I was debating the two. Now, I have healing magic capped as well as merited since it supposedly reduces the interrupt rate as well as giving a small boost to the healing power of cure. That leaves 8 for either enhancing or divine. I'm leaning towards divine because Flash is pretty much guaranteed. I haven't seen that many flash resists. I think maybe once if ever. Also, the cast time is really fast so no need to worry about interrupts. On the other hand, for the rare occasion you may go PLD/RDM the enhancing might help. Thoughts?

well if you really don't think you'd need any other magic merits for other jobs for pld I'd prolly go enhancing for stronger phalanx/stoneskin/barspell for /rdm which is actually a very nice sub for soloing or a number of fights where you are more worried about magic damage.

divine I see as no benefit for pld, flash gives hate even if it were somehow resisted and you better not be wasting mp on holy.

really though this should be the last thing you merit after everything else is completely capped.

Thats exactly what it is. My PLD merits are capped, all my generic as well except for 8/16 in magic. I considered leveling Divine for repose on my WHM or possibly enfeebling if I ever plan to pick up RDM to 75.

or possibly enfeebling if I ever plan to pick up RDM to 75.

This. not only would it help at 75, pre-meriting would make it easier to land enfeebles as you leveled. And enfeebling magic merits to RDM are a far greater benefit than any magic skill merits are to PLD.

Enfeebling magic merits are also very nice on WHM in lowman groups or anytime you don't have a RDM available to enfeeble a mob.

Enhancing Magic merits are also nice on WHM too as they raise the potentcy of your bar spell.

I would recommed dropping the Healing Magic merits and going 8/8 Enfeebling Magic and 8/8 Enhancing Magic with your current situation.

Shiva, Leviathan and Garuda have all resisted my Paladin's flash before. :shok: So I'm going to assume the other avatars do too.

Other than that Divine is easy to cap out in Dynamis/Einherjar espeacially if you're kiting stones. -_-;

So I have to agree with Jakey and the others, Enhancing/Enfeebling merits would be best. :biggrin:

Yeah, on anything that matters, flash is used mostly for hate. I'm pretty sure you get most if not almost the same hate on resists.

Extra skill doesnt alter the spell interrupt rate. You basically wasted a bunch of merits. It was tested using a sj and then the main job to see if the difference in skill did anything vs chigoes several months ago.

Paladin BEST job EVER

Great job Jakey that's a really COOL Signature :)

I see little reason to bother with divine magic skill for PLD's sake. The hate is the same regardless of the result of a spell, as any seasoned PLD/RDM could tell you. If you're going to merit Divine, do it for WHM's sake, not PLD's (better Reposes are always good). Even if you're worried about the spell interrupt rate, some practice at timing Flash will serve you better than merits.

As for Enhancing, that's only likely to come up a lot if you like subbing /RDM. Aside from the effect on Stoneskin and Phalanx, enhancing merits will boost your personal Barspells and your Enspells in the event that you're soloing or you party's not filling those holes with better things. As a serious PLD/RDM who also happens to be a WHM and RDM, I plan to max it out, but depending on your job makeup you may wish to prioritize things unrelated to PLD. -- Pteryx
