia’s December release date Square Enix spilled the beans and revealed the complete cast. Exdeath sparred with Bartz who was wielding two swords. His EX Mode attack surrounds him with floating blades. Terra appeared shortly afterwards throwing magic spells from a distance. In her EX Mode she morphs into a pink Esper. And to nobody’s surprise Cloud shows up in battle with Sephiroth.

HELL YEAH!! Terra Esper Mode, finishing move! I knew they were going to do that to her, just had to!

Cecil is badass too, can't wait to see his moves. Hope they're all light and flashy.
 
I saw the amano art for the good guy's goddess and I thought it was Altana.
