Ok, so my Dragoon is level 40 now and I've got good gear to back it up, I'm wondering where I would solo for exp, say while LFG or bored at any level now. I have Red Mage sub fully leveled for it, and am also wondering what general strategies might be. As in, do I save my mp solely for activating Healing Breath III, or do debuffs help enough even as subbed RDM?

Thanks in advance :D

that's around the time I started soloing and especially since you don't have access to AF hat yet, and the changes to signet and weaker than even match exp you gain, i'd definately recomend just killing easy prey quickly, rather than difficult longer fights against even match+, as to where exactly to lvl I don't know, anywhere where you can find lots of easy prey. don't bother with debuffs they'll rarely land with /rdm and don't help much, I just use poison or dia to activate breaths with /rdm.

Another semi-related question, could I solo dragons for Giant Scales in Rivern A (or B when I hit 50) as drg/mage, or drg/dnc?

Never did try soloing them for scales as Drg/Mage or /Dnc, but I did fairly well as Nin/Whm and sometimes Nin/War with an evasion/parrying setup.

Either way though, bring a stack of echo drops, hope to God that you can remove paralyze from Dread Shriek fairly soon and that Radiant Breath doesn't one-shot you.

Quick Edit: Forgot to add that this was in the level 50 cap area.

As drg/mage I could get cured of para via breaths right? I'll have to go try it I guess.

Yeah, heh, your wyvern gets remove paralysis right at 40 lol.

ya just have to save tp so you can use ws when it paras you so you can activate the breath. I always just soloed them as nin so couldn't say if drg can do it or not.

General DRG soloing tips:

Fight in ToAU or the past if your nation has an effective Refresh activation %. It's just plain awesome for non-stop xp.

Debuffs off your SJ will be hard to land/wear quickly, save Dia.

It's a LONG way away, but when you reach 73, your next purchase should be a Saurian Helm. The effect on healing breath is only rivaled by the Wyrm Armet, which is way harder to get.

Consider doing what a few other DD jobs like to do: solo pets. Goblins have the most of them and it can easily get you killed, but the benefits are quite nice. The pets have low hp and with your wyvern you should be able to take Ts, if not chain them.

Before I can solo in AU, is there any mp+ items that would benefit me, or should I just stick with my melee and ws equips that I'd party with?

Unfortunately, it's hard to get MP items that low which can take the spot of a slot doing nothing for you melee wise. Some RSE might work, but don't try too hard to get MP. You'll be better off killing faster than having more MP to cure. The key is balance.
