Not really, since it's Capcom. Will probably have day one, on disc DLC. On disc character DLC, the ending will most likely be DLC, and you know, all that DLC stuff in between.

They're EA now? :O or Activision? I don't really pay attentio to most Capcom games, what other games were like that with DLC?

Heh, until the newest Tiger Woods EA wasn't even close to being as poor about it, if we leave the online pass out of it. Activision isn't even in the running, they just make terrible games. Anyway, Capcom games with terrible DLC involved, this of course saying not all of it is terrible, which it very well is, anyway; Resident Evil 5 has on disc DLC multiplayer modes, SFxTekken has 12 characters locked on the disc as well as costumes and tons of skin/costume colors, Asura's Wrath has like 5 chapters worth of DLC and the "true ending" is coming up as DLC (cake taker), all of the SFIV (And every iteration) DLC costumes are on the discs, and both versions of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 have on disc costumes and characters locked. I'm forgetting some things, but that's enough really :/

Oh, they also let Slant Six go ahead and release RE: ORC without the other half of the campaign and are now, in the wake of the SFxTekken character DLC and Asura's Wrath debacle saying, "We're releasing the Spec Ops campaign as free DLC! See, we're not evil!" trying to cover their ass with candy from a game that's far from even decent.

Unfortunately they still make great, challenging games, mostly, which is more than most anyone else can say for themselves anymore. So I have Capcom on a per game basis. If the game is finished when it releases, Dragon's Dogma that is, I'll probably buy it. That said, I'm not counting on that so right now I have no hope for it.

Huh, well that'd explain why I haven't really paid attention to Capcom's DLC stuff :P I don't play any of those games. I was tempted to get RE5 but I heard it was "eh" and didn't bother. And never been into fighting games really.

Well, I do hope Dragon's Dogma has no bs dlc crap. I believe it has the director or something of DMC working on it. Maybe his influence can keep it from happening?

I dunno, anyone at Capcom with balls or a spine has taken their leave. But hey, here's to hoping with ya :D

There is actually a demo up on PSN and XBox Live. It's pretty meh.

I played it. It's really hard to judge an RPG from that little amount of time they give you :\ it's like 10 minutes of content lol. Oh well.

You make a good point, but what I was after was seeing if, since it's a Capcom game, the combat would like that in a game of skill, in some fashion. Neither scenario really tested my ability, at all, so I'm kind of on edge about that. Still, it seems like it has potential to be fun. Going to be holding off on buying it until I can see more challenging aspects shown or until Capcom shows how they intend to ruin it with 100 DLC quests for $5 a piece.

Ya I'm not really set ye, might wait until it's cheaper or to try more at a friend's if they get it or rent or something, I dunno.

I'm waiting for the price drop too and possibly a terrible, but still better than console, PC port. I'd urge anyone buying this though, stay away from the 360 version. I've sat down with both versions of the game and there is something oddly wrong with this title on the 360. Loading is just awkward, it's like playing an Unreal Engine 3 game except the textures don't pop in, the populace does... it's just really awkward and cheap feeling.

The game is cool though but my plate is full of TERA Online greatness right now so I can't justify the purchase at all. That and the hopes that the Dark Souls PC edition will drop GFWL platform and make me purchase and become addicted to it all over again.

I'm also kinda thinking might be worth waiting until the "complete version" is released. What capcom and DLC and all.

I'll prolly get the PS3 version cause my friend has it for that and would be fun to try and get his pawn :P

And Tera, man, I really enjoyed that game during open beta, but not enough to pay a monthly fee.

Also, I think EpicNameBro did a video on that, said that in a Japanese interview (he lives in Japan and knows Japanese soo ya, teaching English in Japan, but big Dark Souls guy in the communtiy) that the GFWL wasn't confirmed, it was just something they were exploring as an option, but weren't set with. So the outrage wasn't quite needed (though might have helped keep them from going that way). Then again, this interview was about a month or two ago.

