hello all

just wondering about bst and that it is kinda more solo friendly and teaches a lot of patience.

pretty much i would like to know if playing bst gives a player a better understanding of the game as far as exp per hour patience and knowledge of the game???

i have been told that playing bst will piss some people off because u die alot.

i guess i just would like an opinion because i like the idea of solo play and having my pet do the dirty work for me and me come in when the mobs life is almost done and me finish the job lol.

and also to watchyourstep i would like to thank u for telling me straight up that i have alot to learn it takes alot of guts for somebody to say that
and it also takes guts for me to swallow my pride and say ya know what he is right there is shit load about this game i dont know and i would like to know more about this game.

but in all seriousness watchyourstep thank u man for being honest and speaking your mind.

Playing as a bst teaches you how to play as a bst and nothing else. You use completely different strategies bsting than you do with any other job.

A job doesn't make one more understanding about the game more than another job. The one that online lloks at charts, forums, and has experience is going to be a more understanding character of the game type of player.

Rappa is right on this...

BST deal with mobs day in, day out. They know each and every special attack of the mobs they deal with, the strengths and weaknesses of each kind of mob, etc. All of those are very helpful when you're dealing with things like that.

Now, what BST don't deal with much at all is other jobs. For example.... your average BST, he wouldn't know the strengths and weaknesses of lots of jobs, while he'd know lots about keeping hate where he wants it.

Honestly, i think BST is a hard job, and i respect anyone who takes it up. It takes a lot of patience, and lots of dedication. BST has its uses in non-exp parties too. More than just once, our LS BST 75 has been kind enough to skill up :) (thank ya Weaponslayer!), and he has given lots of advice on regions and mobs. (for example, Attohwa Chasm is sooo much easier exp for both main healer and tank than Labrynth of Onzozo)

My only thing with BST is it's not for everyone... and you get looked down on a lot as the first kind of person to mpk someone (after gilsellers of course ;) )

If you're looking for something new to do, BST is a great way to go, and can make a decent sub too. When i first saw a RDM/BST, i first thought {huh?!}, but there's nothing like it in the world ^^ THF/BST is known as a great NM hunting combo, you get the good drops, with NMs that aren't touched much at all.

Hope this is enough information for ya, i think it's a bit much though

After 20 I'v not died more then 1 or 2 times in a level. And usuly in areas more dangerus then most bst try.

You will get to know what mob's TP moves thay have in Partys.

From yesterday, I'd fear fighting Funguars as I was using for pets in Buya tree, dark spor/silance (something) damage dose like 89-807 damage on T-VT targets. A few times in duo both pets would do dark spore at same time and take out near half the HPs.

Bst exp per hour is different from party (its slower).

It won't give you patience, so you better have some before you start.

Seriously though, the experience you get playing BST compliments the experience you get playing Mage jobs. You learn a lot about hate management.

You can die a lot. What you find is that your life is in your hands. I tend to die because I did something stupid like fought too close to a linking monster, or allowed myself to get pinned in a dead end with 3 gobs at the exit, or tried to charm a linking mob with 3 of his friends standing nearby and the charm failed.

Does playing beast teach you "more"? Probably not. Does it teach you "something"? I think so. Like others said, I would think that a former beastmaster would know monster levels and xp zones and camps like the back of their hand.

Like the white mage who took samurai to 70 and appreciates haste because of it, being a former beastmaster will not leave you clueless. Plus, come on. You're a beastmaster. You have 850 beastcoins and are arguably the best NM killer in the game! It's a darn good asset to have, even if you come out of it relatively green regarding the rest of the game.
