I was thinking about this for the last couple days and I started to wonder about what I have learned over the years about diversity and all that kind of stuff and I came to somewhat of a strange realization about the irony that some of the people on the left should possibly consider.
Now for a long time I have actually been a believer in diversity. I think that unique perspectives give more ideas and with more ideas better outcomes typically emerge… I just don’t think that the government has any right to mandate diversity through EEO and programs like that.
The irony part comes into play when I thought about the fact that the same people who push for diversity in the workplace through EEO and the like are also the people who are pushing for a “level playing field”. The issue in my mind becomes if the playing field is level at the start doesn’t that make the workforce less diverse or is diversity purely a skin tone and not a diversity of experiences. Has diversity become less of a tool for success in the workplace and more of a tool for social engineering in the workplace?
I have been thinking about this subject quite a bit and I was wondering anyone else’s opinions on the subject.
