In Flames is amazing..one of my favs.

I like all they have done, but I'm a bigger fan of their stuff pre-R2R

The main problem I have with Cradle of Filth is Dani Filth. I just can't get into a band when they have someone like that in there.

In Flames signed with Ferret Records within the last few days, which makes me happy. In Flames is sweet, and Ferret is my favourite record label. So win-win.

The only power-metal I listen to is stuff my friends have and lend me. I saw Stratovarious the other week. INSANE. They played with Into Eternity, which are a more Black Metal band. Which were also insane. But I'm more into Hardcore then Metal.

What's wrong with Dani Filth? Just not like his voice?

Stratovarius are pretty cool - but I prefer Evergrey and stuff like Winds or Circle to Circle personally. Symphorce as well, but theyre iffy.

Into Eternity are not black metal. Go buy Emperor's 'Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk', and 'Into the Nightsid Eclipse' tomorrow. That is black metal. Into eternity are more along the lines of shadows fall etc.

And merc the good black metal doesn't sound entirely like crap XD

pretty much ALL grind does, though that shit is DELICIOUSLY loud!

Nasum and Rotten Sound FTW SON!

Rotten Sound > Nasum

That's an Oxymoron .. Zao = Christian band >_>

Looks like PoD has left it's stain (Not mark -_-) on heavier bands..

all i've got to say to that is check out Norma Jean and The Chariot. Both Christian bands and both use enough distortion to collapse your skull

I meant Into Eternity were more along the lines of black metal at that show. I hate all these classifications. And I don't like Dani Filth for many reasons.

Anyways, I'm off to bed. Look for me online tommorow, and send some metal bands through /tells. I need more music...>.<

We could spit out bands all day.. again the problem is finding good ones.. Probably half a day more and eveyr good metal band out there wil be listed XD

Well said.

I wont even go on one of my old metal historian rants like I used to lol,
but to keep it short, metal had its best from around 1982-1992.

As for downloading, get a news leecher and go to alt.binaries.music.heavy-metal

why is there no God Forbid or From Autumn to Ashes on this list? this list is way to small........

I hate From Autumn To Ashes' drummer/singer. He's so annoying. The rest of the band isn't too bad.

If you want a band to make you laugh lyrically, and probably has the most stereotypical hardcore music, listen to Throwdown or Too Pure To Die.

That's just bein closed minded

Don't get me wrong, I love 80's metal as much as the next guy. Hell, I saw Metallica in concert a couple of years ago. Try some newer bands.. Since you like 80's metal, try Shadows Fall.. If you can get passed a little screaming, you'll love em probably.

Btw, Iced Earth and Iron Maiden are basicly the same band with a different name.. Such is the curse of the majority of good metal bands in the 80's (And yes, I have 3 Iced Earth CD's and I forgot how many Iron Maiden's)

Some of my favorite hardcore bands are Christian, and I'm not a Christian. For example: The Chariot, Norma Jean, and Training for Utopia. And, if anyone wants some damn fine hardcore, Converge, The Power & The Glory, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Pig Destroyer, The Hope Conspiracy, and Coalesce are the way to go.

If your tastes are more extreme, try some Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Masonna, Atomsmasher (or any James Plotkin, really), Nasum, and Discordance Axis.

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned Dream Theater or Liquid Tension Experiment.

They own your mom. Hands down.

lol you guys are naming off bands i already downloaded

Most likely because there is only a few that are worth listening to lol

Open your ears and look further than America and the mainstream and the supposed "breakthrough" bands comming up the ranks of the shithole now. There are way more than a few but you're not looking much further from the norm of the mainstream.

Pig Destroyer = Grind.... Wonko, brain fart?
