So I am around 5'9 185 lbs, normal sized dude I guess but the wintertime and slacking off a bit on working out (Ok I haven't done any sans a few jogs) have gaven me a little bit of a beer belly that I cant stand to look at.

With the summer coming up and plenty of festivals, concerts, etc. basically lots of shit where I would rather not be wearing a shirt I was wondering if any of you had any good ideas on how to shape up and drop a quick 10lbs in a matter of 2 or 3 weeks. I have read quite a few things that sure do not sound appealing at all, and of course, I really don't want to work "that" hard for it haha.

So, basically, you want to lose weight really fast without actually putting in any effort or anything. Yeah, good luck with that.

P.S. losing any more than about 2 pounds a week is usually ill advised by medical professionals unless you're morbidly obese.

I'm going to agree with Fellina on this, no effort = no results. You can't expect to do like 5 crunches and see the results in a short time frame. A great book that helped me while I was at the gym was Men's Health Hard Body Workout, which you can find at pretty much any major book store. The emphasis on the book is working out for about an hour or so a day, which won't leave you burnt out and the nutritional information is great too.

I have an idea that will blow your mind.

Seven.

Minute.

Abs.

It's like 8 minute abs, but 1 minute less. If you aren't fully satisfied, we send you the extra minute for free.

Now that I have that out of the way, 10 pounds shouldn't be too tough, but it isn't very good for you. In high school, I always did extensive weight training for football and baseball, but during the off seasons, I would always gain some fat. As weird as this sounds, to lose the weight, I alternated work outs between my trampoline and my high schools pool. For the trampoline, I just used to just bounce as hard as I could. You have no idea how many different muscles you use to bounce yourself, and the aerobic aspect of it is very good. For the pool part, I would do laps and such, but I would also go to the deep end, and just tread water for as long as I could. I know this sounds strange, but treading water is very hard to do after a while, and can really form a great workout. Never do this when you are alone though because of obvious consequences like cramping and drowning lol

probably the best diet that worked for me was weight watchers. it is what i recommend due to the fact you still get to eat what you want just portion control. also exercise increases weight loss dramatically. i lost 40 lbs in a matter of 4-6 months on it. not great results but got me what i needed to a good start to a changed lifestyle.

Thanks for the replies, obviously in retrospect I realize 10 lbs is by no means "drastic" but whatever with summer coming up I hate to have a belly no matter what. I guess eating smaller portions, light excercise, and eating slower in general should hopefully get me back in decent shape =/

losing weight as others said in a short amount of time may not only show no effort, but it takes its toll on your body. Becareful of those fast ways or simple ways with pills, diets and shit or it could affect all areas of health.

hit the gym once or twice a week, start steading and build your way up by increasing repetitions. Work one part of the body out each time, ie lower muscles first then the day after tomorrow the upper body.

To increase performance of your body and the ability to break down stuff add some aerobics as well, learn about the 4 different types of exercises can help determine the kind of shape you want to be in and what you're aiming for.

On a serious note, do you drink sodas regularly? If the answer is yes, you'd be amazed at how much weight you'd lose simply by cutting those out of your life. Now.. you wouldn't gain any muscle ofcourse by just doing that.

Set aside two or three days of the week, whether alternating or one after the other I don't care, though alternating the days would likely have a higher rate of making you lose weight and shape up.

On these days set aside 1-2 hours or basically however long it takes and start stretching your body out for probably 15-30 minutes then start excersizing (i know i spelled that wrong) do sit-ups (as many as you can, but try to at least do 35, in 2 minutes), crunches (I don't stop until i get to 100 since they're easier to do, but have a goal), push-ups (start out with a number you're comfortable with doing, increase it each week by 2-5 pushups, until you feel like you've hit a cap). Also if you happen to have any weights, use em.

Then take a shower and go to sleep or get on with your day, that my friend, depends on your lifestyle.

However if all your looking for is just to lose weight, well there's no simple way, but a little working out isn't very hard to do.

I have given up pop a few times and everytime noticed a change in my fitness, but god bless drinking water only gets old after a few months =(

When i was a wrestler and wanted to make weight, i could lose a a good chunk of weight by just spitting. Its kind of gross, and not healthy at all so i don't advise it, but if you are really desperate.

Get a starburst and just suck on it until your mouth starts to water, and then spit all the saliva in to a jar or something that is weighable. After you're done you can see how much weight in water you have lost.

Want to lose 10 pounds in a month? Eat high fiber, medium carbs, high protein, low fat. Moderate cardio and moderate weight training. I would eat no less than 1600, no more than 2200 calories in a day. (Those numbers should be close to basal metabolic rate for you. Google it.)

You won't be satisfied with yourself until you really change your lifestyle though. Take the advice on its own merit. I don't see you losing 10 pounds with little effort in 3 weeks unless it is, as suggested, water weight -- which won't touch the gut.

Ever heard of Crystal Light? Makes regular drinking water way better and has no real additives.

You can lose weight relatively fast by completely cutting out carbs for a week. Eating only red meat and salad (typically with a very light dressing or apple cider vinegar and/or lemon juice and pepper) as much as you want for all 7 days can pretty much flush the system and gets your metabolism to a peak. You could probably lose 10lbs quite easily that way but you HAVE TO DRINK WATER. For men, the necessary daily consumption of water equals about 2.5 gallons. So.. get some damn Crystal Light or Sugar Free Kool-Aid or something, because if you do that you absolutely have to drink water. Also, try 2 eggs in the morning, that protein will really kickstart your metabolism, which is why eating breakfast regularly (a healthy one) is really essential to your health.

This strategy is typically called 'Cleanse' and can be found in books like 'The Atkin's Diet'. Look it up, do it properly and DRINK WATER.

Sprinkle salt on cotton balls to curb your appetite. Since your body can't process the cotton balls, it will go right through you.

I got that from a Pro-Ana site. O_O

very true, I didn't mention this to him specifically because it also helps build muscle, muscle is heavier than fat but it wouldn't hurt much.

Try not to eat a lot of bread in the morning as well wait until the evening, it tells your body to start storing energy(read: leads to more fat).

If you want to tone yourself eat a fruit or something like yougurt in the morning

O_o Wtf Blue that's... ew... I'd say that's last resort only. Bleh..*shudder*

The way to a good body starts in the kitchen.

Really, there's no way around it. You can work out a lot, but without a healthy diet it'll be much harder.

i've just recently started to get into my diet/workout regimine and i can tell you that since i started i've had a full glass of ice water next to me 24/7, not lying, water is the most important thing you can put into your body, i've cut down on pop significantly, its hard to do but now i only drink it when i eat certain foods

like everyone said, breakfast is important to have, to add to this, 5 or 6 small meals over 3 medium size ones or 2 large size ones is better for your metabolism

Also, to the person that mentioned spitting. I do believe he's not trying to lose weight, he's trying to lose his belly fat. Spitting won't help that >.>

Like people have said... diet is the key.

I have a more slender build (5'9" 150-55lbs), and Im trying to get back a 6pack for the summer. I run 2-3miles 3 times a week, and do 120 reps of bicycle crunches, and 40 reps of leg lifts 4-5 times a week... and I still have no real change after 2-3 weeks.

Why? Cause I eat like crap lol. (I eat like 2 of my size guys) I need to get some willpower when it comes to food... but its so good! Anyways, eat healthy and even if you dont do much exercise, your body get in better shape merely through what you put in it.
