I hate quibbling over genres. As far as I'm concerned, good tunes are good tunes. Pig Destroyer has always been lumped into a similar category with those bands in my mind, and that's how they came out.

Mainstream is what I avoid(Between the buried and me are starting to hit mainstream, but when I started listening to them, they were still underground).. It's all shitty stuff

I take it you're not even into metal, rock, etc. Also, don't avoid my comment of leaving America to find good music. If you say it all sucks either A) you're ignorant to the genre or B) you dislike the genre. There are thousands of good bands and many more comming up everyday it's just if you take music serious enough to seek it out and find what you're looking for.

Also, pop out of the new mainstream Darkest Hour, BTBAM, Black Dahlia Murder, Red Chord, all that mall rock shit. I do like Darkest Hour though...guilty pleasure. I'm talking the real hard to find stuff. Stuff you only know exist because you follow a certain distro etc.
 
I take music too serious perhaps.. And to your leaving America Comment.. If you had read the previous pages, you would have read about how I like Dimmu Borgir (Norwegian).. I also listen to Miyavi, Rammstein (A little, can get repeatative).. Granted I have very few heavy metal bands I listen too, I only listen to bands whom I see something different and unique.

But you're 100% right.. I'm not even into metal.. My playlist isn't filled with bands that use what some would call excessive distortion. I don't have a guitar, or a distortion pedal.. I'm just a poser wasting my time in this thread because I have nothing better to do with my pathetic life ... </sarcasm>


And really hard to find stuff? I dont' listen to bands because they are hard to find.. I listen to them because they are good.. Granted they are saved the poison of mainstream, but that doesnt' make them good =p