As for DS, I really hope that it'll be just a DLC on PSN for it. Ideally free if you bought DS new :P I'd still get the game on the PC, but ya, don't wanna have to pay it for PC and PS3 (just PC is ok though, don't care if I own it on PS3, it deserves that kinda support, just would enjoy seeing early adopters who get some nice treatment for once)

Yeah, EpicNameBro is a cool dude. He's a bit of a From junkie though so you have to watch his GFWL rant stuff. They most definitely are, as of now, using it. Even the box from the press release has it on the top. It makes for a very, very easy port so~ We can only hope. As for the extra content being DLC, I hope it is for everyone who doesn't have a great PC, but for me even if it didn't have extra content, the PC version would still be the one to have. Imagine if you will the entire game with none of the horrid FPS lag and looking, possibly, up to 100% better.

About TERA, yeah, you know what, I feel the exact same way. No way in hell it's worth a sub fee, but you know what, it's just so damn fun, challenging, and the community is hands down amazing, at least on my server. Unfortunately I made it far enough into the beta to be hooked... Once you fight a BAM and do an instance, for me anyway, there was no turning back. I play a Lancer, the tank class, and I've never been so challenged in an MMO in my entire span of playing them. For me that's very important, but I have no reserve expressing my feelings that it's very much not what I expect from a sub. fee game. It's extremely unorganized, and our provider has "westernized" the game with various tweaks that make the story a mess and they tweaked 2 or the 4 end-game dungeons to be level 45 and level 52 and totally through off the story and balance of end-game. For an example of how stupid they are, those two instances were the only two that provided class specific stats on gear, and provided the gear necessary as "pre-endgame armor." So what we have are people hitting level 60, doing the end-game instances being carried by those of us who have taken our lumps to gear up, they are totally not prepared, and the learning curve for the level 60 dungeons, which the other two prepared you for, is extremely skewed now since they were drastically reduced in difficulty to fit lower levels. The items can drop, but the instance system works that so if I enter a dungeon at 60, that's tuned for level 52-55 play, drops are so piss poor you can forget anything good falling, so farming them for pre-end game is just impossible. Just bad decisions, and then the worst of it all, there is a cosmetic item mall... It's just a ton of shit really and I can only hope they get their act together. TERA is an amazing game with tons of Asian subscribers even now, it released in 2009 and has a $35 sub fee for them, it didn't need any of this tweaking at all. I'd bet within a few months this game will be 100% free to play.

I played a Lancer :D was only up to like level 14 or so. I only got to play it for a day I think. I hear the PVP is truly amazing and that the end game politics side is really neat.

And even only up to level 14 or whatever it was very fun. Gameplay is prolly the best for MMOs for now. And I figured it'll be F2P in a few months so I figured wait.

Another MMO I really wanna play is Planetside 2. That MMOFPS sounds really fun. But that's a long ways away.

I didn't enjoy Planetside at all, but then it had a lot of stiff competition in the FPS genre on PC. I still don't see it being very good, now more than ever, given the now low standard for anything FPS. I'll stick to my original F.E.A.R. if I want to bust some noggins. Though the DayZ mod for ARMA II is looking more and more impressive every passing week.

Anyway, good thing you didn't make it far enough in TERA to hit your first BAM quest and instance... I was in the same mind frame as you up until that point but after hitting 19 and gettin' into that stuff I went from your train of thought to "HOLY SHIT!" and the instances just got even better. That said, I'm bored with BAMs by now, after about 40 all they have are reskins that attack faster (save for the introduction of a wyvern type in the 50's), nothing to see at all. It's funny though, the illusion that creates as a lot of bosses are pretty much the BAMs (save for instances in Argon influenced areas have Argon bosses which are rare outside), with a minor skin adjustment or added armor for looks. People go in half cocked like, "huh, just BAM X I got this" and get utterly worked over since that doesn't fly.

