Omg I just bought me a new pc *which i plan to strip and put in my gamer case* Dual Core Athlon 64 this bish is SWEEEEEEET dling up dates for FFXI and playing CS:S on my clans server with everything turned way up! I am so glad I was stuck with a xp 2000+ for like ever and now I can play Dyanmis with out have to turn everyhting off ; ;.dam this is 1337.

Nice, I think my dream set up right now would be Dual Core'd AMD 64 (4400~?), two nVidia 7800's in SLI.... And 2 gig of low latency ram... I would then proceed to hump my computer down the ethernet untill I had to rest, then I'd play some Doom 3 / Half life 2 on Max settings :)

But I'm a poor school boy and will never be able to afford all that unless I win the lottery or something... *gets parents to enter in to the lottery...*

Yeah I am slow building a new rig. So far I have 2 74 gig Raptors, 1 Gb of PC 3200 ram (going to eventually up it to 2gb), a new full tower case. Over time I will be able to snatch up some other components. I think I will save the proc and videocard/s until last to get a better price point.

I can't wait. Anyone else hear about AMD's quad core proc's that they are working on? Exciting times for tech-junkies.

Actually, the dual core has very little, if anything, to do with your outstanding FFXI performance. FFXI doesn't take advantage of dual core CPUs and the OS overhead is pretty negligible these days.. The performance increase you are seeing is caused by your new graphic card, faster CPU clock, faster front-side bus, faster memory. Still, gratz on the new rig. ;)

@Blabj
Low latency memory is largely irrelevant if you are using an A64 because the onboard memory controller does a very good job as it is. If I could find the post on Hardforum that had some extensive benchmarking I'd post it. The bottom line was an increase of 3% to 8% in mempory benchmarks, and no practical increase, when comparing low latency to value ram.
