Ok i need to post this.. My roomate is a 61thf and received a invite to a pty. 59-61 in Gustav tunnel. Ok Problem #1 Little high for gustav pty but whatever he went..Problem #2 Dizzlewizzle..59sam/thf with a Polearm.. U heard me right a Polearm with like 25ktnl. I check him. NO acc. gear whatsoever. So figured just sporting it in town. We head off to camp. I'm using like 3 DE a battle and this goofy sam uses his ws IF it lands like 1/4 only 160ish dmg..Also had a Melee'n Rdm (Binh)that would not refresh pld /sigh. So I called it, Had to was that bad~ Anywho just throwing this up so He dont get flamed for a bad bad pty..I know we all get bad ptys I just had to post this bc this Sam is one of the worst Melee i have ever seen. yeah i partied with dizzle yesterday too.....
party was weak......
thf (me), pld, rdm, whm, war, sam......
whm didnt have viruna so we sponsored her (13.3k... 2k from each members and 3.3k for herself... she only had 6k).... also didnt have raise2 (i found that out personally around the same time that i learned that raptors in terrigan can hit me for almost 200dmg per hit and have double attack).
but truth be told... we needed a damage dealer!!!
the sam wasnt cutting it really...
blm or rng would have been so much better with that pt setup.

I went mining in palborough once, and I can recall Dizzlewizzle complaining in /shout about a JP Gilseller that steals mining points...naturally with bad spelling and grammar and it was tres annoying. He got a temp /blist for that.

And meleeing RDMs are the bane of my FFXI existance.

Not to deffend Dizz ... he is in my LS .... but dont SAM have an A- rating in Polearm ... the ACC gear is one thing, the Polearm is another. Ive never PT with him, nor do i talk to him much, but I dont know, if he did bad, it was because of the lack of ACC not cuz of the 'arm.

Just because SAM have a good rating in Polearm doesn't make it the best choice for them. Lances are your best choices with a polearm, high damage on them, but are DRG only. Now having both GK and Polearm would be more ideal for this SAM. Depending on the situation and the best possible damage/SC/MB for the mob, they can switch out with the right weapon.
For example, when I was PTing with a SAM in Kuftal Tunnel vs. crabs, we used Tachi: Jinpu > One Inch Punch, because my Raging Fists was doing no more then OIP, and the burst was Gravitation/Stone III with the BLM, more overall damage for us.

There is no need to argue any further, Polearms can be used, they are not th best but CAN be used... Ever see a PLD tank with an earth staff???

OMG A STAFFFFFF? HAHAHAHA?? PLD?? OMG!!

Sometimes it works out. If you want to bash him for his poor gear ... thats understood.