I just like the idea of a big massive battlefield that's persistent. I never played the original planetside and I heard like the idea and crazy massive battles was fun, but it sacrificed some FPS elements cause of the tech at the time. I just want a FPS to have massive battles and feel like a good ol' War and if you can organize people to do coordinated assaults it just makes it even more awesome. Even though the netcode was/is REALLY bad, it's what made and still makes me enjoy C&C: Renegade. When you actually get some people to wait in base with their tanks and engineers to follow and you have a coordinated assault on the other's base it's just sooo fun. So I'm kinda hoping for that with Planetside 2. I wish Renegade X would kinda hurry up though. I still don't really even know what's going on with that.

As for Tera, ya I prolly was right before the big hook (they might wanna think about that :P you kinda wanna hook people early when you play MMOs or any game). So I will just wait for free to play if it ever goes that way. I still kinda hope FFXI and WoW go F2P. I know Kaplan already said he sees a future with WoW F2P, but we all know that's WAY down the line. FFXI though, would be kinda fun to have an EQ kinda thing where old players can play for free and such.

OH YA!! And on topic, my friend says Dragon's Dogma is VERY fun. That he's had some great comments on his pawn (which he made to "look like an ogre of an old hag") and that its just fun. And that all the ranged classes feel fun and, even though magic archer is the most popular cause of auto lock on, he feels the ranger longbow is so much more impactful and fun. I'm kinda tempted to go pick it up sometime this week since kinda burning myself out on D3 and the whole lag issues still pissing me off >.> I wonder if Dragon's Dogma will come to PC. I don't really know how much Capcom supports PC.

BF3 Global Conflict. Granted it's a hard community to get in to unless you're really good and, you know, shitty Origin. I'll never buy anything over Origin or that requires it personally. I just stick with BF2 Project Reality.

Getting to 20+ in TERA is really fast actually, hell, I capped in almost two weeks. That said, it would only sell more clients, which is good, but it would be bad in the long run if you consider how shareholders look at things. They're more about steady numbers, and TERA wouldn't/wont keep most of the people who get to the hook. Why? The game's difficulty spikes in the 40's and becomes rather unrelenting. Most MMO players suck, especially on their own (groups can usually carry the majority), and really, this game doesn't have gameplay that molds with the genre, in the 60's (cap) there are very little people about the areas and dungeons despite their being plenty of time now to have been 60. Making it over that hump and progressing is holding people back. Each and every individual has to be on a fairly high level of skill to succeed in this game, especially end-game. Having that skill and the ability to craft up strategy on the spot (each individual needs this because no classes play alike in battle) is a must, it's why I love this game, and it's why a lot of people do nothing but bitch on their forums.

I found it fun though I only spent a good 10-12 hours on it. Played the Strider class, or whatever it's called, and enjoyed the hell out of it. I'm also holding out on a PC port to be honest, that or a price drop since I don't feel any reason to rush out and buy $60 console games with my new PC. That said, Capcom make terrible PC ports, but not because they usually have their own issues, it's more or less that they are exactly the same as on console down to having terrible keyboard and mouse support, making a controller the only good way to play their games. They also neglect the hell out of their titles on PC, save for DLC on their fighting games. I can't recall them ever patching any of them save for the SFIV networking issues, if that, and they've expressed a great lack of care in supporting RE5 PC, despite it being wildly popular, by not providing it with even the DLC consoles got. Most of it's even on the disc btw, it's just wonky to unlock and doesn't function properly.

I kinda wonder how it'd work with mouse and keyboard. I dunno if it'd be quite as engaging/fun or so. But I dunno. I decided to pick it up and have been playing a ton over this weekend :P strider as well. It's just really fun. And I really love how satisfying it is to take on a big bad guy and win. Chimera, Ogres, Dragons, etc. All fun.

Edit: Oh, this is like.. the best unofficial trailer ever :P
