Is it just me or is this one of the worst fucking shows on tv right now for children? Not just that, but I cannot fathom actually sitting with a child watching this.

I used to hate Spongebob with a passion for similar reasons, but it seems the writers took note of the fact that their intended audience had grown to include teenagers and added a little more wit to the plotlines.

Back to Dora....
There is nothing really educational about this show at all. It is just creating a wave a children that will think it is appropriate to yell at inanimate objects like those crazy bums you see on the streets covered in their own urine (an erie similarity). And what is the deal? Is she mexican or something, last I checked I didn't want to totally fuck my kid in the dome with 2 different languages going at once when they are first learning english.

It pisses me off to wake up because of this shit, I was having a nice nap, then this shoutfest turns on. Another thing I noticed is that Dora does not actually talk, she yells. Every fucking thing, is just yelling.

And the little songs..... CRAP utter CRAP! Fraggle Rock was retarded when I was a kid, but it was better than this shit. The quality of children's TV programs has fallen. I just want my ambiguously gay childrens programs back on the air. Something that I can fall asleep to and not be woken up by.

And another thing, WTF is up with that backpack, that shit is so annoying!

most TV sucks.

Not GIGANTOR!!!!!!!

I can't agree ... after six month of teletubbies, you welcome dora like the messiah !!! ;)

Nothing compares to Sesame Street. Simple as that - they can try but to say they fall short is an understatement.

Kermit the Frog with the Muppet News is always a good way to start your mornings.

I Love Spongebob!!!!!!!!!

I love Dora the Explorer. My 5 year old knows so much Spanish because of this show it's awesome. (I know nothing of it other than counting from one to ten myself, which I learned at a very young age from a Spanish uncle) My 3 year old counted to 10 in Spanish the other day because of this show and I can only see it helping, not hurting them.

The experts agree that exposing young children to different languages while they're younger is hardly confusing to them, they're at the perfect age to learn multiple languages. Knowledge is power, I for one am happy to see my children exposed to different languages and cultures!

But then again, I love The Wiggles too ^^...

Even Sesame Street has slacked in quality from when I was a kid. Have you watched it lately? The last 20 minutes of each hour are "Elmo's World" . . . I have to leave the room when that shit is on. Even my daughter gets bored with Elmo after the first 5 minutes. Muppet news? No more, my friend, no more. There are a few decent shows out there, but they're few and far between. I like Between the Lions, that's a pretty fun show. That's all I can think of off the top of my head that doesn't make me cringe.

I agree with Zodiaque 100% Dora rules.

Children have the ability to learn alot more than we do as adults. I laughed so hard when my son brought me something the other day and said "Abre daddy, abre!"

Spongebob? Are you kidding me?

Education > Classless humor

And I really dont mind the Wiggles actually, my son loooooooved thier concert a few months ago.

I don't mind the education value, but they mess some crap up (isn't Mui Bient[sp?] "very good", not "great"? *shrug)

The thing that gets me is the bullcrap self-satisfaction they shove to your kids.
"Which one of these should we use to keep out of the rain?"
a. Red shoe
b. Umbrella
c. Baseball
d. Blue shoe

Then they throw out that your kid chose the right one, even if /she's a little slow and thinks the red shoe deflects blue rain, and gets 2-10 minutes of "You're great! We did it! Yay!"

Only good thing to come out of that show is Swiper and the big red cock......er..chicken.

In some ways I'd agree. Most kids shows these days are really, really sh*tty. Like... there's this one like 5-minute long show that plays in-between shows that don't go to the whole 25-30 minutes on one of my favourite stations... It's called Nanalan or something. It's the stupidest crap in the world. When I ever have kids, I'd rather have them watching Simpsons or Futurama or Family Guy or something, because atleast they use English words. I'm not saying it'd be bad for a kid to learn another language, but some of these shows don't even use a freaking language. Teletubbies, all they talk in are garbles... how's a kid supposed to learn off of crap like that?

More on the opinion of Dora... I don't think she's a bad influence or anything, but I do agree with her being unbelievably annoying. Never actually watched anything involving that, but I've seen commercials. You're right about her shouting everything. And it's called "Dora the Explorer" and yet, as far as I know, she never explores. All I've seen her do is teach kids to talk Spanish.

That's just my two bits, though.

Wtf?

Dora rocks!

My son knows more spanish than I ever will because of that show. And no, the show does not cause my son to yell everything just because Dora or Boots says to "Say backpack! Say Backpack!"

If you have a problem with Dora, it's because you should not be watching it, you are too old for it.... duh?

BTW Spongebob is not classess humor, it's creative and often witty humor for children. What do you want me to show my son, MTV? Spongebob is probably one of the funniest children shows on TV right now. And while I agree that on the large scale, education is greater than humor, I'll be damned if I'm going to force my son to watch educational shows ALL DAY LONG!

I hate kid shows... period...

Spongebob can die
Tallietubbies can burn
Dora can turn into a whore and get shot by the FBI
Blues Clues house can be bombed since Osama bin laden has been chillin there
Nickolodeon can now be bombed

I watched Ren & Stimpy when I was little, I think it's fine if kids watch Spongebob now. *shrug*

Might be crappy humor to one person, might be a laugh riot to another. You can teach alot of things but you can't really teach humor.

it's funny you say this because TV education isn't much of that in the form of a cartoon. Atleast when they try teaching you about the "real world" and how "working harder will make you stand out and get you ahead in life!" which is complete bullshit. No one who is rich truly works hard compared to those of the classes below them. 50% of the wealth in this country is inherited. Anyways.. want your kids to learn? Teach them and encourage them to read :| TV just sucks, plain and simple.. especially all our shitty cartoons like spongebob and dora the explorer and those other stupid ass cartoons rotting a child's mind.
