If you are gonna look for a replacement make sure the PT is sticking together for longer then an hour or so... don't invite me for 30 mins its just a big waste of time and pisses me off.

agreed, I got alot of this crap while leveling my sub in Yhoater, and half the time its a blind invite, which also piss me off.

Sometimes people don't realize that the party is going to break up. I was leader over the weekend, and this happened to me. I went out of my way to invite a billion people, and when I finally FOUND a replacement, the other party members decided to go after like 30 min.

Sometimes - shit happens. If this game was easy - or always fair, it wouldn't be fun.

/em moons the crybabies

<--Is sorry about leaving you the token in my absence.

Although it was nice not to be leader for a change.

I don't mind being leader, actually, my parties tend to do well, and last for a bit longer than usual when I'm leader, and in charge

Sometimes - shit happens

That reminded of Bad Santa, when the kid(Thurman Merman  ) got a shirt that said: "Shit happens when you party naked."

I was in a party yesterday in Garlaige Citadel and a party member left immediately after leveling with no notice that he was going to...Just said "well I'm 35 now...going to Crawler's nest" and left. I had earlier given notice that I would have to leave in about 45 minutes. When this other player left the whm said he needed to leave too but the leader was only a fight or two from leveling and talked the whm into staying. Leader invites dark (knowing the party is pretty much over with as in two fights or so). I would've been pissed had I been the drk. He fought two fights then whm left...no other whm lfg....party disbands. The party I was in friday night was sooo different. We got together around 11:30 or so my time and stayed together until a little after 3am. In fact everyone stayed a little longer to help one member level. I realize it's just not possible to do that all the time...or even most of the time...and it sucks when you're so close to leveling and the party breaks up...but please don't invite me if you know it's going to end in one fight. I may end up missing out on a great invite by taking yours.

... is asking the other PT members how long they plan to stick around so hard?

When you do that while looking for a replacement they will often say they have to go right then. Otherwise they say a few hours and risk getting stuck waiting for hours for the (inept?) leader to find a replacement. I made that mistake once before of saying I could stay a couple more hours while they were looking for a replacmenet, and after 30 mins of no replacement I wanted to go, but they whined that I had said I had said 2 hours left. Whereas if they hadn't asked I could easily say I needed to go after the 30 mins of no luck finding a replacement and avoid a great deal of drama.

Best way to avoid this is to set a time limit when you are first forming a party. Such as stating you are going for 3 hours and then at that point check how everyone is feeling. If you have to grab a replacement early, you can also give them an approximation as to how much longer the party will last.

The other side of this though is that if the party isn't a good one...be it setup of just the players themselves...I'll sometimes look for an early out.

everyone shoots for the party that is waiting for them to log on... and lasts as long as they want to be in that area.

no one plans on a party lasting 10 minutes then disbanding. it just happens. take the good with the bad.

if every party were perfect then you wouldn't respect the good ones so much.

I second that.

Also, instead of asking all the party members if they will stay for x amount of time, why not just say to the person you plan to invite that you may only need them for a little while? At least they know what they are getting themselves into. I have been honest with people in this way, and had them join still. They tend to be light hearted people that like to help out and have a good time. Of course the assholes would never accept a 15 minute party...It doesn't help them out at all.

It is what it is. Deal.

I dont see how you guys are justifying this bullshit... all I know is I dont wanna be fucking dragged into a party that is gonna use me for 30 mins just to get Warp II's when I had another PT asking me to join at the same time (and I told the leader this).

There is no justification, the PT knew they were only going to be playing for another 30 mins yet they didn't tell me... fuck that.

Ummmm - we aren't justifying asking people to party when you KNOW the party is disbanding soon - please actually read our posts. In mine I stated that there are times when you are the leader - and your party surprises you. YOU CANNOT BE PERSECUTED FOR DECISIONS OTHERS MAKE> I always ask people if they need to leave soon, so when they actually say "Ok - i am going to go now" and 3 others follow - then YES it is a surprise to me, and I don't feel like it would be MY FAULT if someone had just joined.

decidence, what theyre sayin is that sometimes the unknowns come up, RL issues, dc'ing whatever, its not like they want to invite your for 30 mins and disband to piss you off.

Sometimes the cookie crumbles before you can eat it all and sinks in the milk =P

^^ ok but what I was mad about was being invited to a PT that knew full well they would be disbanding in 30 mins and not only did not inform me about this but still insisted on me coming to PT with them even after I said I had another invite.

Maybe I should of wrote this instead of what I wrote in my initial post.

i think in your specific example they did decieve you decidence. what i was talking about in my post was a more general standing of "shit happens".

the bottom line is it is hard to get a party and people aren't going to tell the truth always because if they do they wont get the party full.

example:
a party has a few people within 1k of a lvl and their tank leaves. they all know that when they get there lvl they are all leaving for the night. when they are inviting a tank there is now way they are going to tell said tank that its a 10 minute party then they are done. if they do that they wont get a tank. so they tell a fib, get their lvl, and disband. and the tank is left sayin "wtf". i'm sure most of us have been in a party where they did this to someone else (either by inaction or action). its just one of those things that happen.

p.s. and in the above i DID NOT mean that you personally have lied to a player to get them to join your party so i dont want to hear anyone whining about "I never lie to get someone to join my party, i'm perfect". if i beleive that then i'd also have to beleive that no one buys gill online.
