I sure as hell hope they're the new face of metal ... 4/5 "Metal" bands are just plain crap.
 
Arch Enemy has some nice metal, Opeth (duh), Metallica is old school metal,
Megadeath for the Thrash, Mudvayne, Slayer, Manntis, Godsmack and Avenged Sevenfold are the only bands i can think off the top of my head

Perhaps I listen to music that's to musicly advanced than your average Metal band.. I like them because they're very talented.. I find that strict distortion + Screaming combo get's too old and repeatative after a while =/ ..
