Yeah, for 75 levels no one is going to look at his sub or his equipment. He'll get to 70 before the best-equipped meleer. I'd rather see him level monk as his sub...it's more impressive than rdm or whm.

Anyway, I think im going to try DRK/MNK using h2h weapons and see how far I can get before I hit the level that I stop getting invites.

I played DRK/PLD for fun while I was out of parties and I even got several invites to go to the jungle. This was also while I was running around in Jugner Forest. How a DRK/PLD that isnt seeking and is sitting in Jugner can get an invite for all the way out in the jungle is beyond me.

About the level where half-capped hand to hand won't cut it... so.. level 10?

first of all if a blm is doing his job and the tank is too the BLM shoulnt pull hate anyways. sorry but blm/mnk is not good for exping no matter how much you try to defend it. If you are pulling that much hate yu feel you need a counter either A you are over nuking or B your tank can't hold hate

When you join an exp party you owe it to the 5 other players to be at your best and most useful because you effect thier exp not just yoursi suggest going back leveling WHM and than come back and farm for better gear

My advice for starting players has always been the same. Once you hit 18, LEVEL YOUR SUB. Even if it's a slow job to level like WHM, you can knock down EP non-stop til at least 12 to 15, which is all you need to take to 30. The recent patch tweaking EP experience rewards made this even easier, and you'll make enough in crystals alone to cover most of your equipment to 30 in any job.

Not all players have been happy to hear this. They don't want to spend ONE WHOLE DAY puttering around on a subjob. Well, that's too bad. This game is a timesink, no getting around that. If you don't like the fact that you can't take a single job to 75 without having to worry about (sometimes multiple) subs, farming, quests, etc. then this is NOT the game for you.

Oh, and one last thing- the "I'm only levelling this to 30 so I can unlock my REAL job" thing doesn't fly with me either. 90% of the time, when someone has said that to me, they're playing an entirely different job in two weeks. So level other jobs, even if you think it's not your "dream job"- odds are you'll enjoy playing the other jobs almost as much, if not more.

Actually I did the exct same thing when I first started out. I started on white mage just to get to 30 so I could get advanced jobs. At the time, I really wanted to be a ranger, hence my racial choice, but I went broke and went back to white mage pretty fast. That never stopped me from leveling black mage up for use as a viable subjob though.

Drk/whm is a pretty legitimate combination in some parties, especially at those kazham levels. Drk has practically no use for the MP it has at that point, and the benefits of /war and /thf are kind of non-existent at that point too.

The subjob thing I'll give ya, because the pt and pt leader can see that. But you can't see what someone is wearing before they get to the camp.

I remember I leveled rdm when I first bought the game and I was just testing out different subjobs. I used rng sub when I soloed cause I liked wide scan =P. When I left and came back many months later I start whm/blm. Now my whm atm is 59 as throughout my past levels sometimes my blm sub got a little gimped from being undercapped. I don't like leveling blm but I never let my sub gimp over 3 levels at least =P.

I'm leveling smn now for a new sub (and I want my carby mitts ). I'd rather have auto refresh and a crap load extra mp over warp, tractor, and other blm crap any day.

a bit off topic but....no matter what weapon your using, or lack there of, you can counter if you have it drawn (or in that cool "im standing a different way for no apparant reason other than im just using my bare hands" stance)

when im on mnk and very very bored i pull out my warp crudgle and start killing stuff to skill up, and i counter with it

Yeah, i logged on and went drk/mnk and immediately changed my mind when i saw that h2h was capped at half the number of my uncapped scythe...

Alright to clear things up, i started 7 days ago....i started as a black mage and im like hey "this is pretty fun, blm is pretty powerful." So then i get to lvl 18 i did the subjob quest and was like, hmm i need more mp, maybe ill go lvl a whm. So on the run back to windurst i thought it would be cool to be a monk/war. so i got to windurst and changed to lvl 1 monk lvl 1 war. Then i lvled the monk to lvl 10. And i thought to myself, im going to go drg/sam do doubts, that is what i want. So i changed back to blm seeing as its my highest lvl there for i will get to 30 the quickest so i can get drg. But then i think to myself "hey nobody will want to group with a 18 blm/ 1 whm so i changed my sub to my second highest lvl, monk, hey atleast this way ill get some hp and not die. My equipment sucks because ive been doing nothing but lvling so i have no money at all to buy new equipment and i dont know what i can farm as a lvl 27 mage. So just bear with me ppl until i hit lvl 30, then go drgn. I wont be gimp then, i promise....im not new to the mmorpg ive been playing eq for 2 years.......so im not that bad ppl, just wait 3 lvls!!
