Never thought I'd post anything in the flameboard. This will probably be a lame flame but I don't care, do with the information what you will.

I'm tired of having my Dynamis shell's zones hijacked. We did our best as a community to make things go smoothly, but some assholes don't feel like they should play nice. Some are from Midgard, some are from Quetzy and have been doing it for years, it's annoying. They say that it's not against the rules, that they're not doing anything wrong, that the rest of us who are trying to make things less chaotic are crying over nothing. That's fine.

There's another thing that's not against the terms of service: the blacklist. If your zone gets jacked, do a search and list the people who snatched it. It's not against the rules to grab a dynamis zone, and it's not against the rules to shun those that do. As a community, QCDN members can make a lot of difference if all of a sudden half the server refuses to exp with a given person or people. Or not, the only one I can control is myself. Here are some new additions to my blist this evening (also note, an 11 person Dynamis-Xarcabard run, with not a single BLM).

Animademonia, Dbw, Ilovemagemog, Khdafi, Kwity, Lordskoll, Seriousbusiness, Speaknoevil, Thrillhaus, Ulma, Utsikt.

Do with that information whatever you will. Feel free to post more lists if you like, I plan to continue as applicable.

The people you have listed is in a Ls called "Thatjusthappen" Sorry u lost your zone, few of them are asshats and few of them are cool people. Utsikt went to GM jail lastnight for bad mouthing someone, all i see was GM poped, and Depoped with Utsikt.

Just so everyone knows; ThatJustHappened is the remnants of a very nasty botting shell on Midgard, called Persistence. They do not follow the rules, will step on you, and basically be asses. And to be blunt, since they were in the HNM scene; I refused and still will refuse to deal with those scum sucking slimeballs.

I hope that's the worst zone stealers tho there could be others.

Hey thanks for the info. So far I have only seen them camping KA! I have not seen them at any King camps!

There we go, dynamis flame #145. It took longer than I anticipated to see something surface here lol. Scheduling is hot and stuff but it's not a rule and it cannot be treated as such. I'll agree that it would be nice if people would respect it but it's not always the case and it sucks balls. The only thing you can do is make sure to secure the zone you want to go at and take the necessary measures to ensure to keep your zone. Otherwise, even if you're 25 waiting at the spot, it's fair and clean to take the zone because no one is in there. I do not condone that though but it's not written in the user guide nor the terms of service that you can't do that either.

Wow, I've done ISNM's with magemog and Dbw and they down right came out as decent fellas, unfortunately I have nothing bad to say about them but I'm sure everyone shares the sentiment and is sorry your zone was jacked.

@ Tribalinius: As I said at least twice, no it's not against the rules, but it's not cool either. If they ask me for a raise, they won't get it; if they are in an EXP party I join, I'll be leaving. It's unfortunate, and I'll probably piss off some party leaders. On the other hand, enough people start doing it, I bet it won't be an issue anymore.

I'm pretty sure Elizara's comment about "they do not follow the rules" was not referring to the QCDN scheduling. That shell does not follow the actual rules of FFXI -- rules like, "Thou shalt not bot" (you know, that one that most QCDN people get their panties in a huge twist over). They also have no problems with treating everyone outside of their shell as simple obstacles to their progress, and have been known to act like the mafia in their dealings with others. Things like, if you piss off one of their members, they may hunt you down and try to MPK you days later during an exp party just for giggles. You don't want to get on their bad side.

The point is not that QCDN scheduling is a rule, the point is that this particular shell doesn't follow actual rules, and therefore is likely to pay no heed at all to honor-based systems such as this. And I doubt there's anything anyone will be able to say or do to stop them.

/em nods at Divinius

Yes that's exactly what I meant. It's just not the calendar. They bot, they can stomp on you for just pissing someone off, etc. I've kept my distaste/disgust pretty quiet about those clowns. I just vote with my gil; if I can, I refuse to deal with them for any reason if I can avoid it.

It's not surprising they're not honoring the calendar either. That is a honor based system, if they ignore the other "rules of FFXI" you shouldn't be surprised if they trod on that, too.

Someone said bots and panties in a wad?

delph, out of the 11 ppl you named: 4 of those guys i am friends with, Dbw (he was Dirtybongwater but got his name changed by the GMs due to it being offensive), Skoll i've known since i started playing, i know Animademonia and
Speaknoevil (i was in Anima's Sky LS). Dbw's a nice guy, same with anima.. we all have had dyn areas zonejacked, it's happened on Midgar as well and it has happened here as well it seems

And now you know that some of your friends are douchebags.

Friend defense remains one of the weaker ploys, I fear.

One of my good friends joined them when they were back on Midgard. We made fun of him... jokingly called him a tool for joining a shell like that. But I am still friends with him, because he's a good guy. For example, he refused to run their claim-bot, and got put behind those that were willing to run it on drop lists because of it. He just wanted good gear, and self-admittedly "sold his soul" to get it. Meh, to each his own.

I don't judge individual people based on the LS they are in. I never have and I never will. I judge individual people by their own actions.

I will however, judge linkshells by the actions of their members, and their leaders specifically. If a linkshell's leaders run that shell based off a set of ethical standards (or lack thereof), then I expect that future actions of that linkshell to be based off the past trend.

But just because someone is in a LS like that, doesn't necessarily mean they themselves are bad people. It just means they lack the motivation or ethic stamina to leave a shell that is getting them what they want. If however, they actively take part in the very things that give that shell its reputation, then those are reasons to condemn that specific person.

Put simply, if a LS jacks your zone, and mocks the scheduling system, don't blame everyone in the LS. Blame the leaders that made the decision, and the players that are actually doing the mocking. In most LSes, a majority of the players are simply "along for the ride".

Those "along for the ride" are making a conscious decision to support an (arguably) unethical system by staying with it, though, aren't they?

Exactly.

We are judged by the company we keep.

That's very true, and like I said, I still pestered my friend about it no end. But I have significantly less contempt for people that choose to "bury their head in the sand" when in a LS like that, than I do for the people that actually have some control over the decisions being made.

I would certainly commend anyone that is willing to say, "if this LS is going to act like that, then I want no part of it," and then drop their pearl. But at the same time, I can't really fault anyone too bad for not being willing to go that far.

Sorry for the necro.

I can fault them. If they knew they were taking a zone someone else had planned for the last month, and they still went along with it, your friends are douchebags. I'm sorry to be like that, but I'm also sorry to have to.

Regardless, we have some new names this evening!

Alcatraz, Apocalypse, Bongbong, Dinochi, Draxxus, Idwatchursix, Killie, Kiras, Kiyame, Markers, Natimb, Nugglet, Proserpina, Sacsac, Sicaria, Template, Tysa.

LOL think you need to look up the definition of a necro Delphin =P either way, sorry to hear this happened =/

Come on its only seven days out of date since last post some dynamis LS only run once a week to post fresh problems on a thread like this. If the thread was months outta date then you'd have a case to scream necro! ^^
