Dragoon History

Kinda sad that DRG get such a rap. I know for a fact they are excellent dmg output, even now. And even against mobs that con even slightly lower than the norm, HNM, NM or what have you, they become enormously amplified in damage dealing. And of course, the hate shedding ability is invaluable in the case you draw an immense chunk of hate. Kinda like how SMN are overlooked as competent DD, but its because no one looks at the alternate purpose of letting an avatar attack, that is, drawing hate and tanking for a brief moment.

If nothing else I've learned a well placed blood pact can save an HNM fight or not, or save a battle, like against Fenrir. I can't count the number of times we were gearing up for the 2 hour and I would then try to force it out with a spinning dive. Sure enough at about 50% HP, the pact would draw aggro to leviathan, I'd see "Fenrir readies Howling Moon.", and I've grown accustomed to the "oh shit! RELEASE!!!" reflex, which completely nullifies the 2 hour move.

A DRG could also pull this off, by pulling hate on him before the 2 hour and then super jumping once he uses it. Bam, no target, no 2 hour. If you think about it, many jobs are considered gimped in one way or another because people do not take the time to learn every intricacy of the job and exploit those nuances to their fullest, like the above examples. Not every job is going for high numbers in damage, and that includes melees. Monks get rapped on because they do damage over time, instead of bulk damage, so they "seem" to be doing less when in fact they're often outdamaging most any other melee just with normal attacks. Dragoon get rapped on because the mainstream levelling path only caters to the same old Distortion mindset... a path of levelling designed for the THF, NIN, RNG, and mage line onry. There's a lot more out there than crabs, and most of these routes are MUCH better. SAM get rapped on cause they don't do major damage, but that isn't the intention of their job. They're complete monsters at TP gain and linking into skillchains. In fact, name one other job that can perform a part in ANY skillchain out there. And I do mean ANY.

So basically, if you are a melee and are not THF or RNG, the popularity contest is against you, because you don't put out 800 dmg sidewinders, or gil toss your way to the top (again, the RNG job in a nutshell), or have an incredibly overpowered WS for use every minute (if you think about it THF dmg output is only mediocre, but again, people look for big numbers, not damage over time.)... even an extremely well equipped THF cannot put out the damage over time factor, but are more a support melee job until that minute timer passes once more. Same goes for DRKs, people seem to not notice the horrible accuracy issues they have, but throwing a powerful guillotine (once more, big numbers) every now and then is enough to set people into the idea that DRK are ultimately powerful. They are, but unless they have top of the line equipment, prepare for a whiff fest.

Hmmm. tyvm for all the info.I just had to asked this b/c since i started playing DRG felt like iwas fighting sterotypes in grps and had no idea what they were.

DRG4Life^^

People are just retarded Dou. I lost faith in them a little while ago.

Drg is fine, and it's a fine class, and so is monk.

Btw neo, I saw the worst macro ever while camping lizzy in one of my lazy bored modes past week. He was a galka war or monk I believe, and a noob (I guess) and he seems to be a DB humper. All his macros were in /s. I didn't take note of what ability they were for, I just heard them lol. I don't remember his name either >.< sorry.

"Grrrrrah, I'm going super sayian 4!"

"Graaaaaaaaah, now you're gonna pay."

I think it was boost and provoke, I dunno... I was on the floor laughing so hard. I mean cool macros are pretty nice, I don't mind them, but retarted ones make my cry and laugh at the same time.... poor retards.

I remember when I first started Dragoon. Everyone kept giving me spiels about how much better Dark Knights were.

You see, Dark Knights get better over the course of the game, but 1-30 *AT least.* Dragoons are MONSTERS! Dragoons get a bad rap for not being big closers end game.

A couple of reasons Dragoons rock early on:

1. Battle Gloves- Dark Knights, Warriors, and Ninja's WISH they got these like Dragoons/Thieves do.

2. Platoon Lance- Rank it up there with Neckchopper. It isn't THAT good, but it will put your dmg and tp gain a notch higher then you might imagine.

3. Hit Harder- For some odd reason I outdmg'd every DRK I partied with 14-30. No matter their equipment. I don't know exactly why, but it was pathetic even without the wyvern.

I've only taken my Dragoon to thirty-six, so I don't know much about how they do post forty. However, a recipe for success is that has always held true for my Thief is to get a Dragoon or Ranger to open for me.

For the record, Monks were targeted for the nerf of Multi-hit WS, Dragoons were just hurt in the process 8)

Right, that reminded me of "that".. XD
The main nerf was because Asuran Fists; if every fist landed, gave like 120TP~

Uh, no. 5-6% TP, you'd only see 40-48% back(again, Penta would give out MUCH more). The problem wasn't Asuran Fists perse, it was Asuran Fists and Relic Knuckles. 14% per punch x 8, 112% TP. Then again, the problem laid in the same with EVERY Relic Weapon. Just not to the same scale. Penta forking out almost the same with the Relic Lance, Dancing Edge, Blade: Ku. Really, any multiple hit weaponskill.

There was no job targeted specifically for the TP nerf. It wasn't "omg cause of mnks" or Dragoons. It was because of SE's oversight of the 999 delay weapons.

Ontop of the 999 delay weapons, you could DUAL WEILD other multiple hit/high delay weapons for even more TP :/

Actually, I originally got the battle gloves for monk. Those were the only gloves I wore until I got kotes, with switching out rse gloves (+4 vit) for chakra in a macro.

+3 accuracy, +3 evasion, and they're CHEAP. These are easily the best low level gloves in the game.
