Actually to me it sounds like mokk hit the nail right oin the head.

Customer gets abusive, what do you do? You sit there and take it like a good little boy/girl because there are some people in the corner who will fire you if you don't. Ok maybe not ALL CSR is like that, but Isotopes is at least and i would be shocked if there wasn't more of the same.

when i worked as a csr, they could yell at me all day long and i could give a fuck less. they arent mad at me, they are mad at the company. now, when they start to attack me as a person with insults or whatever, thats when it draws itself from csr to being beligerant and becomes on myself. myself, i wont stand to take abuse to me as a human being.
if you wanna attack the company with foul language or whatever, thats fine. but, when it comes to comments such as "do you understand what im talking about or are you just plain stupid", thats where the line gets drawn and ill be the worst person you ever dealt with.

Your JOB as a CSR is to serve customers, it is NOT to get treated fairly. If you do get treated unfairly then it is your JOB to find a resolution for the customer, NOT a resolution for yourself.

Dish out my paycheck & then you can get to decide what my job entails. And yes duh, this is obviously part of the job, but then like stated earlier... You talk shit to a CSR who hasn't done shit to you & attack them verbally, there is good chance they lose interest in you as a customer & won't be going above & beyond the call of duty to assist you.

Ya I love some of the things that come out of peoples mouths attacking you directly. I love it even more when they immediately ask for a supervisor before you've even accessed their account, which is essential & then they refuse to cooperate & get their info & let you do so. If you want a supervisor or w/e, in some call centers they take over our desk space & phone & want that acct. open before they sit down because they are so damn busy. Plus they want to know what the call is about too so they can quickly gather information for the cust. when they take the call. You ask for a sup. you gotta verify your acct. & briefly explain the problem otherwise in some call centers (mine) the sup. will go take another sup-call where the cust. was willing to provide the necessary info.

Simply put, you don't know your job, and your not very good at it. Learn your job, know what CSR stands for, and a shitty Boss won't be an excuse for doing a bad job anymore. Hell whatever you do, you should be the best at it, if you choose to be a CSR then be the best damn CSR there is, don't sit and whine, do something.

And maybe you'll end up the Boss making the decisions, changes, and rules, and you'll change the stigma that phone companies has, namely having shitty Bosses that just say "uh-huh" and don't do jack-shit.

Well apparently you've found your calling in life & your damn good at it man. Your the best damn asshole I've met on these boards keep it up! Reguarding MY job, I know how to do my job very well thank you. I use what little info & training I've been given, search for more information within the company's internal websites, try to gain access to additional programs I wasn't normally given access to, but are extremely helpful & when the cust. is not a dick to me, I do my best to go above & beyond for them. This whole time it looks like you've been whining about CSRs Rather then trying to close the communication gap, you've turned this thread into a flame war. As for getting myself bumped up to a management position, <No Thanks!>... There is already enough bullshit to deal with working in a call center as it is. People don't take CSR jobs because they like the job, those who do I hope later change their mind after experiencing the woes of the job. Most people take a CSR job because they just need a freaking job & do it for the money.

BTW your Avatar goes good with your personality.

Guys - this is not the Flameboard.

I locked this thread since kiddies can't play nice.
