I've noticed that often when I am in a party I get bashed for being a Dragoon. I understand that at endgame many other jobs may have superior damage and whatnot. I just have trouble understanding why if I do my job, why does my party feel the need to inform me my job is lame? I chose it because I enjoy it... I do good damage, I SC properly, keep my equipment updated, and perform the necessary measures to ensure good exp. I just found it odd how yet, even after witnessing this, Dragoon gets insulted so fiercly. Is it because I'm enjoying my job and trying to have a good sociable time in a party? I was just wondering if someone could explain this, without going into how lame Dragoon is. Obviously, I've heard that story.

Wasn't there someone from here that had pcc and lvled drg for fun and had it when they dinged 33. Still got shat on?

Friend of mine (lvl 40 something drg) had just got an inv and got to camp, set up, ate his food and got buffs .. sat and waited for the puller to go find something. Ranger brings three mobs back, he eats it along with his wyvern, pt drops him for not having his wyvern thanks to the brainless puller

WTF is wrong with people?

Personally i took drg from 1-35 in a week then basicly kinda left it alone and didn't play it for a while. DRG rules, dmg is good, having a wyvern rules, and you get some spiff abilities ... as far as endgame goes, more people should worry about that when they're at endgame instead of knocking it anywhere before it which is the most common approach.

A lvl 30-40 pt bitching at me about my DRG will find they have one less DD in a moment's time and i'll go find a group that'll take me without all the "OMFG YER JOB IS TEH SUXORZ WHY NOT BE A SAM THEY'RE 1337" gimme a break :)

I was in a party a few days ago with a friend of mine, a DRG, and this stupid SAM who kept ragging on him for being DRG. Eventually he asked my friend how he kept consistantly kept doing 100+ dmg per attack. My friend replied simply: Because I'm a DRG. The SAM kept his mouth shut from then on.

20-30 You give me a War/Drg with great gear, and a Drg/War with great gear and the other dd can go home. Rangers, Dark Knights, Samerai, almost all the Thieves just can't match a Warrior or a Dragoon set for dd at that lv range.

It's also a lv range I got the most shit as my Dragoon. Until five minutes into every party. :P

Funny how that works isn't it? I used to get shit for my mnk/sam sub a while back until i ptd with someone for more than a couple fights, then they'd appologize and /befriend me for future invites. Just shows to go ya, people are too easily swayed by what they hear and read.

DRGs rule.

If I'm in a party and someone decides to talk shit about a job 'just because' I give that person a good dressing down.

And it's not just that DRG are good damagers 1-50, they're good damagers 1-75. If you can't pull 4.5k+ xp an hour with a drg in your party it's not the drg's fault just because he/she is a drg.

This game isn't about fucking cannon parties... sure it'd be great if every party you ever joined had at least 3 RNG in it but you know what - that's too damn bad. Also spamming WS gets boring, no coordination.

Mobs can only be pulled and die so fast in certain places...

also for at least 1-30 DRG > DRK imo

The last party I was in I parsed and the DRG did more average damage than both the blm and drk per fight, even including the light skillchain (rarely got sata'd because drk didn't want to do it on the frail drg, so just TA'd onto me, and got resisted a lot). I found that pretty damn funny.

poor Dragoons... They take all kinds of shit for absolutly no reason. It's ben my experience that they kick total ass, you get a Drg/Sam at lvl 60+ and noone can keep up with the amount of WS they do, cept maybe for a Sam/whatever.

The people that say they do shit damage are the people that totally ignore the Dmg from the Wyvern.

The ones that aruge "If they do so much damage why don't they ever pull hate?"
To you, I say this. They do, but when you jump, the mob will lose site of you and attack your wyvern. Then realize that other people are doing much more damage than your wyvern and attack someone else.

If you super jump, it'll just look to someone else alltogether.

Only downside I see is that the Wyvern can be killed easily when fighting Goblins, which I have xp'd off of maybe a total of 6 hours in the 100 days of playtime that I have logged so far.

Trippy Likey Dragoon.

I haven't really partied with many DRGs, and I'm sure they can be a great DD if the player is skilled enough, and equipped with good gear. But it's been in my experience that there aren't many good DRGs out there. For a good long while, whenever I found myself in a party with a DRG, they seemed very... lacking.

Perhaps people say DRGs suck just because they haven't seen any good ones. I myself used to be one of those people, 'till Lanien came along

/cheers Go Go Good Dragoons!

im just gonna say this....

Go see Lanien the drg... he'll show you how much dmg a good drg can do

oh.. maybe one more thing

it's not that the job is overly underpowered.... but a lot of people playing drg pre-lv60 simply didnt have good.. or even adequate gear (at least in my experience).... and it really starts to show at around Lv 50s

having leveled RNG and DRK there arent many usefull SCs i could do with DRG untill lvl 66 with DRK. Up untill that point the only two DRGs i had xp'd with that stood out in my mind were sixthwirlwind and matthew.

At 68 i xp'd with a DRG whose name slips my mind(i actually invited him but shhhhh don't tell anyone) and i was real impressed by his ability to gain tp, usually 20-40 tp higher. his damage did lack per hit and ws, but being able to SATA Spinning Slash him more than made up for it.

It allowed me to not have to worry about Arching Arrow turning the mob, which any ranger knows doesnt really happen, and allowed me to utilize the full power of my weaponskill every time. when super jump was not up, he would merely run behind the pld, get covered and that was that.

It is really too bad that a DRGs major contribution to an xp party is to open light with a fairly weak WS, and give hate back to tank. they got screwed in the party department as far ass weaponskills go in xp parties.

A weaponskill that can consistantly do over 500 damage would help DRGs out from lvl 60 and up.

Drg, it's everything I am in this game and always will be. People can bash it, stomp it, and curse it... But, we will persist to be one of the best DD's.
When you choose drg as a main, you just set the game to youmustdie mode. Druw stick with it, try your hardest to be the best. Do not ever slack off, and you will amaze people with you capabilities. We may not be the best job in the game, but ask yourself, is there a best job? And as for the nuke parties try having 4 drg's, a pld, and a rdm. 35-40 in CN its the bomb! Also, i would like to add a drg can slip into almost any party with ease. There are few exceptions, but, it's all about versatility...

Yeah, this has been beaten to a dead horse. I just wanted to thank Hecate and Eni for dropping my name. Ever since I became a Dragoon, I have gotten shit for it, and called a broken DD. I have strived to be the best, and recently have made some aquisitions that have gone beyond my expectations.

Anyways, I don't even know why I'm rambling. Dragoons are excellent DD, as long as the people take their time to learn the job and get the necessary equipment, and not just fuck around and ruin the reputations of all of us. It is true that their are bad dragoons, but that is the same with every class. People just don't understand the role we can play.

I don't really want to type anymore, as I will just get pissed and say something stupid. Thank you again Eni and Hecate. I appreciate it. Glad to know that working hard to be the best Dragoon I can be hasn't gone unrecognized. Just wish that a Dragoon at his best would get the same recognition as others

Random info.

Did you know the very first NA to level cap on our server was a Mithra named Vampi, his job? DRG.

Hey Lanien, if it makes ya feel better, I just finished the Dragoon mission, and I may try it out(I'm taking a break from Paladin to bring war up to 37)

At the very least, I had a good time soloing the wyvern-guy.

And I called my wyvern George.

In all honesty, Vampi was either played by multiple people, or had no life.

Not to mention he feigned being Japanese, back in the day when partying with Japanese players actually meant something.
