Dynamis Antics

If you were to glean these boards for information, you could easily find out who I am and where I live. I've posted my real name before, and the city/state in which I live.

wait wait wait, I know this one

Most importantly, to both sides; don't ever piss off Myrrh. I do not lie to you when I say I have never seen more unbridled rage in a single human being as I have when I was hanging with him ingame. He "jokes" about going on a killing spree against his friends (I am one of his friends) and I'm actually frightened by him enough to know that I keep a minimum of three state-lines between me and him, and I change my phone number every month so he can't track me down. He is cold, he is calculated, he is an outright killing machine the likes of which have never been seen, and likely never will again.

Nu uh! He's a pussy cat. Don't let his act fool you! (<3 Myrrh)

Zal said it best~ We're wasting our time trying to talk to Palides. He's the type of person most of the server should Blist so that he starts to understand being a bully won't make him feel better about himself. To qoute Charlie Bartlet:

Maybe you got slapped around one too many times for lunch money on your way to the bus. Maybe your pop's gotta booze himself up every morning so he can plow roads with a sense of humor. Then when he gets home, you're just a distant third to Sloppy Joes and a bad sitcom. Maybe the cheerleaders call you a scumbag behind your back. Maybe it's because the school's got you placed on the remedial track and your teachers are really good at making you feel like an idiot. Maybe it's none of these things. Maybe it's all of them.

Rather than attacking poor Palides for being an unfeeling bully, we should take into consideration he's probably got it bad someway in order to make him such a prick towards others and just let him be.

I'd just like to point out that, no matter what people thought of my overly repetitive posts, this thread didn't really explode into a complete shit-storm of stupid until after I had left.

...and on that note we're done with Dynamis Antics.

Palides just had his flameboard access restricted so this thread could come alive again. Re-opened and let's see where it goes!

I've just noticed two threads in the dynamis scheduling section entitled Sorry.... It seems people are dropping out of the system due to zone jacking, this doesnt seem good and I can only forsee more zone problems if people dont use the schedule.

Given the staggeringly bad attitudes represented from both sides, in this thread, are you honestly surprised? I mean, I am saddened by it too, but there are so many chips on shoulders and so much "fuck you, I'm gonna get mine" in this thread, I'm really glad I'm not around to witness it firsthand.

And this is exactly what I was afraid was going to happen.

Let me tell you a story. About a month after the merge, one of the bigger Midgard Dynamis linkshells posted a schedule for the first time on here in an attempt to use the system. Due to a minor miscommunication, they were tagged as entering an hour earlier than they actually do.

On the day of their first run, someone from Quetz (that was presumably in the shell that scheduled for the time-slot after them) saw them gathering at the trail markings came up to the group and, in /say, said to them, "You guys were supposed to be in there already! You damn well better be out on time!" Not realizing there was an error in the posted time, the Midgard shell wasn't sure what this guy's problem was. During the resulting argument, one of the very first things the Quetz person did was refer to the group at the markings as "You Midgard Fucks!" He also threatened to have his shell jack their zones next time if they weren't out in time.

That was a true story. I have seen screenshots of the entire conversation. It was not my shell, and therefore I'm not going to post them. If you don't believe me because of that, fine, and I'd encourage someone from the shell this happened to, to post them if it's really necessary.

This is just one of about 3 examples I've personally heard of shells WHO WERE TRYING TO USE THE SYSTEM getting bitched out by someone who felt the need to personally go an police that these new shells were "doing it right". Now I know that there are assholes everywhere, and I'm sure (or at least I am assuming) that these few people are very few, and that vast majority of players wouldn't act like that. But regardless, this stuff does, and has been, happening.

Given all this, does it honestly surprise you that shells that aren't used to using this system are having a hard time feeling the need to try?

Now, lets look at the other side of the argument. All it takes is one or two of the assholes from the other side of the fence to decide that, "hey, screw this system, let's try to break it so they can't use it anymore" and start using the system to intentionally jack scheduled zones, and what you get is exactly what's happening: People refusing to post their schedules for fear that they are going to be used against them by these "anti-schedule" shells.

Now before anyone accuses me of this, I'm not saying Quetz people "started it". What "started" it, is that there are people out there who are just enormous douchebags (I use that word because it seems to be the favorite of the thread) and they are equally rampant on BOTH sides. And when the douchebags start screwing with each other, everyone loses.

I don't know what to suggest at this point. If it's come to the point where we actually have "terrorist" shells using the system against us, I don't see an obvious solution.

Suggestions?

Suggestions?

This should have been aired on the Flameboard the instant it happened. Examples such as this are the very reason the flameboard exists; not to make joking comparisons between Limbus and Dynamis.

