Anyone else cash in their Lite/Old School DS for a DSi yet or get one to add to your collection?

I was really against it but after I heard about the DSi enhanced cartridges I had no choice. While I like the thought of havin' downloadable games, which opens up the door to DLC, there is just to much I don't like about the new body and buttons. This thing really, structure wise, is a piece of shit. It's to slim, the D-Pad is awful (doesn't stick out enough to make it near as responsive), and the shoulder buttons are clunky. There are only two good things about it, imo. The bigger screen is awesome, and the capabilities inside are awesome, though nothin' new I'm just glad to see them on my favorite hand held.

So, I can't decide if I like mine or not. What about you guys?

Don't plan on getting one. Why? Nintendo will just put out a new version in a year call it DSi Lite.

No GBA slot is lolwut, since at least one successful DS game I can name right now cannot be played at all on a DSi.

I picked one up last night. The camera functions are pretty neat and I also got Aquio for free since it came with 1000 points or whatever. It's a real nice game and it's DSi only. I still have a ds lite also for games that require it.

There is a time when you gotta get with the times and kiss some things goodbye. Though, I'm kind of sad it's gone too, and not because I'm still attached to any GBA games as I most definitely have moved on, as it would have made it thicker.

I'm steerin' clear of DSiWare for a while, I'm not buyin' into camera gimmick games and the likes. Hopefully they'll settle down sooner than later and we'll find ourselves with some real, non gimmick, gems in there.

I repeat: there is at least one commercial and successful DS game out there - which has more than one release, mind you - that requires the GBA slot to work.

I'm not talking about GBA game compatibility. I haven't even played a GBA game in a while. But I do play the aforementioned DS game.

I have no plans to upgrade at the moment because I'm just as likely to be playing GBA games as DS ones on my DS Lite. If they decide to add a portable Virtual Console with stuff like Link's Awakening and Metroid II: The Return of Samus and Metroid: Zero Mission, etc., I'd go for it.

Amen,
Oracle of Ages/Seasons and Super Mario Land 3 too, among others.

That's somethin' to "lolwut" at. Definitely still fits the "get with the times" considerin' the atrocious game you're skiddin' around mentionin' is the horrid, horrid Metal Fight Beyblade.

Seriously though, I'm not bein' a dick, you really play that game?

He's probably talking about Guitar Hero: On Tour, they have 2 titles on the DS that utilize a "Guitar Grip" that goes into the GBA slot on the DS, with a 3rd title in the works.

Ah, forgot about those games. I figured he was embarrassed because he kept beatin' around the bush on the name. Nothin' to be embarrassed about with GH, not sayin' I'm a fan though, definitely not.

Not to mention the Pokemon addicts who can't use the GBA slot to import or hunt creatures from the older games... but those addicts have probably already done that on an older DS.

I was "beatin' around the bush" because I was just trying to make a point that there ARE IN FACT DS GAMES that use the GBA slot. It's not BAWW I WANT MY BONUS BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY, it's BAWW I WANT GAMES INTENDED FOR THIS THING TO WORK.

And hi there!

I probably won't be replacing my DS Lite for a while for two reasons:

The fuckers at GameStop kept trying to force it on me for pre-order because "THERE WILL NOT BE ENOUGH TO MEET DEMAND" (horseshit), and because of no GBA slot. I still play Final Fantasy V: Advance regularly, and I couldn't imagine losing that yet.

True. I'm only just now getting around to collecting those. I caught a Shuckle this morning before work with my copy of Emerald in the GBA slot. Now I need to get a Seviper through a trade or order a copy of Sapphire so I can get it myself. Decisions, decisions...

For those of you who bought one, how's the D pad on this one? I liked the solid feel of the original DS pad more than the loose, floaty one on the DS Lite.

I've heard mixed opinions; some say it's amazing and a huge improvement, or that it's terrible and not worth anyone's money.

I couldn't tell you, I didn't and aren't going to buy one.

I like the D-Pad and the increased screen size. I didn't really have any attachment to GBA slot games to justify not getting the "upgrade." I would have really liked some more USB slots and attachments to adapt in an external GBA slot at least.

I don't like the D-Pad one bit for games like FFCC (actiony). It's fine for anything else. You do get use to it though, but still, not near as comfortable as the original DS or the DS Lite D-Pad.

Pass. Aside from a few gimmick titles, all the features besides touch screen will move on to the land of wind and ghosts like with the microphone.

I started out with a DS. I then decided to upgrade to a DS Lite. I'm not paying money to "upgrade" again, especially since I won't be able to play GBA games. Half the reason I got a DS in the first place was so I could play fun old NES/SNES games. Besides, my Lite is pink. Unless this new contraption shits out gold, I see no reason to get one.
