Some quick info for those who dont know.

You can buy an angon for around 250 gil a piece (give or take) in whitegate. Someone, please verify 'said' NPC. I havent had a chance to get out there yet.

It is not effected by ranged attack or accuracy and I've heard it to hit 100% of the time. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Its range is around that of a Jump.

It does no dmg and you can gain no TP from it.

Yes, it is different than Tomahawk. Tomahawk has much longer cooldown but I hear it does more DEF down? Someone confirm please. Still not sure if the two stack.

Any new info on Angon, please post here.
 
Angon seems to be a 20-25% defense down (read: f'king huge)

Someone take it to the Diorama and test against a PD THF, if it hits, it's 100%, if not, it's just really accurate.

And from what I've been hearing about WAR, Tomahawk isn't physical defense down, hence the "special defense down" in the description. Magic defense, maybe?
 
Either way, I really wanna see a WAR and DRG use these abilities together. I'd really be interested in the results. I think Angon may be the first thing I'll be spending my Merits on. ^^
 
ya that could make fights a lot easier with tomahawk and angon used together, cant wait to get to 75 to see some of that stuff! thanks for the info!
 
Found out that the only way you'll miss with Angon is when it hits shadows.

I also found out that it reduces def by 20%.
 
20%, nice... how long is the effect? That should open drg up to some more endgamey stuff.

I'm wondering if Tomahawk works somewhat similar to Formless Strikes, in that it lowers the special def that we know so well from avatar primes & elementals.
 
It lasts around 30 seconds.

They go for around 248-250 gil each (little under 25k/stack of 99) from said vendor, I don't recall his name atm, but he's on the east end of Whitegate marked on the map as a weapons vendor around K-10, found this one after seeing 100k/stack on the AH for these.

If it's merited, the duration is lengthened, not the potency.
 
"Special Defense Down" sounds more like it'd lower the defense against WS's etc, as in "special" moves
 
So is Angon something that would be more effective if macroed into a WS macro, or something that should probably be on it's own macro if at all?

If macroed into a WS macro, what would the delay between the ws and angon be? Only thing I could come up with having not used this ja yet was:

/ja "Angon" <t>
/wait 1
/ws "ws name here" <t>
/p [WS announcement for SC if applicable]

Or something like that, like I said, I've yet to actually get to use Angon ^^;
 
Well, it lasts for 30 seconds so...I'd probably leave it as its own macro. Probably have a macro that unequips your current ranged item, and equip the angon, then the /ja to use it.
 
Good advice Brin, I tried the method of macroing it in, but it just made me waste a good angon before it was needed, I just wound up making a separate macro for it afterall.
 
3 minute recast, 30 second effect duration at the first level.

Edit: Duration of the defense down effect increases 15 seconds per upgrade.

Sounds like a sweet way to boost the power of not only your weapon skills but you jump and high jump also.

angon > penta > jump > high-jump > dead mob?

Thats my guess though, penta was the highest weaponskill I got to.
 
It's really useful for cranking out more dmg, just about any way you use it really. I've found it very useful against mobs that lances have damage reduction against, like bones and magc jars and etc.

Careful when you use it on certain mobs though, you don't want to wind up pulling extreme amounts of hate from a mob that has far too much hp left and the tank is going through hell just to get hate back before you bite the dust. (I nearly did that meriting the other day XD )
 
Yar! I finally got my Angon ability last night. I was screwing around and went out to fight some Colibri with no food of course on i'm /WHM sub. After using Angon, I did 1466 dmg penta. XDDD
