Dragoon Update stuff!

I hope now that the mobs in dynamis wont ALWAYS call their Wyvern... those are annoying time wasters only worth it for Drain/Aspir on them.

So I'm thinking, is this going to make the dragoon Maat fight harder now since Maat will get this amazing new 2hr as well in addition to the wyvern he already had? Or for that matter, what about drg mobs in Dynamis?

Makes me wonder if Maat will even summon a wyvern at all, since he doesn't use Job Abilities apart from the Two Hour.

If any other job ever deserved a new 2hr, I'd have to say it's drk. Honestly, Blood Weapon brings NOTHING to an xp pt. So if S-E gets bored and changes another one, I hope it's drk.

Really though.. Blood weapon drains proportionately for the damage you do, doesn't it? It's not that it brings nothing to an EXP PT. It's that it brings nothing to the high delay of Great Axe, Great Sword, and Scythe. Axe, it's pretty decent I'd assume.

Thank god there's one of you. I'm positive that there's something out there, probably the brady guide or whatever it's called, giving drg's advice on what annoying as hell text to put into their jump macros. Lots of people are bad about it, but jumps have to be the most retarded, and the most pointless by far.

On bard and black mage I have no party talk in any of my macros, on ninja, ranger, and thief my only party talk is TP and ws. There is absolutely no reason for anything beyond that in exp, all you do is spam the chat log making it tougher for that rare case good rdm that watches for moves that need dispelled and enfeebles wearing, or that whm that watches for status cures being needed.

And a saying in your macro that is half clever the first time you see it gets very old after seeing it every 5 minutes for 3 hours. I've blacklisted people for the duration of parties due to really annoying macros.

Stouter, I think I love you. Amen!

lol At lower levels, I had a jump macro. There were no <call> or anything in it, but I saw how annoying it was even to me after a few levels and got rid of it.

"Taking it to the skies..." You will be missed ; ; lol

I do still keep a macro in for my Super Jump though, so the tank knows that the hate will be coming back to him. It should be obvious, but I thought it would be good to have in there just incase. No complaints yet...

So now that call wyvern is no longer a 2hr, you think you can you use it when you have drg subed?

That was part of the reason I thought that they wouldn't be able to change DRG 2 hour to a Job ability. If you read the changes though, it says only if the job is a Dragoon main will they be able to use the Call Wyvern ability.

-Call Wyvern
The recast time for this ability will be reduced to twenty minutes. This ability will only be available when the main job is set to dragoon.

No cause you still have to have DRG as a main apperantly.

All i can say is that all you DRGs deserve this. I hope this means that you all will be seeing more party action. If not, then Dragoon Burn Party FTW!

Straying a little off topic, but as far as /p in macros goes... I agree with Lanien that Super Jump should be the only one with a little information that he's shedding all his hate. In my last party, the drg had a "clever" little saying on his jump macros, as did the blm on EVERY spell. Nearly blisted the blm, the drg was only minorly annoying.

As a BRD, I do in fact put /p {Madrigal}, {Accuracy bonus} -----> {party} (or whatever song/stat it is) on my party buff macros. I like my party to know exactly what buffs they are recieving. It's just a simple little thing "This is what buff the party is recieving and this is what it does" thing. Not everyone knows what all the songs mean, so I do feel it best to explain them (when I run around like a madman casting Minuet, Madrigal, Mambo, March, or Minne how many people do you think would catch what stat boosts they got?) No /p in my debuffs or individual buffs; it doesn't directly affect 2-6 people so everyone doesn't need to hear it.

As for the drg update... I don't think it is necessary, but I do think it is a good move. It's a big change, but I don't think we'll see a flood of drgs now as many of you are predicting (past dunes or qufim that is). When THF got Assassin, how many new THFs were there? When SAM got Zanshin, how many new SAMs? Divine Veil, how many WHMs? People run away from nerfs, but don't necessarily flock to buffs.

But who knows. Maybe the only reason a lot of people stayed away from DRG was because of the lack of a "real" 2hr. I doubt they'll be getting invites like crazy now, though. I've never overlooked drg while building a party because "Oh, he doens't have a real 2hr. Screw that." or "Oh, his wyvern will just die in 10 minutes and then he'll be useless." In my view, this doesn't make DRG any more appealing to me while building a party, it'll just get rid of a few of the downsides if something goes wrong. We don't (at least I don't think) pick people because of their 2hr. Otherwise NIN wouldn't ever get parties.

Yeeessss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WAAAHHHHHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok im good now, had to excited for a bit, so all is well for me......

WAAAAAHHHHHHHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok well I believe that pretty well sums up my opinion of the update on drg

In the next version update, major changes are scheduled for the dragoon two-hour ability.

The development team does not consider the dragoon to be particularly weak when compared to other jobs, but we are aware that a large part of a dragoon's strength depends on the presence of his or her wyvern. After taking into account the wyvern's tendency to be quickly defeated in heated battles, and the dragoon's lack of a powerful special ability for use in missions and other critical situations, it was decided that improvements were necessary.

Simply raising the wyvern's HP and defense to increase its survivability would cause balance issues in other parts of the game. However, it was judged that improving the dragoon's two-hour ability would have less of an impact on overall balance, and so the following changes have been planned for the upcoming version update:

-New two-hour ability
The dragoon will be imbued with the strength of his or her wyvern for a fixed length of time, increasing the dragoon's power and adding special effects to "Jump" abilities.

-Call Wyvern
The recast time for this ability will be reduced to twenty minutes. This ability will only be available when the main job is set to dragoon.

-Wyvern
Wyverns will now have the equivalent of the job trait "Subtle Blow," reducing the amount of TP gained by opponents from the wyvern's attacks.

More details will be announced at the time of the version update.

update information states that only the drg job can still call wyvern. Nice addition to the code, and I applaud SE for doing this.

Throughout my FF career, Dragoon was my favorite job.. Being a Taru drg, I was shunned by my peers... so I put off life as a dragoon until I was able to get my secondary main up.

Upon hearing these news, I went home and pulled all of my old gear from my mules, and dusted it off.. Convincing my moogle to pull my old job out of retirement, I went outside to call my faithful companion.. realizing as I called for him.. that it's been awhile, and he's probably hungry.. not sure he would remember me as his bud, or see me as a tender appetizer.... I ran back in as soon as I saw him coming.. I'll leave George in Sarutabaruta to feed for a bit before I throw my flag up this evening ..

(old habit to have my 2 hr reset before I exp.)

28 Taru Drg back in action, watch for the flying Taru!

Blood weopan sucks, hands down. It really does have a hidden effect: ACC Down. My Drk is pretty decked out with ACC gear and I hit pretty consistantly, but when BW is turned on.... At the end of one xp session, my party was chaining vt raptors in Kuftal. I was hitting pretty consistantly, but then we get the agreed upon last mob of the night, everyone 2 hrs. My log went something like:

Hit
Hit
Hit
*turns on BW*
miss
miss
miss
miss
miss
*BW wears off*
hit
hit
hit

I kid you not!! The only good thing about BW, is that if you use it in conjunction with SE+LR, it keeps you from having diminished returns on attack. But as far as 2hrs go, I'd take Mnk, Sam, War, Pld, and even the current Drg 2hr over BW anyday. I think only perfect dodge is more useless in a party environment, though that has it's uses too.

I do like this change to Drg though. Now just to add a refresh pact to Smn, and Ill be happy.

Woot!!! I can't wait to see Jessie again!!! I've really missed him.

DRG is my main, love it to bits :D

Unless the party needs to react to what you are doing, it should have no party chat lines. I get annoyed seeing other brds spam /p for every buff. I know you are doing ballad, I don't care to see it in chat line. If they really want to know what melee buffs, they can check the song in the top left of the screen which tells them what it does. Considering you repeat the same songs for hours at a time, they should know pretty well.

The few times a /p line is warrented are sleeps, escape, cover, most 2hours (if it will cause hate issues). Things that require action from others in the party to continue proper procedure.

The drg change seems nice, but still not the boost in dmg they really need. Sounds like nothing more than a glorified mighty strikes. I'm disappointed SE says they still do not see drg as too weak in comparison to the other jobs. At least SE is taking the correct approach in strengthening the weaker job rather than weakening the current strongest.

??????????????????????

Dragoon doesn't need a boost in damage, Rones. It needed the "lol u don't have wyvern now u r gimped" problem removed, and this does it just fine. Dragoon has always been fine in damage, it's just the morons out there that think the Wyvern is the only part of it that caused the problems.

2 hrs hardly ever save the day in xp. It's missions bcnms and HNM fights that theyre useful for.

And I like blood weapon - but I would have an orgasm if i was on a 12 or 24 minute timer... like seriously, a huge orgasm. I wouldn't be able to move for weeks.

Finally. DRG4life paying off.
I wonder how this will effect ballista, also Still have some sever vs server matches to go thru.

<Jump> <Death> Do you need it?>
