DS Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies ~ NA Summer 2010

Dragon Quest IV, Dragon Quest V and Pokemon Platinum will keep me busy a long time. I'm just glad they caught it before it hit store shelves. That would suck.

Bump. Release is in a few days, the devs have revealed their characters (Which have customizable armour sets), there will be only 1 save file, and it'll be the hardest DQ to date. Fun.

Got me excited for nothing Gerry... The jp release is in a few days - .-

I guess I should've put that in. Well, we probably won't have to wait long for it be released in English now.

Bumping for two thing:

1) Nearly 4 million sales in Japan already. Not much of a surprise really, though it's nice to see it's been a success (as per usual with Dragon Quest).

2) Rumoured release date of 2010 (Not sure when exactly as it's a rumour.) in the UK, so the US will be around the same time.

Also, apparently, Wada got in 30 hours of DQIX in four days of the game's release. Wow. I think my opinion of him just went up greatly for this.

Some advertising has surfaced from Japanese TV:

Anyone else notice this ads are similar to the Wii and DS advertisements made by Nintendo?

I think Nintendo has now made a positive influence on commercials for games.

I don't import games in a language I don't understand so I'll just wait for the NA release, not like I don't have other games to play lol.
That and Japan makes it easy for wireless communications to unlock some of the extras, which can screw importers who want to unlock everything. Too bad it wasn't wi-fi, hopefully they adjust the Inn and the characters who give additional outfits/costumes based on characters from past DQ's for the NA release, as I have nobody around here who I could play DQIX with to unlock them ;;

Square-Enix has trademarked "Sentinels of the Starry Skies" in Europe, pretty much confirms it releasing outside of Japan as the Japanese subtitle is "Defenders of the Starry Sky"

Wonder if NA will also use the same subtitle as the trademarked EU one.

Next year will be DQIX (hopefully), DQVI (hopefully), FFXIII and FFXIV, gonna be a wild ride.

I figure it'd be an important time to have the overture play them ;)

I'll be keeping my eyes out for Pre-orders and I will absolutely make sure that everyone I know, including my Aunt and Cousin, get this game!

DQIX is officially the best selling game in the series, reaching the 4.15 million mark

It beat DQVII which was 4.14 million, and it hasn't even released in North America yet.
Now to just wait for here to release outside of Japan, that and DQVI.

Yes summer for NA, no idea when EU will be getting it though.
And I'd figured they would release DQVI first here to complete the Zenithia trilogy, it seems odd releasing DQIX first, which is a wholly new title first compared to a remake, when DQIX is obviously going to sell more, and NoA is publishing it, not SE.

New logo for the NA release (EU likely will remove the IX when it comes out there)

Grats EU!
Now FFXIII in March, and DQIX this summer, wonder when we'll get DQVI and FFXIV.

Yes, just got home from work and read this on my gaming news sites.
Looking forward to it and also fighting the past bosses from previous DQ's and getting cameo costumes from previous characters.

EU Box-art (likely NA too):

So they are actually putting the number of the games back in, I sure hope SE consider doing remakes of DQ I, II, III and VII to fill in the gaps here seeing as they started with VIII.
