What do we solo? What is not efficient but fun to solo? What is a challenge to solo? Do drg's need elite gear to solo? Can drg's efficiently Solo w/o a mage sub job? Thank you for any responses, even if they are "Do research!" All reply's are welcome.

well we could potentially solo /nin like most other DD jobs I think you will find /mage far more effective at least if you are trying for exp. healing breaths are incredibly mp efficient, if you have any form of refresh or ethereal earring you should never have to rest. /mage.

main weaknesses of drg soloing are that if your wyvern dies you are in trouble, not so bad now that wyverns are a 20 min ability but it still means you want to avoid especially strong aoe moves. Also you want to stay away from much stronger than Toughs especially if they have a strong damage ws as your wyvern can only heal you when you're below 50% hp, we can use iron ram lance and hp gear if we really need to for killing an NM or something but I'd rather not reduce my damage when I want exp. Also depending on your gear you may sometimes find that your wyvern has trouble healing you faster than the mobs damage you but this is rarely much of an issue if you get af2 hat to macro in and some wyvern hp gear

ideal mobs are weak to peircing, even better if they are dragons which is why I like puks.

can't really think of many very fun solo fights, I did maat just for fun a while back angon -> penta thrust > jump > high jump > win.

you really don't need elite gear to solo but it helps. most important things for drg solo I'd say is AF helm > AF2 helm > some form of refresh or ethereal earring > some wyvern hp gear

If you have /blu and a Saurian helm or Wyrm armet, solo Greater Colibri. Watch out for links.

If you want a challenge, cap your wyvern's HP on Greater Colibri first, then try and solo a Wivre. Makes for great fun, trust me. Bring some Tavnazian tacos for these though, and make sure you have cocoon up full time. The only thing that makes them really difficult is when they use Boiling Blood. You pretty much have to ride two trigger spells back to back because of how fast and hard they're hitting. Usually a double attack, and having them both be critical hits means the fight is over.

If you don't have /Blu(which I didn't at first either), and you have maybe /Whm or /Rdm for example try Sea Puks at mamool ja staging point. Still very nice exp, but I find their strong knockback moves and AoEs that can damage your wyvern make them more annoying than Greater Colibri.

My /blu isn't finished yet but I'm guessing the idea is to ride Cocoon/Metallic Body and spam Power Attack for healing? Do the rest of the spells matter or can you really just equip attribute buffs in the other slots?

I recently finished /dnc for War and Pld and was wondering which one was more survivable.

Ride cocoon, I don't bother putting Metallic body in since it doesn't last long and costs too much MP. Primary trigger spell I use is foot kick and since I don't have power attack, so I use sprout smack as the secondary trigger spell which only cost 5 & 6 MP with .5 seconds being the cast time. If you've got Power attack, use it though, it costs one less MP. They're faster and more mp efficient than the trigger spells /whm uses. After those three spells are set, I just put in spells that will buff my attributes. I'll usually set wild oats for pulling; although you could probably just use jumps.

Another tip for /blu that I use when soloing wivres and colibri is to make your cocoon macro a trigger for healing breath as well since by the time you're already finished casting it you'll more than likely be at half HP.

Decent ideas all around. I'd probably be stacking Head Butt/Helldive/Battle Dancer/Whatever throws more Dex. I'll make sure I give it a whirl when I'm 37, though.

use headbutt.... although it cost more mp, the stun can buy you some time if it works( and really it still works!).

2ndly, when u want to heal urself with wyvern, throw in hp gear so that you hp will be in yellow life and the wyvern heal can activate at earlier time. i can activate my healing like 200+ hp earlier than my actual activation rate.

What gear do you swap?

Some great tips in here for DRG soloing! I was a DRG/WHM back in the day when our 2hr was the Wyvern, so I learned to solo early on while looking for pt. It was only recently I discovered the uberness of /blu. Power Attack and Foot Kick for triggers are amazingly effective, and Headbutt for an emergency where you need that second or two to get the healing breath in. The rest are exactly as you were thinking, stat boosts. Personally I use Healing Breeze and Sheep Song for auto-regen (which can mess with your HB if you are not careful), and the rest for MP and a few for STR. I use both my Fey Lance and IR Lance, depending on the situation. Still working on a HB set, but only a couple items short.

If anyone ever wants to DRG Duo or all DRG merit, lemme know and I'm there!