I already apologized for the Limbus thread.

And I would have posted it on here the day it happened if it was my shell, but it wasn't. I didn't feel it was my place to bring it up, if the shell it happened to didn't want to bring it up.

Given that the server's size has effectively doubled i'm not surprised that scheduling has become difficult. This may be a call for revamping the scheduling system we have used successfully for years, long before the server's population started to shrink. The "anti-schedule" antics are nothing new, just more pronounced now that we have more people on the server. Not using it out of fear that your time slot doesnt fix anything. i read the thread, and while i sympathize with the shell leader, i want to ask that they think about what type of message this sends.

As for people that think they will "break" the system by acting like spoiled 10 year olds, i'll just sit back and laugh at your foolish efforts. As i said we've been doing this for years and a few cretins won't screw it up. Keep in mind the JP population of the server that has never used the schedule and we've still made it work (yes i know the prime times are different, but we have our night owls do we not). i find it highly amusing that a handful of kids think stealing zones will have any impact.

While i can't fault you for being mindful of the shell's privacy, green is correct. This should have been brought to light right away. You wouldn't need to flame em exactly, but notifying us of the culprits would help future shells on the lookout.

I saw, and commend you on that :)

In fairness, silence doesn't help anyone against jackfucks.

I believe I did refer to the incident indirectly in this thread at least once, I just didn't actually spell it out. The shell it happened to has done a LOT to help me out in-game, and the last thing I'd want to do is drag them into something they didn't want to be dragged into. Besides, I got the screenshot from someone in the shell, and I'd hate to get that person in trouble with his shell for giving it to me.

The screenshot has the name of the person bitching them out, but I don't know what LS he was from. The best I could do would be to give you the name of that person -- which would have to wait until I got home anyway, as I'm at work and don't have the pic here.

Zal, the problem is that it WILL work. By jacking zones, and making people (let's be honest here, Midgarders) give up on the scheduling system rather than stick it out, they'll create more of themselves.

They're Dynamis Zone-Jacking Zombies. They will infect more shells to follow their example, and once, oh, about half the prime-time NA shells are no longer making any pretense of following the schedule, the system will collapse.

And Div, you have to understand, the Midgardsormr transfer was not the first mass influx of people that Quetzalcoatl has experienced. It's not a matter of people spontaneously snapping at shells that don't follow the schedule, it's a matter of the last straw, so to speak, for a lot of folks. Just about ever server transfer shell that moved to Quetz made a point of ignoring the scheduling system and basically fucking over other shells on a regular basis.

On purpose.

It'll be a sad day when the system dies because the Midgard crew can't be bothered to make it work.

As for solutions?

We've already told you the only remotely viable solution. To hold those who break the rules accountable on an individual basis.

You can't preempt a zone-jacking shell without screwing someone else over, thus negating the entire point of the system. You can't bribe them to do what you want, for obvious reasons (see: Danegeld). The only really viable path is to assemble a list of the names of individuals who participate in such actions, and refuse to have anything to do with them.

It won't work, of course, because people are lazy, but it can at least reach nuisance level if a decent percentage try at it.

I do understand that. But there's a big difference between a shell or two intentionally transferring to Quetz and threatening the system, and an entire server of shells being unwillingly transferred to Quetz and then being threatened into using the system. When the members of Quetz start jumping down the throats of the previously Midgard linkshells (which, lets face it, started happening before the merge even took place) all you do is breed more animosity than already existed.

I feel for you guys, I really do. I've said that a number of times. If the situation were reversed, I'd probably be arguing the same points right along side you. I'm a fan of the system, and I do believe that, in general, if everyone is willing to work together fair agreements can always be reached.

I'll be honest here, I think that this statement is a little biased and unfair. If the system dies, it will not be solely the fault of Midgard people.

Yes, it will. The system has persevered through every challenge thus far, because nobody ever just gave up on it. The NA Dynamis population of Quetz was committed to the system, and made it work, despite the occasional transfer shell full of assholes who took whatever zones they wanted, or the odd JP shell that strayed into NA prime time and did the same.

Two Midgard-origin shells have already given up on the scheduling system.

Raes actually even those server transfers eventually changed to using the dynamis scheduling... so no if this collapses it will be midgard server mergers fault.

I didn't say Midgard people had no impact on this, I just said that it is not SOLELY the fault of "the Midgard crew". You want to lay blame, blame Midgard AND Quetz people for being too stubborn and set in their ways to be able to get along. Blame SE for the situation, for the way they merged the servers, and for the way they implemented Dynamis. Hell, blame the merge itself, I don't care. But the attitude of "our system is perfect and would have worked if it wasn't for you pesky Midgardians" is childish and rude. And completely unfair.
