Is this remake as in FF3 style, or just ports?? I'm assuming full remakes? >.>

Full 3D remakes, like it says in the article, and topic states remakes, not ports you dolt :P

DQ IV is my favorite all time game. I really wish I would use a handheld gaming device.

This is exactly the thing to give the DS that much needed boost to it's sales.

Dragon Quest IV is one of my all-time favorite games, but...just...god, Akira Toriyama's artwork is just so tired. =/

Could be interesting, to say the least. The only DQ games I've played were the first NES Dragon Warrior and Dragon Quest Monsters on the Game Boy Color, so I wouldn't mind branching out.

Dragon Quest IV was so awesome to me simply because of how they told the story. The game is split into 5 chapters. Each chapter you play different characters through some story line. You don't play the "main" character until Chapter 5. At which point you go about collecting the other characters from the previous chapters, explore, save some villages, rock the casinos, and destroy the ultimate evil. For an NES game it was revolutionary (to me at least).

More good DS RPG's are always a plus. I'm starting to get kind of tired with my DS, to be honest. There's some great games for it, but there's also a fuckton of kiddie trash games. It's at the point where when I want a good game for it, I go back and pick out a NES game ported to the GBA.

This is exactly the thing to give the DS that much needed boost to it's sales.

As it breaks the records for every gaming system ever, the DS needs no more sales boosts. lol Exceeding expectations like.... 40%-50% more? lol If they wanted to push sales, they should have put these on PSP. But of course, they would suck then. ^_^

... but...just...god, Akira Toriyama's artwork is just so tired. =/
Blasphemy!

Blasphemy!

Not saying his art is bad per se, but...really, everything he does looks exactly the same as previous work. If you play through DQ8 there's maybe two or three characters that're over 20% original. The game felt more like "Dragon Ball RPG" than Dragon Quest at all. =/

Yeah, I know he did the art for the original Dragon Quest games, but at least pre-DQ5 they didn't consist of the bug-eyed big-stupid-grin baddies that Akira Toriyama makes just about everything nowadays.

lol that's the charm of Toriyama-sensei's artwork. ^^ People buy other's works to see not really their originality, but things that scream "this is artwork from BIRD Studio."
Then again,. I do know what you mean. Toriyama-sensei is getting up there in age, so he sketches and his employees at BIRD Studio take that, draw it, and submit. So everything isn't 100% Toriyama's, I guess.
Still, it's pretty cool. Has everyone checked out Lost Odyssey yet? The artwork for it, though this is conceptual artwork and the main character design of the game, is done by the guy who does SLAM DUNK. (Popular Shonen Jump series which will be released over in the states next Spring. Again lol)
