Last night my friend met Edgy in a PT and gave him a linkpearl (SpiritzUnleashed). He scammed a couple of people by saying he would give them discounted items. My friend Stormboy gave him 500k for an Emperor's Hairpin and my other friend Badger gave him 15k for a sword (not sure of the sword).

So beware <_< >_>
Don't let him steal from you.

Maybe Edgy never gave him the item... one of the oldest tricks in the book in that case...

Person 1 offers unbelievable "too good to be true" deal
Person 2 immedately hands over the money in excitement
Person 1 doesn't fullfill his end of the bargain

oldest trick in the scam book.

Yeah.. I thought it was safe to assume people would understand that my two friends didnt get the items.

Im just letting you all know, and personally I wouldnt give my gil away like that, but other people would.

; ; :evil: I hate when ppl scam others like that. Pisses me off. Ill /slap edgy anytime I see him now. Only Person I would ever scam is Amidamaru but he deserves it ^^;

Um... how did they get scammed like this? The whole method of trading in the game is to prevent people from stealing money/items from others. Unless they sent it through the delivery box or something, which I think is foolish for someone you've just met.

And then your shell spent the next 3 hours shouting in Jeuno about this player. I guarantee you more people blacklisted you than him, to the opposite of your request.

The world itself isn't perfect, and you're dealing with a less-than-ghandi subselection of it in this game. Grow some sense, and disburse it to your shell. It sucks and all, but scamming is a terms of service violation that can easily be dealt with via a GM. That's one violation that they do take half-way seriously, because it busts trust, and the game runs on trust. But you instead decided to shout in Jeuno about it.

That certainly solved nothing.

Geez... all I'm saying is beware, don't need to get all defensive... Sorry for making people aware of what this guy did.

This is untrue. Once in my early days of thinking the JP were all honorable and whatnot I did something of the sort. No E.bows were up I /shout asking for a seller got a JP reply from a name I don't recall telling me 3.5mil (yup, back in the day it was 3.5mil) {mog house}....So I handed him 3.5mil and being the trusty guy I use to be waited 5 more hours to get nothing but a big feeling of "goddamn Drew (not drewtaru but myself in RL) why did you do this you fucking moron." I worked my ass off for that and I was so excited I was willing to do anything and I got scammed. It was in fact my own fault but I called a GM. Told them my story and what did I get? This I remember.... "I'm terribly sorry but you did trade him the money therfore nothing can/will be done." "Legally nothing he did was wrong though moraly it's a different story." "Is there anything else I may assist you with today?" "Happy hunting and next time be more careful please!" So yea...they dont really care. It sucks but it was my own fault just like these folks that was scammed.

As for being sorry to warn others man don't be...Some people around here are just...ugh. /smackheadonwallfordaysonend

Call GM.Trust me if u know what to say GM is gonna listen to u and get u ur money back also items. In some cases the scammers can get into real big trouble.

They said they called a GM and the GM said they can't do anything about it.

Not to piss off Vang, but look at his case, [GM]'s do pretty close to jack-fucking-shit. Hell.... I would go so far asd to say, the [GM]'s don't do shit unless you are JP...

Hate to play devils advocate but in these kinds of cases the GM really can't do anything, unless the GM was there to see it all. If the GMs gave everyone who reported a scam the item or the gil they were scammed out of people would file illegitamate scam reports and get free gil and/or items.

Then what are GMs there for?

To let the JP community give us as much grief as possible without return grief.

Reminds me of the Scene in Ghostbusters when Venkman is talking to Dana after she's possessed:

Dana: "Are you the Keymaster?"
Venkman: "No..."
[door slams in the face od Dr. Venkman.]

[GM]Bignutz>> Hello, and Good evening. Are you Japanese?
>> Bignutz : Um.. No.
[GM]Bugnutz>> we will look into it, have a nice day.
>> Bignutz : I haven't even told you what my problem is.
