This is a Flame/Request.

Okay, have you ever /waved towards someone and all they do is just a generic /wave so it says "XXXX waves."? Why can't you just wave at them? It's only gonna take, what, 3 seconds of your time. It seems so damn disrespectful. Like you don't even give a fuck about the person. This personally doesn't ever happen to me but I see it happen so much. It aint right....IT JUST AINT RIGHT!

So this is a formal request to whomever does this:
Be a pal, /wave directly :)

I think that most players don't know that you can type "/wave name" to wave to someone without targeting them. Thus, they think they have to find and target you to wave at you.

I've done this a lot, but it's not that I'm being disrespectful, or that I don't care about them. Sometimes I misspell their name, or their name is really long or complicated. I usually /wave directly to them, but if I can't, I at least try to /wave. I've had people do it to me, it doesn't matter. It's more important that they thought enough of me to /wave back than to wave with my name in the emote.

I only do a generic /wave back when I can't load your damn character sprite....like in Jeuno :x

Westyle is a smooth criminal!
/panic
/panic
/shocked

I really don't care. If I got an invite to a party, and I arrive at the camp, I just do a /wave so I wave to everyone at once.

Personally..I don't think it's that much of a deal :P I'm not goina flip out if someone doesn't wave directly.

Well people wave to me a lot which is cool and all but I'm usually either in my mog house or in the process of actually doing something. When I'm, for instance, buying something at the AH, it has my attention. If I think about it absentmindedly, who the hell knows what I'll end up buying accidentally. If I'm just doing a generic wave that means simply, not trying to be disrespectful of the wave given to me, but I'm not able to give 100% attention.

Two words... Jeuno Lag

Bingo. If I'm anywhere else I'll make an effort to find you, but if it's Jeuno you're shit out of luck. Generic all the way.

It's funny because, if I am running somewhere and get a /wave, I usually stop dead in my tracks and TRY to wave back. Sometimes I feel like an asshole standing there trying to find the person, to wave directly. I mean for all I know, you could have passed me and be completely out of my target range. I get paranoid and start thinking that the person was invis'd and is just messing with my head.

At the AH, I have been guilty several times of /waving to the Auction Counter.

Same here, Im sure thats most peoples explanation as well.
Although I will attempt at adding the persons name manually in my /emote back to them if Im not already pre-occupied in the usual 2 or 3 convos I seem to always have going.......................

I usually stop dead too. But by the time I see someone they usually run just out-of-sight as I target them. =\

Even if you can't load someone's sprite, /ta <name> still works, or yeah so straight to /wave <name>.

Or you can do this, witch kind of works.

/Target Falseprophet
/Wave <t>.

Or

/Emote waves to Falseprophet.

Helps with jeuno lag,

^^;
