ok, here's the short stupid story, kinda pissed me off for like maybe 15mins, pretty normal for me, i don't hold gudges.

i'm in an exp PT in Kuftal tunnel 60-62 leveling off gobs and raptors.
i get this /tell from some 61rng that can identify themself if they so choose.
<<"Excuse me, do you have room for a 61rng/nin in your PT anytimes soon" or something like that. yes they were polite about it.
my response was how i felt about it.
>>"-.-"
at this point s/he gets pissed off at me, and tells me their blacklisting me because i'm a prick.
said something along the lines of "I was polite and your just being a dick so i'm blisting you"

At this point i'm pissed off, so i blist them temporarily so as to not further my pissed-offness. after the PT ended, and i was back in jeuno, i removed this person from my blist.

now for my wtf. why do people ask party members if theirs room in the PT their in? i mean really... come on, they're exp'ing. they need to concentrate, for the most part. and your interrupting their chain of thought to try and sneak into a PT. the least you could do is ask the PT leader, not some random member that by their search comment at least they speak english? a large majority of PT's i've been in usuallly end after 1 person has to go. replacing people just causes timelines to get screwy, then you start having ppl leave in 30 minute increments, and party cohesion goes out the window.

as for my being pissed off when i probably shouldn't have. all i can say is that after 3 years of playing this kind of activity has become a sort-of pet peave... lol, oh well.

-end rant
-flame on

I always ask party leaders only, not some random party member. I ask incase there's a potential chance someone else in the party is leaving soon or after a chain. But asking members is just like, silly I have to say.

I think you are going a little overboard, they were polite about it, which on it's own, gives them a 5 out of 5 on respect for me, why couldn't you show him the same amount of politeness? Couldn't have been that hard, if you were really that busy you could've used the respond short cut (ctrl + r) and said "hang on a sec" or even "one sec" 7 keys, it's not difficult, and if it WAS that hard, then you could've waited until the end of the fight and told him. The "-.-" I felt was a bit out of order, he was only asking a question.

I see where you're coming from. Sometimes, I'm just given party leader because the leader went AFK, and then I get a /tell <job> {Do you need it?} . If I really needed you, I would have asked you, my search function works fine.

Like Blue said, I usually tell them "If I needed you, you'd be in the party already." I know how to search. I can understand someone who's been lfg a while trying to go to more drastic means of getting a party but when you build your own groups all the time it gets really annoying.

I like it better when I get head hunted from another PT by another PT leader, that kicks ass.

You could've just said "no one is leaving anytime soon, sorry" and then you wouldn't have had to make a post on the flameboard. Since this person was asking about "anytime soon" and not asking about this exact very moment, he wasn't asking you under the assumption that you had 5 or less party members.

Also, does receiving a tell really distract you so much that you suddenly forget what you're doing in your party for a few seconds?

Maybe not forget, but if I'm typing up a response, I'm leaving my WHM duties behind, you never know, the tank could get critical hit twice in a row while I'm trying to be polite by responding "Sorry, no one is leaving soon."

I agree with Euph, this is pretty much a wasted flame. Even a simple "no" would have worked better than those fucked up faces you all insist on doing all the time. No one knows wtf they mean, and if someone does think they know, they dont.

I see that you are a 60 RDM. Never had to go LFG for 8 hours. If by the off chance someone is leaving soon most long time pt seekers will be more then willing to take the risk of no. Now getting bitchy about getting no is another story altogether.

maybe you never thought of this:

instead of posting here, you should've thought about it first

maybe he was asking, in a non-direct way, "Do you have room for me now? Is anyone leaving soon? Is there a slacker in your party that I can replace?"

these are appropriate questions to ask, and i don't think they deserve to be on qcdn.

try again :o

How do you tell someone in your party "You suck." without actually saying that? Last time that happened to me, the WHM disconnected, and I just told him that we had gotten a replacement, which we had. I would feel so awful to just say "Hey, you suck, get out of my party /remove member".

you tell them they suck. Especially if it is only one member holding the party from having a good XP session. As leader you are responsible for making sure that 5 members of your party have a good time and gain good xp. If one of those 5 is going to make things go slow, they have to go.

It is one of my pet peeves to hear about peoples shitty experience only to hear them tell me they stayed for the duration of the party or didn't replace the lagging member. I quickly tell them to write their story down and submit to be turned into a mini-series cause I don't feel like hearing their shit.

I'd rather have 5 people know that I'm looking out for their time, than one retard think i'm a nice guy for letting him leech XP. Ask that noob last night from Qufim, he's in Taurothars LS his name was darksomething, or somethingdark. Told him what it was for popping off at the mouth to daddy and having unappropiate gear.

I've noticed a recent increase in the number of "Do you have room for a XX/XX in your party?" tells. I don't mind much. It's always when I'm in an NPC trio/party. If I were to have a peeve, it would be getting invites to parties when I'm clearly in a party. Many times I just ignore these. Anyone who gets to 70 without learning the difference between solo and in a party /sea colors probably wouldn't understand all but the simplest phrased reply anyway. I kinda like the "Do you have room" tells because it's good to be proactive.

I've asked before..though it's usually been a party leader IN Jeuno. I am party leader most of the time and I receive these tells frequently (WHM main). No biggy to just politely say you're full. And guess what...I HAVE sent tells back later offering a spot when one opened up. Especially if they were polite with their tells.

Well, a friend of mine's story comes to mind here. He was partying in Kuftal, with a certain DRK. The DRK kept attacking the wrong mobs on pulls (how?), and poisoning them so they couldn't be slept. After three-four wipes caused by him doing this again and again, they finally tell him to gtfo, kick him and get a replacement.

There *are* some cases where you can kick someone for being a moron, and don't need to feel bad. Deliberate stupidity is inexcusable.

P.S. I did Diabolos with this same DRK before, by the way...
He was DRK/NIN with a scythe. That said scythe was hitting for LESS than the Ninja's katana's were. (Her strikes landed for 28-30 damage, he hit for 17 each hit.) And he didn't understand the concept of "Stun order."

Yeah, mistakes are one thing, but...yeah. It's almost shocking how such retard-farm-ism actually exists.

I sometimes have to wait a hours on end for a pty....I'm gonna do whatever it takes to get in an exp pty, but i'll never ask pty members....I always just ask the pty leader. And I only ask them once.....if they dont have room, I just ask them to send a /tell if they need my job later.

Don't call me, I'll call you. I will dodge anyone who asks if there is room in my party as though they had the plague. If you want to sound like you are going to be annoying, sending tells to PTs is the quickest way. There is no good excuse for it, and it only makes the person doing it look bad.

I have not once, EVER, had anyone join a PT in this way that didn't absolutly suck. I see this as a means for people that suck so bad they can't get invites to try and weasel their way into a PT.

What I hate is when the same person will repeatedly ask you if you have openings.

RandomTHF: Any openings in your pt?
Me: <I'm sorry.> <Our party's full.>
RandomTHF: ok

(20-30 minutes later...)

RandomTHF: Hey what about now?
Me: Um.... nope, sorry....

(10-15 minutes later...)

RandomTHF: I really need a party >< Anyone leaving soon?
Me: ><;;;

This actually happened to me last week. >.>
