Right, here's the situation:

We got a MNK/noSub and a THF/WAR. Both 15. Not geared ubar pimp +1 ONRY but not without some good stuff. As in, we're pretty average.

We operate out of Bastok and plan on mainly duoing. Where do we go? We've exhausted Gustaberg, of course and have moved on to the Dunes, but pulls are a bit too sporadic and the rest time is too high to be called "effective." Where would we go now?

A little guide would be nice. Future plans are, in order:

Player 1:
DRK/THF
THF/NIN
BLM/RDM

Player 2:
MNK/WAR
BST/WHM
SCH/WHM

Where do we go? Good areas? This whole duo thing doesn't have too many guides, it seems. I am looking around a bit and well, I can't find jack in terms of guides actually made for people who duo.

that's because after a certain point, you really need to get full 6 person exp parties to get anywhere in this game under 5 years. IF you plan on being 75 one day, duoing to 75 is not the answer, just static with your friend and form pts, at 15 of course you stay in the dunes. If you DO plan on duoing, one of you needs to be mage while the other war mnk pld nin, w/e can tale some hits and live and hold hate.

Also at lv 15 you should be able to duo the lizards in the dunes near konchstat zone. then work your way towards crabs then gobs. If you do this to 20, then just stay in dunes until about 22-23, maybe even 24, checking for T mobs and such that you now you can handle. At that point move the Duo team to qufim and focus on worms, make sure one of you can silence. at about 27-28 work towards crabs or maybe if you feel tough, gobs or bats inside of low delkfutt. by the time you have duo'd to 30, it will probably be march, and then I would say its time to test other ares, like outside of jeuno to duo 30+, maybe yuhtunga but idk how a duo team could fare on mandys (depends on the jobs)

honestly, I'd say plow through EMs and DCs. Fighting Ts, you'll have much more downtime. Since you're duoing, you'll also get a +25% EXP boost on mobs EM and under(And you'll be killing faster,) on top of the delicious EVA and DEF bonuses Signet provides.

There are lots of different ways to duo. You usually need to try to fit a tank, a damage dealer, and a healer into the combo. It really depends on what level you are, and how high you're planning to go, as to exactly how you go about it. Pretty much anything can tank at L15 though, but I'd still recommend a mage as a second job to make things go a bit faster.

There have been a lot of game changes since the start to make soloing and duoing more feasable. A number of jobs can solo to 75 now, and duoing can work ok, although you probably won't get the exp/hr of a party. It should be faster than soloing though, and it certainly doesn';t take 5 years to solo to 75. It's probably the best idea to target EMs and low Ts, to get the chain bonuses.

At 15, Lizards and rabbits in Valkurm are about the right level. Maybe want to grind out another level in Konshat first, but if you're killing the bunnies and lizards ok, then stick with them. Better alternatives at 16 are probably Maze of Shakrimi (Goblins and easier worms) or Bubu Peninsula which has similar mobs to Valkurm, but is always empty of people.

25% exp bonus applies to all mobs, only def/eva bonus applies to mob weaker than em.

DC/EM is lower or equal to the players level

so they are technically weaker

I duo'd to about level 30 with a friend of mine, me being drg and she was nin. We fought mainly EM-T. And leveled alot faster than most pt's in that level range.

At 15 I'd probably stick to the dunes, fight lizards and what not, kind of move up as a pt would (lizard > crab > fly > gob, etc) just your going to have to be alot higher level to handle those as duo. Just make sure to carry antidotes, and maybe a few potions for those "shit hits the fan" moments.

I actually have alot of fun duoing, but it kinda dies out mid 30's.

I use http://monsters.ffxi-atlas.com/ if I'm unsure of where to party at if I'm the leader, if the leader doesn't no where to go, or if I want to solo. You can punch in what level you are, how much exp you want per mob, and some other variables.

If you decide to use this tool you have a mob(s) picked out that you would like to exp on, it would be useful to cross reference the mob(s) using http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Main_Page to see if your party setup is the optimal setup for those said mobs.

As stated by some others, try some parties in the dunes. I know, I know, "LolDunes" and all that, but you can easily knock out 15-20 in a day probably as long as your party is somewhat reliable, so it doesn't have to be as terrible as some make it out to be.

After that things should become a little easier, but also (as already said) having a DD and Mage combo is far more useful than a DD duo. Me and a buddy did RDM and NIN duo for a little while with some decent success, especially on worms in Korroloka tunnel (18ish) and Qufim (A little more heavily camped, but 20-25ish, worms and eventually crabs mixed in).

Also, what Skaw said is extremely useful. The Signet bonuses would be especially GREAT for duo-DD's with the increased HP while healing and evasion for sure.
