So what all subjobs are good for a DRK to have? Now I have never even unlocked the job and beyond them SC with me as a SAM, I really don't know what would be good for a sub to DRK. But my friend want's to play again as a DRK/NIN, the problem is his NIN is 24 and his DRK is 56. I know THF is good and so is WAR, but he also has RDM to 31 but I want to know if someone knows some secret DRK/job that worked great for them and give me some insite on why/how it worked good. His NIN is getting leveled to 37 by myself and a friend of ours, but I was just wondering what other DRKs have done and how different combinations worked.
 
War to 60, thf/war to 75, nin for cannons.
 
DRK/WAR to 60 (maybe 66), DRK/THF to 75. DRK/WAR and DRK/NIN available again on a case-by-case basis at 75.

This is the standard route of the DRK.

Note that /NIN is practically useless to a DRK until very high level.
 
I've personally been DRK/THF from 1-60. The most common way is DRK/WAR to 60-66ish(I think), then DRK/WAR, and finally DRK/NIN. I haven't really tried out other subjobs because, well, I'm lazy. I'm planning on getting the expected subs up to date, then I may experiment a little.
 
OK all of you gave me the standard blah blah blah answers... two of you don't even play DRK, and the one that does isn't even sure about the job he did. OK I'm looking for REAL DRKs to answer my origional post, Baja, Tag don't respond anymore in this thread.
 
that's a pretty rude response to people who were only trying to help. i'm sure they're knowledgable enough to know good subs for drk, and they pretty much gave the same answer i would.

it's not a rocket science job so if you think you're getting standard answers, well yeah, it's cause there isn't much depth to drk.

Well, this isn't the flameboard, so I'm not going to go on and on about that bratty attitude you've got, there. This isn't the first time you've displayed it. Someone else will, though, so I'll leave them to it. By the end of it, the effects of that post alone might be enough for the thread to be moved.



On-topic with the thread: I think you've been answered sufficiently; at least, it fits the vague requirements of what you've asked. I don't think you'll hear much different than what's already been said.

Because neither have high level jobs and neither have ever pt'd with a DRK.

DRK/RDM will work out in solo situations very well. The Def bonus from Stoneskin and Phalanx with the fact that Souleater eats at Stoneskin before our HP all comes into play on that. However it is not a viable sub for XP situations.
As far as DRK/NIN goes, it has its times. Gonna be useless until 74 when you get access to Ni really, but it does help for some situations. Also definantly want to have those Axes capped off to get the most from this set up. We can still get Decimation, so that tells you we are that gimped on axes. Woody and a Maneater (unfortunante names I know) rock on an intelligent DRK.
DRK/THF, cookie cutter xp 66-75 really. Remember /THF isnt hate control for DRK, its life support.
DRK/WAR cookies again up to 66. Always fun to fall back on though.
Finally DRK/SAM for higher levels is always nice. No more sleep pots for that rush to 300% for Gods shell shit, and it makes for some scary fights in Ballista.
 
Ok first off, it's my thread, I asked for other "DRKs" to answer my question. I really don't care what people that have partied with DRKs have to say on the topic at hand. I'm looking for answers from People that actually play the job, to get their perception of the job.

DRK/NIN post 56 is a great thing to have in your party. Soul Eater Last Resort Rampage is an awsome thing to see. An even better thing to see is my brother holding hate as a PLD from that going off. Now if all of the people that triied non mainstream subs would please step forward I would love to hear from you instead of this turing into a "OMG SHAUNESSY IS A FREAKING NOOB" thread that pretty much all of my threads outside of the flameboard seem to become.

Unless you can contribute to what I asked please stay away. I don't care how many jobs you have to 75, unless one is a DRK, or how many times you partied with a DRK. It's a very simple question I asked, yet noone has answered it.

drk/war to 66 or drk/sam at lvl 60 to 66

drk/thf to 74-75

drk/war with scythe or drk/nin with axe at 74/75

for soloing i guess drk/rdm or drk/nin with blood bolts

shaun they are right i used DRK/war till 60 then the option of /thf is there but depending on the party /war still works better. dont know bout higher lvls b/c im 64 but ya i thats what i used. i did see little taru's /blm back in the days of the jungles but that only b/c they had mp and no blm in pt.

oh and weapons just if your wondering. i used scythe the entire time one b/c my gsword blows right now, and two b/c when i started up drk nobody told me gsword was better at higher lvl, plus w/ the update to drk and scythe i like it a helluvah lot betta. hope this helps
 
DRK/NIN is awsome at any point past 24 actually. They really tear shit apart making the shadows a neccesity.

if you're going to insist on a "drk-only" answer, then you're really just limiting yourself to the knowledge that can be attained. just cause someone has a drk at 75 doesn't necessarily mean that they're more qualified than someone who has seen the same drk in action. why disregard someone who can reason intelligently or even better than someone who may be a 75 drk? and are you gonna totally ignore someone who posts entirely valid advice but has no job level attached to their name?

either way, the things that the people posted here are about the same things you'll get from most people who respond.

Did you even read my first post? Yes, I want to limit my knowledge. I want to limit it to people that acually play DRK, I want to hear their views on doing certain things, I want to hear what weird DRK/whatever worked in whatever situations. How can someone that never played the job answer that question??? I don't want advice from a 75 WHM/75 MNK on how to play DRK, I want it from a 75 DRK. So to reiterate, Unless you can contribute to what I asked please stay away. Thank you.

You have no idea how much your statement and who it's directed to is making me laugh at work right now.

Take drk/war to 60, then piss off all your thief friends by going to 75 with drk/thf. Then reroll because no HNM shell will need you.

berserk, double attack and eventually warcry are too important to give up (well to me anyways. i <3 Double attack with my scythe, screw SATA!)

And did he provide any answers to the questions I asked? NO. Therefore shut the fuck up. Oh and this isn't about endgame God/HNM shells or any of the other shit that you people think is so goddamn important. I doubt that my friend would even really do any of that shit because he hates everything about aspect of the game. He likes playing DRK. He asked me and another friend to level his NIN so he can be a DRK/NIN. I figured that while I'm leveling his NIN I could do some other jobs that might be cool for a DRK also. Having never played DRK I asked "OTHER DRKS" a very simple question, and so far have only gotten one good answer out of what 30 replies. I really wish you could erase posts from threads that you started.

That's funny that you posted here because I think he was a part of Arcane Garden, but the fact that people in your LS would never help him out, even though he would help out others that asked, is one of the reasons he quit in the first place.
